  1. Smoothwall have teamed up with expert monitoring specialists to offer a monitoring service able to detect and escalate safeguarding concerns within minutes of alerts being triggered. Using a centralised threat library and monitoring software covering multiple languages, along with monitoring expertise, the service will provide real time monitoring ensuring that your devices provide a safe environment for pupils making you aware of safeguarding issues and concerns as and when they occur. Using intelligent software and monitoring professionals expertise Visigo is specialised in profiling behaviour and detecting and alerting risks before they develop into major incidents. The service covers all aspects of safeguarding and exceeds DfE and Prevent requirements • Reporting customised to suit your college or schools needs • Urgent serious safeguarding risk will be called through by telephone in real time • 24/7 monitoring and support of offline and online activity • All incidents reviewed and escalated by skilled monitoring staff • Ensure your devices are protected whether on- or offsite • A portal for safeguarding staff and a portal for IT staff How does Visigo work? The keylogging mechanism will transfer data and screenshots to a cloud based concentrator. The concentrator then transmits data to Smoothwall’s expert team who will analyse the data and content to eradicate false positives and give you useful, expert reports of actual safeguarding risk. If a serious incident is detected they will then contact the school directly to inform them of this within minutes of it occurring. Lower level reports are configured and delivered within a time frame agreed with you. Pricing is based on a per device basis. 3. Hi All We'd like to invite you all to our Strategy Session for Senior Leaders next week. We'll be delivering a session from 4pm-5pm Room Location: Excel Centre - North Gallery Suite #15 | Map: http://goo.gl/2jjzdn Our session description is - Building an Environment for Change... by Starting with the Right Questions. Overview: Twenty-first century school leaders are strategic operators -- part manager, part operator, part catalyst. At present, leaders are now also tasked with ensuring that their organisation does not fall behind with regards to technology. Often, however, questions of why, what, and how can hinder the process of effectively implementing this change. In this session, we will explore the bedrock questions that schools must address first, and provide stories of successful strategies that give stakeholders a voice in the school’s change process. This workshop will also highlight how a UK Google lighthouse school has tackled similar challenges during their own journey. Agenda: Time Content & Speaker 4:00-4:15 Introduction to Change Management and Haptic - Darrell Raynard & Nathan Mortimer, Haptic Networks - Google Partner 4:15-4:30 Professional Development and Change Management within the Classroom Darrell Raynard, Haptic Networks - Google Partner 4:30-4:45 Tactical Change Management Strategies for Schools Andy Caffery, Streetly Academy 4:45-5:00 Questions & Answers It'd be great to see you all there, please register for this (or any of the individual sessions over the course of BETT 2017) using this link Alternatively, if you can't make it - feel free to pose any questions here and we'll make sure they get asked. Thanks for reading Joe
  4. Hi All Here's a snap of me looking like a cross between Sam Fisher (best case) and Ray Stantz (most likely) whilst monkeying around with our new VR Classroom equipment. We have a few classroom sets we're currently making available to interested Schools, feel free to PM if you'd like a whirl! Joe
  5. The HQ is in Bracknell, Berkshire - Apologies for not adding that above. Chris Rankin Technical Consultant
  6. Hi all As most of you will be aware, Ruckus have had a busy year. Part of the acquisition by Brocade has been a focus on unifying the technologies and the channels they appear in. We were invited to their UK HQ and allowed a play around in their demo suite, we asked if we could invite interested parties along on future trips and they couldn't have been more inviting. Brocade have an incredible demo suite in their UK Headquarters, consisting of several full size racks filled with many different variations of switches from their Campus/Access (ICX) & Data Center (VDX) portfolio. They also have a large array of alternative vendor’s servers and storage options to be able to demonstrate how effective their hardware is in a ‘live’ environment. Brocade are open to us taking any interested individuals to their offices to dive into said demo suite letting us not only show off their capability, but really get hands on with their syntax. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to see how Brocade envisage how networking will take shape and to understand their unique take on architecture, design & methodologies for modern networks, such as Campus Fabrics; turning a set of geographically distributed switches up to 10km apart, appear and act as a single logical domain. If this is of interest, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via PM/reply. For more information on Brocade’s ICX & VDX portfolio, please visit: Campus Network Switches - Brocade Data Center Switches - Brocade Chris Rankin Technical Consultant
  7. Hi We've just created a site using the new sites, it's excellent. However the permissions you've mentioned are what we've seen, either public or users within your domain. The permission options should be updated at some point, as always - use the feedback function as they all get put onto the list of feature updates/fixes. Joe
  8. Hi All As Google for Education Partners, we've been working directly with Intel to make it more affordable to bring Chromebooks and Chrome devices into education. Understanding that many Schools have rolled out iPads and may have some older devices that they wish to trade in we've engineered this offer. Click this link to view our trade in microsite where you can see how much your old iPads are worth. If anyone else would like to have a play with some Chromebooks we have a huge demo program running where your School can have a class set of 32 x units to test and try out. Any questions feel free to PM Darrell
  9. We're glad you're all enjoying Foldr, it's an incredible solution that's proving exceptionally popular. If anyone wants to know more or have a demo etc feel free to PM Joe

  18. Hi All I wanted to put a quick shout on here about our upcoming 'Google and the Classroom' event taking place in Sheffield late November. Following the hugely successful (as well as enjoyable) event we held @ The Streetly Academy earlier this year we're taking the message Northwards. The format will be similar to the last, the focus being on spending a few hours in a laid back interactive fashion exploring more of the G Suite Edu (nearly typed GaFE) offering. We're incredibly proud that once again Andrew Caffrey, Assistant Headteacher at The Streetly Academy will be present to give further insight on his journey to becoming a LightHouse site. Also present will be James Leonard, Google for Education Dean Stokes, a leading expert on Google for Education. As well as kindly hosting the event Graeme Hathaway, Assistant Principal Learning Improvement and Innovation, The Sheffield College will also be there to inform attendees about the College's journey thus far with Haptic and Google. Our Team will be on hand also, we're also delighted that we can showcase Google Expeditions and let you all have a play around with the kit during the session. Places (sadly) will be limited to around 40 delegates, we're hoping to have more events planned shortly across the UK. It would be great to see you there. News post and registration form can be found here Joe
  19. The Jamiroquai lyric of "...this love we have of useless twisting, of a new technology..." springs to mind. We liked it as it was, however one must always move with the times! Joe
  20. Hi All Hopefully your Friday is relatively pain free (unlike some of us making radical changes to the website in a hurried fashion!) Anyhoo, Google have decided to rename their Apps For Education and Apps for Work offering as : G Suite / G Suite for Education. We initially thought of Snoop Dogg's favourite hotel, chuckled, then got over it. As we are fully fledged Google For Education/Work Partners we've clearly had our work cut out this morning. Here's a link to the news post, there's a link to Google's own blog there too. What are your thoughts on the new handle? Joe
