Reports - Assessment - Missing Results Report There was somthing odd about it but I can't remember what it was now, it's a while since I used it.

Will take a look at the OnePlus and Nokia then. My contract is dead cheap at £8.99 a month and I always just buy whatever phone I like, just seems a lot of money to fork out that I haven't spent since I bought my original Nexus One phone when it came out. It's a shame because I like the Nexus 5X however now discovering that Bootloop is a common flaw that can occur at any time I'm less inclined to keep it for the 3 years I normally would - 18 months isn't very long.
-
As I've had to resurrect my Nexus 4 since my Nexus 5x has just been sent off to repair the Bootloop issue, I think nows the time to consider upgrading and trading in the 5X once it comes back. So, I'd like to stick with the Nexus/Pixel range, however the Pixel 2 is a chunk above what I've paid for a phone in a long time - anyone using a Pixel 2 at the moment and recommend it or recommend anything else?
-
Nope, you can't automate it unfortunately - asked the question myself. If you do come up with anything automated I'd be interested.

Our Samsung system does it by dialing a code ie: 600 - cancel all divert, 601 - forward all calls, 604 - busy/no answer, 401 - DND, 400 - Cancel DND I'm 99.9% certain it's not tied to using a Samsung handset (I'm sure I've set/canceled the options on an analog non samsung handset connected to it)
-
Is it to fit into an existing system or a standalone? Most phone systems I would imagine have a DND feature or redirect all to answer phone by dialing a code/pressing a button.

I'll have to do some more digging and see is the honest answer to that, was one of those things if others were experiencing it/had a solution then it would save me some time.

Barracuda to replace Smoothwall
Cache replied to FN-GM's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I looked at Barracuda a couple of years ago and the solution seemed good and it seemed to meet what we wanted. Further digging however revealed that what we were being quoted for didn't include everything we needed such as SSL Inspection for example. When we then pushed on this with a reseller they then moved on to offering an alternative solution such as Sophos as a better match to our needs. At the time we decided to stick with Smoothwall as the pricing at that point was still better for us. -
Everything else appears to be working fine, I'd probably describe it more as a memory leak in that while it takes a while for OWA to load all it's bits and pieces in, the longer you leave it open the worse the performance of the PC generally gets. I've not noticed it as much at home, but I only pop on briefly and then log off rather than leaving it open for an extended period of time - will need to have a play further I guess.
-
Hi Just wondering if anyone else has noticed any performance issues with OWA over the last month or so? I tend to use Outlook but noticed when using my admin account that the computer would generally start to grind to a halt. Thought it might be my PC but now a couple of other staff have reported the same thing. Just curious whether it's me or a bigger thing?

We've had that issue with the EU plug being supplied, however quick call to my supplier gets a uk adapter sent out so I think it does depend. Also been caught out by the lack of PoE adapters in multi packs before too. One quick thing about the management - I think, but haven't tested, you can use the mobile app to configure a standalone AP now without the need for a controller. Don't know how well it works or if you lose any functionality but might be another option to look at for standalone setups.

When we were looking at it, the 3rd party can be anyone including a body such as a PTFA if you have one. You just need to bear in mind that (from my understanding) it can't become your property no matter what you do, you just enjoy the benefit of it's use. We opted for Continue Indefinite Use as this was the prefered option of our accountants/auditors.

You can't purchase the equipment out of the lease, as that would then be classed as a finance agreement/loan which schools can't enter into without approval from the secretary of state. What you need to do is look at the paper work or contact the leasing company and see what your options are at the end of the lease. Normally you can get a nominated 3rd party to buy title to the equipment, continue renting the equipment under the same terms of the lease, send the equipment back or pay to have continued indefinite use of the equipment.

Sophos How To's - short video's
Cache replied to jamesp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Well, found a problem in the uc.log file: [2017-11-30T21:56:41Z] [2bc] Error: [HTTPServer::HttpReceiveRequestCompletion::CompleteOperation:494] Error opening https://(ServerName):8191/sophos/customer/a/ab/aaba2db58a5980b48efa7166560b0c08.dat: Could not open file: [3] The system cannot find the path specified. Reason it can't open the file, it doesn't exist and neither does the /a/ab folder structure. I have /4/b3 and /5/61 and files in each of those, but not aaba2db58a5980b48efa7166560b0c08.dat Not sure how to fix it from here. -
To be fair, it is relatively new, within the last 12-18 months.

Smoothwall licensing
Cache replied to SchoolsBroadband's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I don't remember recieving a new support pack through when I renewed last year (and the year before that we didn't renew the support because of the cost), but we have a Basic Service agreement and looking at the support site we currently have 12 credits. We also signed up to a 3 year agreement, so I'm not sure whether those 12 are supposed to last me 3 years or I get another 12 in January.... It's a while since I contacted support however looking through my past cases, bugs do not use up support credits, advice and configuration issues do. That may not be entirely accurate, but to be honest I have no idea where on earth my support pack might be...- 1 reply

Last update I got was that Microsoft have recognised it's a bug and it's due to be fixed in the December updates, however is subject to change and can't be accepted as a firm plan of fixing it in that update...

Sophos How To's - short video's
Cache replied to jamesp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I'll take a look when I'm back on Friday, thanks! The Cloud Console does say it's the cache is up to date and which ever port it wants is open both by a rule put in by the installer and I manually went and added it as well just to try and rule it out. Sorry to hijack the thread! -
There's a link in the top left hand corner of the HomePage that shows your current Working Academic Year and clicking on it you can change it if need be.

Sophos How To's - short video's
Cache replied to jamesp's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Mine has decided just to sit there and do nothing.... I might be missing something but from my searching there is little to nothing available at the moment to try and find out whether it is working and just not reporting back to the cloud or it's being honest and isn't updating the clients and not even updating its self. -

Using, configuring and troubleshooting Update Cache for Sophos Central would be good for me. At the moment I have it setup but it doesn't seem to want to update any of my clients.... -
[windows software] Changes to Microsoft Education Licensing
Cache replied to GiggleKitteh's topic in Licensing Questions
It's worth pointing out that you still need to buy machines with atleast a home licence installed also, it just provides you upgrade rights not rights to install on an unlicenced machine. -
I have to admit I didn't haven't tried caching the firmware. You could try a Custom Firmware upgrade using the http link to try and download to the AP, just to rule that out. The other thing I did was SSH into the AP and initate the upgrade while the log file was running https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/204959834-UniFi-What-log-files-exist-and-where-can-I-view-them-#unifi%20ap%20and%20switch That's how I eventually narrowed ours down to being an SSL problem caused by NTP.
-
We've had issues previously and it was caused by NTP. The AP's by default try to download from https://dl.ubnt.com which if they can't access an NTP server produces an error about certificate validity. I can't remember what version, but there's been 2 changes - the 1st changed the firmware update location to go direct to the UBNT site, the 2nd then switched from http to https but they've been fairly staggered in there releasing of those changes. In the latest version of the console you can go to Settings - Services - NTP and specify your ntp server in there and that solved all the issues for us. Earlier versions of the console require editing config files. I don't know whether it's the case with the UAP's but I've previously had issues getting HP switches to use a Windows time server so mine point to a Linux timeserver currently as it was a faff to edit the files at the time. Edit: It was also compounded by me then discovering that for some reason our ISP was blocking all NTP requests, when queried they couldn't provide an answer as to why but they weren't going to unblock it.

The only other one in my list of superceded updates is KB4011166, but I haven't time at the moment to uninstall the other update and install that one to see if it causes the same problem.
