My first two tickets I used WhatsApp and Phone side-by-side; the first one got answered by phone quickest, the second one by WhatsApp quickest. However the current ticket I have live I made an account at https://techdirect.dell.com/Portal/TechnicalSupport.aspx and logged the ticket directly into their system.

Apologies, just found Advanced on the framework. Their product name is different on G-Cloud to their website.

PupilAsset are Primary and MAT only. Advanced aren't on the GCloud 12 framework that I can find but i'll look at them.

Arbor Bromcom iSAMS / Ed:gen RM Integris SIMS Have I missed any Secondary MIS's? (Single school Academy, 1800 students)
-
Does anyone who has already jumped ship have any tender documentation they're willing to share as to what sort of questions/criteria were used? Obviously the weights and direction of every school is different but seeing other examples is always a good starting point.

Sorry, which part of the three questions are you saying no to?

A thought has just occurred to me. I know some schools use alternative companies for their SIMS support. How does this relate to the renewals we're currently discussing? Can we drop the (~£13,000) Capita 3-year renewal and move to a 3rd party support unit? Does this still provide us access to SOLUS patches, filesets and upgrades (albeit indirectly)? Is it the whole Capita cost we'd drop, or is there a usage license as well as the support cost in there somewhere?

That’s one of the reasons I do the template attached above. Their price will be £x for 3 years but I ask for it quarterly; that ends up in decimal pounds & pence which doesn’t add up on a sheet that only shows pence.

We used the multifunctional devices lot on the CPC framework. There's about 7 suppliers on it so we sent it to them directly, with a document specifying our requirements (copier A: 30ppm with stapler, copier B: ..... etc etc etc)
-
Biggest pointer is to provide them a template to fill in. Last time, we had 6 responses with the figures calculated in as many different ways so it took ages to compare like-for-like. The version I sent out is attached, with sample filled in by Apple for their brand new photocopiers (!) plus the blank for the supplier to complete. Supplier Costings.xlsx

https://winaero.com/how-to-export-and-import-file-associations-in-windows-10/ I used the DISM command on my own PC, having set the association to Reader DC manually, then copied the XML line out of it into our central copy.

I use TestDisk which is in bed with PhotoRec. Bare metal or otherwise.

https://www.windowslatest.com/2021/04/23/how-to-uninstall-windows-10-updates-manually/ Can you roll out the command line to uninstall somehow?

We were yesterday - one of our student uploads was failing with a "differentiation" failure. Did a manual upload in MIS:Sync then it's worked since.

Thanks for the replies. I want to clarify that SLT are fully behind me on this; it's me that needs to know where I can turn to, so I can suggest to them how much money they need to fork out. (No point them asking the meerkats for the best networking company and booking them without my involvement!) I'm not sure our LEA have anyone high enough - I know their 2nd line guys fairly well and I think they are there to provide 2nd/3rd line to the primaries and smaller secondaries - we're one of the biggest schools in the county and have IT to match it. However I will give them a call. The comment about CC4 is spot-on and part of the problem. Removing CC4, changing MIS, moving into Cloud and Cyber Essentials certification (*) are all on the agenda but when it's 9am before staff can expect to log on and 6 staff are entering cashless catering transactions manually because we've an unidentified problem, I can't begin to look at the planned stuff. (*I challenge any CC4 school to achieve CE with the PingCastle rules implemented on a CC4 network) Can anyone name MSPs or consultancies that they use and/or would recommend? Peter

So we are a team of 3 running the school of 1800 students (11-18), running RM CC4. Our combined skill set is absolutely fine (we have 11, 12 and 16 years experience in this school alone), and this thread is NOT about the ratio of IT to students. However there are times where something is wrong, Google-fu and Edugeek can only help so much, and you need that person who can bring practical knowledge of a situation rather than theoretical web reading. We've had 12-18 months of poor IT user experience as we bounce from one Big Thing to another and management are understandably wondering what's going on. RM are responsible for CC4 when we need them, but this current issue is vSphere-wide and even LAN-wide, well beyond the reaches of CC4. What sort of support beyond your four walls do YOU have when you need it? If the answer is 'a support company' or 'a consultant' - what form does that take? A named individual who knows your network and you can talk to directly or a 1st/2nd/3rd line helpdesk where you have to fight through the scripts to get anywhere near someone helpful? Pro-active or re-active? Access on demand or school-initiated response? Management know we don't want or need another one of me, telling me how to change my network - we need someone I can turn to for help when I want it. Answers on a postcard... Peter

Paxton has two types of door/gate reader. Their default ones don't read Mifare, you need to specify at point of order (or replace them with) the Mifare models. Net2 cards won't work backwards with Biostore/Papercut.

Closure of the UK Public Switched Telephone Network
howartp replied to Dos_Box's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Hehe, we have a SOHO phone system in at home (for church) and there is a splitter that feeds a spare socket bypassing the PBX in case of need. It is however behind a piece of furniture board that requires 6 screws to remove, as it didn't pass the WAF (actually MAF) being on display. -
You can have multiple profiles assigned to an iPad through Meraki. We do have his so exchange activesync credentials don’t keep blanking out.

This has been public for a few years so i'm surprised it's managed to pass you by. We upgraded our Avaya box 2/2.5 years ago with the appropriate SIP connectivity hardware in it, ready for when we do actually switch in the next couple of years (ie way before 2025). I've also had several calls "on behalf of BT" (yeah right) trying to sell me the latest and greatest. -
For 5 years we've used my Senior tech's office number. When his eventually hit this fictitious limit about 12 months ago, we moved to my other tech's office number - but that ran out very very quickly so they've obviously brought the limit right down. We now have users (staff and students) use their own phone, or occasionally a parent phone. For the very rare one, where we know it's going to be a pain any other way, we use my office number - i've only got 2-3 on it so far.

Unfortunately I've had a look and I've a feeling the actual issue I was recalling was with Options, not FFT. I'm sure it was the exact same scenario, but unfortunately my Options/SIMS person isn't in school today so I can't bounce my memory off her to see if we can get you any help. Peter

I’m sure we had this last year with SIMS and what you describe about Xporter is ringing bells. Ping me tomorrow and I’ll see if I’ve got any notes on it.

Yeah, sounds to be cabled correctly. Those 12 ports include your incoming line, possibly fax lines, and internal extensions. The numbering below matches the ports, so blue is 9, red is 10. The numbering above is for the LEDs, so LED 9 is for port 9, etc. You will need IP Office Manager on a client PC, then you'll need the username and password, which might be where you come unstuck. (Note depending on the backend, the username may be case-sensitive - ours is as we have Avaya's Voicemail Pro on linux, not windows) See screenshot attached of ours, and what you're looking for (though the ports will obviously differ).
