I stopped listening to the moans after the 1st week, 3 weeks on some are still complaining in the background about it. That was our main reasoning behind it as well, we set the job deletion time to 3 days so that if someone sent something to it while working remotely over the weekend then it would still be there on Monday morning for them to go and release.

We've just implemented ID&Print on our two machines, a c654e and 654e, joined the copier to AD, configured it to use external auth, changed the settings to restrict unauth'd printing and then anything sent as a print job still goes through as ID&print. Staff hate it since they now have to login to use the machine since we decided to try and get some indication of usage, but also get's them in the habit. I think you might be able to restrict the print output so it will only accept Secure Print like ADMaster says, but we just decided to go the whole hog. Took me an afternoon to do with a lot of research, Konica guides and manuals that give relatively straightforward answers/instructions seem few and far between.

Does it have an odd domain suffix? I had one email address which ended with .eu which no amount of trying could I get to save in Outlook. Ended up adding it through OWA.

We're just entering the 3rd year of our contract with RM broadband and we've only had 2 issues, 1 was an RM issue the other was a BT Openreach network issue due to a farmer cutting through a fibre cable while cutting a hedge..... What issues are you having? I can't say we didn't have our issues during the installation of the connection due to communication issues, however our account manager was really good in getting things moving forward again when we needed him.

Normally a reboot will solve this too as the pendring file writes will complete then. I have the same issue with the Intouch Services for some reason but never tracked down why.

Hi all Anyone able to offer me any simple steps on how to setup an Office 365 connector using postfix or an alternative? I've hit a stumbling block in that now I've configured single sign-on on our photocopiers, the scan to me no longer works because it ignores me telling it to use the Admin/device email address and now uses the User email address. As we don't have a public IP (nat'd through the RBC network) I don't really want to use an IP connector so thought a Certificate connector would be better, however I can't understand the requirements of the certificate, whether I can use something like letsencrypt and if I can what domain the certificate needs to include and actually the steps I'd need to follow. Anyone any advice before I give up? Thanks

Is there any reason you couldn't extend your AD with the 2012 schema to make the attribute available? If not, and I may well be missing the point, if you extenda the schema without upgrading the domain/forest level you should be able to do what you need to while keeping your 2008 DC's.

Hi all I've spent the afternoon configuring ID&Print on our Konica Photocopiers and it's all working quite nicely with one exception - when you print to them you either need to enter your password or tick the Single Sign-on box in the authentication window or configure it in the driver per user. Does anyone know of anyway I can enable the Single Sign-on box in the driver so that I no longer need to display the Authentication window or remind users to configure the driver before printing? Printer Defaults doesn't seem to apply to that window. Thanks

@speckled - I've just hit the same brick wall - did you find a solution or did you just need to wait for Office 365 to sort its self up?

Is anyone else having issues with Group Policy Preferences and deploying printers? Recently, I've notice certain machines or groups of machines have stopped deploying the printer preferences as expected, such as setting the correct printer as default for a member of staff but not setting it correctly for a student despite the same conditions applying to both users, however the majority of other machines in the room work correctly.. I've used GPP to deploy the printers since we migrated across to Windows 7 and apart from the odd bug which was resolved by a hotfix it's all been fine. Normally if I hit this point I'll go and delete the profiles, remove the printer drivers from the workstation and then log back on and it's quite happy - it's being more stubborn then usual however. It seems to have started happening since around Christmas, the only things that have changed are Windows Updates and updating Papercut on the print server - the print server is still the same otherwise as are the drivers. It's going to be a job I try and tackle properly next week with no one else in, but if anyone has a suggestions as to where to start it would be much appreciated!

I checked this with my supplier, providing your Support and Maintenance is upto date and active when the version was released, you can upgrade to the latest version. You might need to upgrade your licence key in the portal however.

Will do some investigating then, we do lease the copiers and lease them direct from Konica Minolta so that might be the only fly in the ointment. Our account manager left 2 years ago (apparently) and as everything has just worked we've never really been in touch with anyone to find out who it is now - perhaps now is the time to do just that. Our lease still has about 17 months left on it. @pete - do you deal with Konica direct then and they are happy for you to manage the upgrades but you've got this written into your lease some how? The other question I had someone might be able to answer for me is how the licencing works? I realise you need the MF and then the device licence - is the device licence unique to the device/brand or if say after 3 years we change our copiers to another brand can we take that licence to use on their device or would it require a new device licence?

Hi all I'm trying to get my head around Papercut MF at the moment. We use PapercutNG to monitor all our printers and we're looking at changing the way we are using our Photocopiers so Papercut MF seems a sensible way to go. I can't find the answers to the questions I have though so hoping someone can help! Can you self install/manage Papercut MF or does it need to be done by a solutions provider? Can it be "retro-installed" onto an existing copier or does the copier need to be leased with it in place? Anybody any experience of using Papercut MF with Konica Minolta devices? Anybody any experience of trying to do this with Konica Minolta direct? I quite like Papercut, however should I be looking at something else as well? Thanks

Our plan is to do it when we replace the next host, which looking at budgets is likely to be October half term. We're going to drop one host and replace the other (continuing forward with 2 hosts again instead of 3) as they don't appear on the VMware compatibility matrix which I was advised to work off. Until then, we have the capacity and redundancy built in to what has so far been a very stable platform so we're fairly happy continuing to stretch it out.

I would disagree about the priority feature being worthless. I have it configured so that my own, the server and a couple of admin workstations are updated first - that way if it is just a single workstation update to roll out I can be on importing the report files and checking things have worked correctly and certain people can start work again while the update continues to roll out. As I do this after school at 4pm it matters less about classroom workstations being updated as a priority and I'm happy for them to get done as Solus 3 decides.

I have an Applocker Certificate Rule that allows the GoTo apps for use by staff which tends to aleviate most problems. I did also have to create a FileHash rule for AppCore.exe located in C:\Users\(user)\AppData\Local\Apps as obviously that wasn't signed by a certificate so I just left it open on a workstation before copying it somewhere to allow me to make the hash rule. I still have some issues with our proxy server that I need to tweak manually so it still only really works on certain workstations.

The transparent proxy applies your default level of safetynet filtering applied to all users to the devices using it, hence my request for the enhancement above. So no, it doesn't do the filtering on google searches as it doesn't redirect to the sslfilter - it does however enforce safesearch through DNS.

I've a couple of comments about the UBF filtering which I've fed back before (some I think are coming), mainly: Having to change the users password to enable Unify sync is a pain when first setting up the ability to filter by IP address/Location would be a great addition Being able to get the local IP from the logs rather than just our router IP would be great too Ability to apply UBF to the transparent proxy (although I think I read this was coming and @tj2419 obviously has heard something similar) Ability to perform content modification rules, such as inserting headers to control things like Youtube access/Google Domain restrictions Ability to set the default reporting period so that if you switch from one page to another, you don't have to keep remembering to set the dates/times again!

We use at one school I work at, the filtering is basic so you can't really compare it to something like Smoothwall, however it does do a job and you can report on users browsing with the UBF (but for the price you pay for it I don't feel you can't knock it for what it does). You can add/remove your own restrictions at will. The UBF does have a self certification on the Safer Internet Center site so you can see it does meet the current filtering requirements. Speeds have been good, not had any downtime apart from 1 issue about 2 years ago which affected the RM network core and 1 where a farmer cutting a hedge managed to cut through one of Openreach's main cables (which I can't really blame RM for!). Been pretty happy considering it was something I was very nervous about changing. Any change requests for firewall rules I've put in have been dealt with quickly and easily, I log it one day and so far it's been put in place by the next.

I had this on one PC a while ago, a Chrome update was failing to install however it generated a few MB log file each time. It tried multiple times regularly leading to it become full quite quickly. Have a look in C:\Windows\Temp

I used a slightly modified version of these scripts to do the same thing over the summer, had no issues with Office 2010 remaining. I'm not sure it comes down to government guidance but more the schools/local authorities policies. Our official asset register contains items with a value of more than £100 (relating to IT), my IT asset register contains any and all IT items of reasonable value (basically anything excluding low value accessories) - but I think the £100 figure which was something incorporated into a policy/suggested by the accountants when we bacame an academy. Another school I know has a threshold much higher (want to say £300 for an individual item or a collective purchase of £2000 for IT items but I may be completely wrong).

As above, a good account manager at Dell is a blessing to have. I had an issue earlier this year where my preferrered supplier was locked out of a bid process and by getting get hold of the account manager she managed to get it unlocked and sorted so that it was open to 3 bids again rather than restricted to 1. Dell also going through various restructures at the time, my account manager managed to keep putting the pressure on the technical guys when things occaisionally(regularly) fell silent. I know you went to a reseller, but I always find it far easier to go through a reseller and get better pricing that way then Dell direct. It's also, normally, far less stressful and frustrating.
