Derail away! This has been the brainchild of one of our hardware recycling partners and Google themselves. It works thus: You tell us which Ipads you have on site, and what grade they are in (we help with the clarification of these terms) then we tell you how much they're worth. You say "Wow, that's a lot for me ole fondleslabs me ole china plate!" (cockney accent isn't mandatory) then we offer you that as a credit to spend on shiny new chromebooks. It's about as simple as that really, it's a beauty of an initiative and I wish we'd come up with the idea. Any questions, drop us a PM Joe

Hi All As you'll all know (and perhaps even be bored of hearing by now) we've been G Suite Partners for quite some time now. Instead of keeping a focus on the tech/chromebook side of things we've always been more honed on the services side. From our ongoing Ipad buyback, to our parental contribution scheme all the way through to our raft of G Suite project and support offerings. We've recently refreshed them, cutting them from 6 down to 3. We felt the need to simplify and bring more of them together, here's how we did it

The main issues around Chromecast connection is in relation to WPA2 Enterprise setups which are not supported.

Hi All (mods please feel free to move this if it's situated incorrectly) We're hosting a Tech roadshow on Friday 6th October at the Imperial War Museum, London. Pulling together presentations from iXSystems, Veeam, Smoothwall and Avocor as well as 'hands on' displays of Chromebooks, VR, Storage solutions amongst others. We currently have 20 seats left, it would be great to have some of the Edugeek community join us. Fear ye not, we're not pinning name badges on anyone.....it's not that type of affair. More of a smaller informal and interactive session to showcase some of the solutions we're working with. The event is entirely free, with lunch included. We're also giving away one of the brand new Lego UCS Millenium Falcon sets to a lucky attendee. Further details and instructions to register are on the link below, it would be good to see you there. Join us for our Tech Roadshow, Imperial War Museum Ta! Joe

Yes that's intentional - we thought we'd make it easier for those that had no knowledge whatsoever of Star Wars/Lego (those poor souls) It's an easy question, although slightly more difficult than the recent (nasal cockney Joe Swash voice) "What colour is the Whitehouse?" type questions. Good luck y'all Joe

Hi all. We're incredibly excited to announce our partnership with iXsystems, and as I'm sure the tone already sounds like a generic partner announcement - let me add emphasis incredibly excited Excited mainly for two reasons: Firstly - the TrueNAS and FreeNAS lines are really interesting storage solutions. Open Source driven and harnessing ZFS, a self-healing file system that prevents, detects and corrects data decay, bit rot and corruption. Secondly - the iXsystems team are an absolute joy to work with. We've never worked with a storage vendor so willing to set up POC, solution walkthroughs and pre-deployment testing (typically they hot test drives for over a month in-house to ensure 0% fail rate on deployment. More on ZFS: True Protection TrueNAS provides unrivalled data integrity protection by using the OpenZFS enterprise file system. OpenZFS is a next-generation file system in every regard from its self-healing bit rot mitigation to its flexible snapshotting and replication. True Scalability OpenZFS is a future-proof 128-bit “scale up” file system that is designed for decades of continuous use. TrueNAS grows from hundreds of GBs to 4PB per system and is designed to make the increase in capacity painless. True Flexibility TrueNAS offers you the flexibility of choice, providing CIFS/SMB, AFP, and NFS for file storage and iSCSI and Fibre Channel for block storage. Every common operating system, hypervisor, and application is supported. TrueNAS uses OpenZFS to provide unlimited point-in-time snapshots, allowing you to roll back and access data as it was. TrueNAS is a proven way to mitigate virtual machine corruption, user error, and ransomware attacks like CryptoLocker.# True Performance TrueNAS delivers a perfect balance of price and performance that puts many all-flash arrays to shame. It uses TrueCache™ to leverage RAM, flash storage and spinning disks for flash-like performance with spinning disk capacities and economics.# True Freedom Originally developed at Sun Microsystems, but now Open Source, OpenZFS is an enterprise-grade file system that iXsystems has delivered to more users than anyone. We pride ourselves on working closely with the OpenZFS community to help make OpenZFS the greatest file system ever written. Thus far we've deployed iXsystems into Education, Aviation and Security organisations. If you'd like to know more about what they can offer, click the link below Partner Announcement - iXsystems - Haptic Networks Thanks for reading Joe

Hi Pete, Smoothwall worked along side E-Safe for a good while and they were separate entities. Smoothwall HQ then developed their own product which is Visigo. So in short, an actual Smoothwall product. However, you do not need to have Smoothwall in place to run this. If you have Smoothwall in place already then the cost benefit is that there is no extra charge for Visigo Support. You already pay this with the Smoothwall product and so it can be is zero costed. Hope it helps. Chris
