Totally agree. However for kids, as well as the initial mail-merge to email, we set up a PHP script on IIS that kids can log onto with AD and get their code, so we don’t have to keep looking them up.

Anything can be NTP as long as they're the same. Our firewall is our NTP.

Does anyone know anything about this? My colleague has downloaded what is on Keys to Success but the webpage still says 2020/21 and the year dates in the spreadsheet end in March 2021. She's being hounded by colleagues in school but presumably until it arrives online we can't do anything about it? Peter

Yeah we've got two Evolys Primacy printers, plus one brand new Magicard 600 in a box which i've not got round to hooking up yet. Main thing is to pay attention to the software and driver settings, regardless of the printer you get. 300 Student cards (mono duplex) printed with barely a failed print last week. Printing 180 Sixth Form cards yesterday took an hour of faffing because they kept jamming - I then remembered the time delay settings. Sixth Form cards are colour so take 4 times longer than mono, but the software was trying to load and encode the next card before the first had finished. For colour simplex, 5 seconds pre-encode and 25-seconds pre-print works nicely leaving 3 seconds between card-eject and card-load.

We're on .4515 deployed and maintained by PDQ but not seen the issues you're reporting.

I've just checked with my colleague who manages this more than I do; yes teachers can see the 2021-Year7 teacher as the owner/teacher of the class. However it's never caused any issues; I don't think anyone has ever asked about it. It is certainly the default way of doing it for Salamander; whether they force us that way or have other options I don't know. Peter

Just changed the rule to Accept, then ran a ping from the till which showed up in the log. All the values were as I'd expect. Changed it back to Drop then ran ping again - which it blocked. Then tried to browse - which still worked. So it looks like the firewall doesn't get involved with outgoing web traffic as presumably the proxy takes over. I've therefore created a Location for the VLAN IPs and used a Location Block to block web browsing, which is now working. Thanks for everyone's replies confirming I wasn't missing simple things.

The web filter is showing everything I'd normally expect, ie browsing normally from that IP address. Firewall log is showing nothing coming from that IP address, including the firewall rule I created (and enabled logging) saying to reject it. I did wonder about the VLAN tagging - in fact Smoothwall is NOT tagged into that VLAN and knows nothing of it, so even before I created the rule I did think maybe it shouldn't let browsing happen. Yes No The smoothwall is inline so regardless of gateway they can't possibly get on the internet without going through the gateway.

Ok, i'm stumped. So our Cashless tills (NRS/Civica) are still on Win 7 so i'm moving them to a separate VLAN and blocking them from the internet per Cyber Essentials. Done the new VLAN 21, un/tagged the ports, till has a 192.168.21.x IP address. Smoothwall > Network > Firewall Rules > New rule (at the top of the top): Source IP is (.21.0 thru .21.254), all and everything, reject. Save, apply, feed it chocolate, talk to it nicely, reboot it. The till is still browsing random tech websites that i've likely never touched in school before without a hint of regret other than the SSL login page. Why???

I'm struggling to actually work out what we're doing this summer?! We've no hardware refresh etc other than half a dozen projector > TV swaps but they're being done by our AV company. IT is all "Cyber Security / Cyber Essentials / etc" so MFA, password policies, VLAN isolation for CE etc.

Hi. Our SIMS server is 20GB RAM with SQL locked to 14GB, but SQL is using all the CPU (which is 2x2 vCPUs). Googling adding CPU gives hundreds of articles about the merits/cautions of hot-add, but i've no intention of hot-adding - what I want to know is, does Windows Server 2016 support adding more CPUs when the VM is shut down? In the olden days, changing cpu or motherboard would kill Windows on a physical PC unless you got drivers and chipsets all sorted properly beforehand - is this still the same with Windows Server 2016 on vSphere 6.7? Necro thread. I came across this thread last week with the same issue, and opened a ticket with Capita. Working with the engineer this morning, we ran the following SQL. (A joint effort because I found the SQL article but he had the knowledge to understand it) This looks in the master and SIMS databases for a principal called SIMSScheduledTaskUser - which in our case was completely missing from master, despite showing up in both SQL Studio > SIMS > Security > Users and SQL Studio > Master > Security > Users. Hello! So we're a school of 1800 students. ~1500 have school iPads on a 3-year scheme, supervised and managed by MDM/DEP ~300 have personal BYOD devices, primarily Apple/Android. Student-to-student messaging is on a huge upwards climb at the moment, since we returned from lockdown. Students are obviously using their devices significantly more due to Covid, but this means iMessage/Messenger/Snapchat/etc are popping up 24/7 during the lesson. About 3 weeks ago, we blocked iMessage via the MDM, and soon after we used "Hide the following apps" to remove Facebook, Messenger, Snapchat and half a dozen random messaging apps. That obviously hasn't gone down too well as it remains applied at home in the evening/weekend/holidays. What do your schools do? Time-based profiles? Onsite (*inc cloud-based) firewall/filter for Wifi traffic Global firewall/proxy (ie school devices controlled 24/7) This is a behaviour issue, not a technical one? Other?

I'm not LGFL but when we first moved to Office 2019, we had the same issues as you're reporting. After much faffing, the two keys below were the combination we required: Note the breaking space half way through Outlook if displayed on this forum.

Coverstaff01, 02, .... Hacked the SIMS Cover list (cover.html) to display the cover email address of the particular cover person so staff know who to email work to. (Powershell reads AD forename, surname, display name and outputs a CSV. PHP reads the original cover.html with coverstaff names and substitutes accordingly as it displays)
