But all of that you do within pre-admissions, all our september starters are currently allocated to reg groups and houses setup ready to go. Once the timetable is sent across tomorrow they will all be allocated to the correct teaching groups and classes and then over the summer will have their timetables printed off ready for the first day in September. Then once they turn up on the day in September, we will admit them.

Yes they are cumulative so you just need to approve the latest one for x86 and x64 as appropriate.

Is it installed on a domain controller? If so, DNS might have grabbed the port before Service Manager started up. If that's the case, you'll need to exclude port from the socket pool: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee649174(v=ws.10).aspx

I only have 5 machines so a non issue for me, but the smart install manager might package it up nicely for you? -
Opening access to Linkedin for Sixth Form Students
Cache replied to jslate1980's topic in General Chat
Our sixth form were doing a course in their tutorial lesson at one point and needed access (think it was the barclays skillwise thingy) - passed it up to the head to approve and granted access in tha room during the tutorial lessons. -
SMART Ink / Notebook 11.4 - Office 365 display issue
Cache replied to Cache's topic in Educational Software
Grrrrrrr - I found a similar article but it was for a newer version of SMART Ink and was dependant on a folder in the users AppData! So far, we seem to have survived the day with the newer version though! -
SMART Ink / Notebook 11.4 - Office 365 display issue
Cache replied to Cache's topic in Educational Software
That's interesting, I worked on the assumption that once it expired it would stop working... Updating to the 12.2 drivers seems to have sorted the issue for the time being though so I'll live in hope! -
SMART Ink / Notebook 11.4 - Office 365 display issue
Cache replied to Cache's topic in Educational Software
Thanks Both, I'll give the smart 12.2 drivers a shot and see where we end up. We've had 11.4 for a few years now and it's not caused us an issue so far, we can't afford to allocate a chunk of money to pay SMART each year, so hopefully this works! -
Hi all I'm having issues with SMART Ink at the moment interfering with the display of Office 365 Webmail so that those who use a smartboard can't access it. Disabling SMART Ink works however that then causes other issues with annotating PDF's and other items (and also no drawing over websites). Contacted SMART and their advice is to upgrade to Notebook 17 and drop to limited functionality mode after 45 days. Does anyone have any other solutions to it or does anyone know how the limited features in version 17 compare to 11.4? Thanks

From Arthur's article above: Just import them into WSUS from the Update Catalogue and then you'll be able to deploy them - I don't think they are automatically releasing them to wsus.

Well you could use a comment aspect for the imputting of a target which would solve that part, in terms of doing it for a looked after child in each class for a member of staff to enter from a marksheet I'm not sure if you could create a filter specific enough for the class teacher just to go to the marksheet to do it. You could do it and tell them to filter the marksheet for look after only and those are the only ones they need to enter a comment for?

I can't remember without looking at it, however my initial instinct would be to say that using Assessment Manager and producing an individual report using that would be a better way of doing it.

That's odd, as I made a point of testing that part of it about not assigning a licence, only extra thing I can think of is in the advanced settings part within the ArcGIS Identity part I've ticked the update profile on sign-in box, but I'm sure I did that after I'd tested it because I was trying to make the surname come through at that point. Just checked the last login and ours definitely doesn't need the licence assigning as the member of staff who requested it has signed in this morning and I've still not assigned any licences. I found an Esri document somewhere saying about ADFS that it didn't pull through the surname for some reason (can't remember why and can't find the document) but from memory it just didn't allow the inbound data flow. Not sure about the old portal page not working, I did access the new portal through the Office 365 portal first whether that made any difference or not?

It was cheaper this time for us to licence SQL server and CALS rather than the per core model - however we always just licenced the minimum number of cores needed which we use for our one VM previously that we run SIMS on, it wasn't a massive increase on last year for us though.

I've just configured this and use Azure AD from our Office 365 accounts: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/active-directory-saas-arcgis-tutorial Only change I made to the instructions there is Step 9 I set to allow it automatically, that way you don't need to do the last 2 parts in importing into ArcGIS and you don't need to assign it in AzureAD. The only downside, which I was willing to live with and so were our staff, was that it doesn't import the surname into ArcGIS. Edit: I found it easier to follow in the old AzureAD portal rather than the new one, the guide is in the old one and the steps are slightly different in the new: https://manage.windowsazure.com

Scan to email - Email server recommendation?
Cache replied to Theldron's topic in How do you do....it?
We have an internal relay server, however that relay account also has it's Office 365 password configured not to expire: https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Set-an-individual-user-s-password-to-never-expire-f493e3af-e1d8-4668-9211-230c245a0466 -
I used to use Transcender and it was pretty good - https://www.transcender.com/ Not used it for a while now though.

Profiles is a complex beast and needs to be built up in a secific way. You start with your comment bank, you create a comment bank for your reporting session (we do ours by year group as that's how we report) and then within that comment bank you need a Comment Bank section for each subject. You link that section to a course by right clicking on it. Each comment bank section then needs the area that you want to comment on and we were told atleast a heading comment and a blank join comment. Once your comment bank is created, you move on to designing your session, from here you select your comment bank that you are going to use, this should populate the box on the left hand side think it's courses, but going from memory) which should match up with what you linked in your comment bank. When you click on each of these courses on the right hand side the groups should appear that you want to report on. If they don't then click on the little magnifying glass to the right and then you should be able to select the groups that you want to report on. You also need to pick your template and this is driven again by the comment bank and requires inserting of the comment sections from the comment bank into your template, so if you create a new commentbank then you will need to rebuild your template. Once you are sure that your comment bank is right, you can switch the session from Design to Active and make sure it is unlocked and then teachers will be able to input comments, but be careful as once it is active youo can't go back. Really you need the Managing Pupil/Student Profiles handbook that can be found on Capita SIMS My Account or by clicking on the Documentation link on your SIMS homepage.

Assuming a windows share, would setting up a certificate server and using EFS to encrypt the folder not serve your purpose? Have a specific user set as the recovery agent. That may be very old hat now, I'll be honest say I've never looked at it.

WSUS - only some Server 2012 clients showing up...
Cache replied to kennysarmy's topic in Enterprise Software
Tried on ours and it tries to download the cab file, you might have mixed the port number up though - it should be 8530. Might also be worth trying wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow -

Proxy server set using netsh winhttp? Or a proxy server set for the user running Windows Update which doesn't have a bypass exception? 2017-05-16 13:04:15:696 776 f90 WS WARNING: There was an error communicating with the endpoint at 'http://xxx:8530/SimpleAuthWebService/SimpleAuth.asmx'. 2017-05-16 13:04:15:696 776 f90 WS WARNING: The server returned HTTP status code '407 (0x197)' with text 'Proxy Authentication Required'. 2017-05-16 13:04:15:696 776 f90 WS WARNING: The proxy requires HTTP authentication scheme 'NTLM'. 2017-05-16 13:04:16:743 776 f90 WS WARNING: Nws Failure: errorCode=0x803d0000 Edit: Just seen your reply above. I'd maybe try old faithful of renaming the softwaredistribution folder, does seem like a proxy server issue, as it's trying to access it over port 800? Failing that, the Windows Update troubleshooter. Just going off this extra line, it hasn't got any bypass options set other than local. Or run Windows Update as administrator after restarting the service with the IE proxy disabled. 2017-05-16 13:04:16:743 776 f90 WS WARNING: Proxy List used: 'xxx:800', Bypass List used: '', Last Proxy used: 'xxx:800', Last auth Schemes used: 'Negotiate (NTLM or Kerberos);'. -
@pcstru - Wireless we've put Unifi in over the last 2 years which has just about given full site coverage for the buildings apart from 2 small areas which with enough budget remaining in the summer I can purchase the additional AP's to cover that. PC's we've sat down and mapped out the replacement for the next 3 years and then for the 5 year plan we'll hit back to hopefully replacing what we've done in the last 2. To be fair then, the answer to the question what do you want the network to do/cope with which I gave was fine because I don't put anything in place to hamper what needs to be done and will come up with a workaround in most cases. I am just at that point at the moment, probably like a few others, in that I don't know which direction things are going, I am going or schools are going.

Morning all Yesterday I was caught a little by surprise by the question from somebody what do you think we should be doing to move the IT infrastructure forward over the next few years or what direction should we be heading in. To be fair while we have no money, the network isn't in a bad shape. We're mostly virtualised with just a couple of physical boxes (smoothwall/backup nas/DC) and the switch and cabling infrastructure while now old the majority of switches are managed and the network itself copes quite well. We use Office 365 for email quite well, have an onsite Moodle which a few staff use for courses. The only thing that came into my head at that time was 2 things: Need to see where things are heading with the cloud What do you want the network to be able to do/cope with Thinking more now then refreshing the cabling, particularly fibre links and upgrading the switches again for 10gb backbone/ 1gb to the desktop might have been a good answer but at the same time we were reviewing the next 3 years budget and I know there is no extra money that can go in them or that could fund such a project. Am I missing somewhere the great big plan of what we need to be doing or where I should be heading/pushing the school IT? At the moment because there doesn't seem to be any certainty I can't see any major direction forward and not being able to come up with a convincing answer at the time I may well have missed my opportunity.

My Account will have all the various manuals for the various areas/modules - I don't think you will find a single manual for either product anywhere. Capita SIMS My Account Alternatively if your within SIMS click on Documentation and then that will take you to the online documentation center and should have the majority of manuals/guides up there.
