  6. what do you use for internet filtering? are there any logs in that you can look at? chances are if they went on the netbook, it would have connected to the internet and could have left a clue?

  8. I believe the exam in question is the Functional Skills exams? is that correct? We have the same issues here but we give them access to outlook express so they can go through the process of creating an email, inputting the data into the to/cc/bcc fields, the only thing they cant do is actually send the email which they don't need to do anyway. All they have to do is a screen shot. As for the internet access, we use schoolvue but you can any one of the many pieces of classroom monitoring software that will block the internet from a teacher station after 15 mins. James

  11. when I create the sysprep.inf, it asks what operating system I have and I can select XP home. When I reseal XP, I cant get it to look at the sysprep.inf file when I restart, is that because I am not choosing mini-setup?
  12. Im trying to sysprep a Windows XP Home netbook but after I have created the sysprep.inf, ive run the sysprep utility and I dont get the option to select mini setup. Its greyed out. has anyone seen this before and how do I resolve it? Thanks James

  14. So its fairly likely that by the time HTC release an official update to my Desire S, I will be due an upgrade in 12 months time. Can someone recommend a custom ICS rom for me us use? I haven't yet rooted so it would be good to get a link with some instructions how to do that too. Thanks James
  15. If I use the bootable CD, I can boot into PING. from there, I can create images and restore images. How can I transform a bootable cd into a bootable partition?
  16. That was my thought. This is where I am currently. I have used GParted to created a hidden partition. I have used a program called mbr.exe from Terabyte to do this This works and when I boot the laptop, it dispays a message for 5 seconds saying "Press F12 to boot the recovery partition". I have copied all the files from the PING bootable cd iso onto the hidden partition but when i press F12, it says "this is not a bootable disk. please insert a bootable floppy and press any key to try again." How do i get the hidden partition to boot the files to load ping?

I am trying to set up a laptops with the following configuration: 1 Hard Drive, 2 partitions. 1st Partition - Windows XP 2nd Partition - Hidden FAT32 Is there a way I can install PING (PartImage is Not Ghost) so that if i boot the hidden partition it loads the program? Eventually I want to turn this into a recovery partition that automatically reimages the XP partition. Thanks James
  19. I was able to install XP on my late 2008 Macbook with Lion. Is this a hardware or software restriction? When I ran the bootcamp wizard, i just used an XP disc instead of a Windows 7 disc.
  20. the machines are completely different. and yes... this is a last resort. The pc has a few programs on that we no longer have the discs for, and it will save me a lot of time!
  21. Just a quick one... I want to swap a 'C drive' from one computer to another. If I install the drive and then perform a repair install of XP will that work?? Is there a better way? Ta James
