  1. We're not in any position to dish out Nobel prizes but surely it'd be shortlisted....
  2. To hell with Health and Safety, we need these in our lives.
  3. Congrats on the new arrival! Funnily enough this is a pitch we've heard many new/expectant fathers try to justify (normally to their OH)
  4. Carry on like that and we'll be trying to poach you!
  5. Deeecent. Although your job must be tough for someone your height! Here's our collection currently, sadly our shrink ray is on the blink.
  6. We asked a bunch of ICT staff
  7. Sorry @LiamH you beat us to it! The theme is excellent (big up @ZeroHour ) Make sure you check out our Star Wars Lego prize draw thread. These aren't the droids you're looking for. Land'Joe' Calrissian
  8. Superb, I hope people will...it's involving a lot of hand writing (our feedback has shown that the best way of reaching Network Staff is by personal addressed, hand written envelopes...I can feel the carpal tunnel already)
  9. Happy May 4th to you all. We love Star Wars, any of you lucky enough to have received our 2009 tri-fold calendar will have seen May 4th marked as an unofficial holiday. We also love mucking around with Lego. In order to celebrate our (and hopefully your) love of the combination we're holding the prize draw to end all prize draws...until next year. We're giving away a daft amount of Lego in our May 4th Prize Draw, full details here Lego - Star Wars Prize Draw - Haptic Networks Star Prize is the Death Star, plus loads of other excellent sets including AT-ATs and a couple of Imperial Star Destroyers for good measure. We hope you all get lucky, we also hope 'The Force Awakens' isn't poop.
  10. We certainly do, fear ye not. He's a great guy and you're not alone in your commendations.
  11. it's an interesting article, we had a demo recently from a security solution provider. Very simple web portal, all we did was type in some website suffixes ( including some well known businesses, building societies and schools) what we were then presented with was a list of all the entries that exist on the dark web. Some merely had email address and password information, others had full credit card details, postal addresses and even passport information. All for grabs at a modest price. We've been looking at offering a monitoring service to alert schools etc when details like this appear, the sources appear to be staff emails being used for online purchases before the info is leaked. Scary stuff. Joe
  12. Thanks @IrritableTech, it's all gone really well thus far. The watches certainly look the part, they're far more advanced than the Pebble I bought a year or so ago! Joe
  13. Apple Watch? Crikey, first mover. What do you make of it thus far?
  14. Ah why not, it fits the theme. It'll be a welcome break from organising my stamp collection! Joe
  15. After seeing the new logo someone referred to me as the 'Fresh Prints of IT' Joe

And iboss MobileEther’s easy over-the-air deployment and exclusive integrated security suite combine to conserve IT resources and lower your total cost of ownership (TCO). Full-featured Mobile Device Protection and Integrated Web Security Social Media Controls Application Management Monitor and Secure SaaS Data Device Enrollment Program (DEP) Support Seamless Directory Integration and Authentication Dynamic Content Awareness and Reporting Accurate Policy Enforcement on Shared Devices Full-featured Mobile Device Protection and Integrated Web Security MobileEther is the only MDM solution that secures both devices and your organization against Internet Threats by integrating device management and Web security in one solution. With one interface, organizations can wipe lost or stolen devices, dynamically remove unapproved applications and even disable device functions such as cameras. MobileEther includes the ability to locate devices with geomapping, remotely scan devices, and selectively wipe devices to assure privacy and lock or push apps. Email trigger alerts provide insight on administrator-defined events, such as when a device leaves the network, an unapproved app is installed, or when web access violations occur. Eighteen different triggers can be customized to keep you apprised of all user activity, whether on- or off-network. If you already have an MDM solution, iboss Mobile Security can be integrated with MobileEther disabled. Social Media Controls MobileEther allows organizations to create flexible social media access based on directory group membership. In addition, granular controls allow you to set policies for each social media user including restrictions such as ‘No Posting’, ‘Games’ or ‘Photo Uploads’ to social media sites. Application Management MobileEther gives you granular application control with the ability to push customized apps, update content on or off premises, restrict or allow app store access and more. Monitor and Secure SaaS Data Access to SaaS platforms such as Dropbox and Salesforce is vital for daily operations. However, SaaS can also expose your organization to data loss from unapproved transfers from the cloud. iboss MobileEther Behavioral DLP technology monitors SaaS data movements on any device to restrict high volume data movement from SaaS services and prevent costly data loss. Device Enrollment Program (DEP) Support iboss MobileEther MDM provides support for Apple DEP, allowing you to implement no-touch enrollment of all Apple mobile devices into your organization’s security policies, quickly and hassle-free. This feature enables forced automatic enrollment without administrators having to handle each device individually. User-based assistance ensures quick and easy setup so devices can be used immediately. Seamless Directory Integration and Authentication iboss MobileEther simplifies integration by binding devices to your existing directory services including Active Directory, eDirectory, Open Directory, and LDAP. Policies for both Web access and mobile device profiles are based on your directory profiles and consolidated through a central management interface, which simplifies setup, management, and maintenance. Dynamic Content Awareness and Reporting iboss MobileEther with Cloud Web Security is fully integrated with the iboss Threat and Event Console Reporter to provide dynamic content visibility across all actions, whether restricted or not. This information is live and up to the second across any device, anywhere. This dynamic visibility provides the information needed to detect suspicious user behaviour as well as provide the resources needed for regulatory compliance audits. You can generate reports using iboss report templates or create customized reports. Reported can be automatically scheduled and distributed on a daily, weekly or monthly basis Accurate Policy Enforcement on Shared Devices Authenticated users are bound via directory integration to their group or individual profiles but MobileEther can dynamically change device settings including Internet access rules, device profiles, and APP store access based on the specific user accessing the device. This is an essential capability in shared environments such as classrooms or laboratories where a single device may have different users. Dynamic policy assignment assures accurate policy enforcement and reporting, creating a more fluid end-user environment. If you are not a current CP customer but would be interested in learning more about iBoss please contact [email protected] to arrange a demo

  18. You can restrict email access to your Office 365 Users by removing their Exchange License. However if you do that you need to think about user experience and what the Office 365 service will then look like. What other bits of Office 365 have you implemented and are you using Student advantage? You haven’t mentioned which version of exchange you are running so I can’t advise what configurations or migration options are possible. But I can tell you that if you did migrate locking your students email accounts down the a defined set of addresses and blocking email from external fqdn’s is quite straightforward. My contact details are in the post above if you need some more bespoke advice.
  19. I'm certain I can help with this. If you'd like to call me I can discuss (free of course) When we get you sorted we'll post our findings. Andy Radcliffe - [email protected] - 01536 316878 - direct
  20. For a brief comparison against other vendors please see attached. Computer Products Clevertouch Comparisons.pdf Chris
  21. I would certainly recommend trialling each solution in situ and seeing how you get on with a couple of AP's from a few different vendors. You can compare specs and people's options all day long, but the proof is always in the testing/pudding! Chris
  22. I'd be very interested to see what independent evidence you have that backs this? Not least on the basis that any 802.11ac solution will provide potential for increased throughput when compared to an 802.11n solution? Also I could gladly point you towards a plethora of educational sites currently running a variety of vendors 802.11ac systems very successfully...not just Meru. Lastly, on what basis are you claiming that single channel architecture is an improvement on multi channel? The attached makes for an interesting read in the single v multi channel debate: Aruba WhitePaper: Single-Channel and Adaptive Multi-Channel Models Mark
  23. Have you tried asking Aruba support or even the partner that sold you the solution if this is a common issue? It could well be Bonjour, but there may well be a simple fix for it as I am sure you are not the first to experience this with Aruba. We find that with most vendors, issues are common and there is usually a straight forward fix for it. Just thinking about you running through everything and trying to save you some time It should't mean swapping out your AP's to another solution, that is for sure! Hope it helps. Chris
  24. Don't miss out on the chance for a free tablet for every board purchased before 31st March - you are at BETT so scan in!
