1. When I plug in the charger, there is a bright white light that comes on. It then turns red to indicate (I guess) that the battery is charging. If i take the battery out and plug in the charger, it stays a constant white. 2. There is nothing. Its completely dead. I agree. Although I am completely stumped with this one. I am willing to try anything.

anyone got any good guides on testing the battery with a multi meter?

I have aquired a HP G62 laptop that wont power on. I have tested the charger and that is fine. I have replaced the small power button board that plugs into the main motherboard. the motherboard is getting power from the mains. Is there a way of turning on a laptop without using the power button? I know you can do it with a desktop by bridging a couple of jumpers. I have tried it with and without the battery and still nothing? Does anyone have any suggestions of things to try? Its a good laptop and i would love to get it working.

ok thanks. I didnt set up the backups, it was my predecessor. I like the idea of incremental backups. Would this work? Monday - Full backup to NAS drive. Tues -> Friday - Incremental backup to NAS. End of month - Full backup to tape to store in safe.

Sorry, I rounded up. Our current backup is about 650GB but i'm allowing for growth. Its a complete backup every night.

Hi everyone. We currently use tapes for our backup solution. I would like to move this to a nas box and then use the tapes to do a Weekly backup which I can put in the schools safe. Our current daliy backup is getting close to 1TB so it would need to hold at least a weeks worth of data. Can someone please recommend me a good one. We use Backup Exec, dont know if that makes a difference. Is there anything I should be aware of doing this? Thanks James

Sorry of this is a really obvious question/already answered, but if i install this on my machine and use it to generate a password for edugeek for example and then I want to log on to another machine without LastPass, can I still do that or do I need the software?

its only a test for us. We're more interested in the tablets usability as a device rather than what it can actually do. If it works successfully, we may look into other, better tablets. Can anyone advise on setting up a transparent proxy in with a cachepilot?

Weve just bought one of these. We want to test electronic registration on an android device but this version of android (2.2) doesnt allow me to change the proxy settings. Has anyone managed to find a way to do this with this device? I have tried a number of things already. 1. creating a shourtcut to proxy settings using anycut 2. downloaded this and this but neither seem to work 3. creating a APN to connect to the internet 4. downloaded different browsers to see if they have individual proxy settings. the only one that did was opera but it doesnt behave as I want it to when using the online SLG webparts in sharepoint. has anyone got any suggestions or ways to force the device to use a proxy server? Im not going to root the device and install a custom rom so please dont suggets that. We use a cachepilot as our proxy server and I believe that one way to solve this is to create some sort of transparent proxy. I dont know how to do this. Could anyone give instructions for a cachepilot? Thanks James

I have a Orange branded HTC desire S. There were reports at the beginning of October that there will be an update to Android 2.3.5 and a sense update to version 3.0. It's nearly November and I still haven't had any sniff of an update. Had anyone else on here had the update? I have checked manually for the update but it keeps saying no updates available.

You can input a username and password in GPP but what I want is for the GP drive mapping to run at logon. including the z: drive. Then when the user clicks to open the drive, it asks for their own username and password.

We are about to start trialing using sharepoint as a basic 'VLE'. Somewhere for our students to access files and work from the teachers. We already use it as our public website, so they will log in to the site and see a list of documents the teachers have put in a folder. The sharepoint server is hosted at our LA. In the sharepoint site, there is a folder that will contain the documents and I would like to map a drive to on my local computer so I do not have to log in to the website and upload the documents. All I will have to do is drop the files into the mapped drive. I can do this by using the command net use z: http://sharepointsite.gov.uk/website/folder it then asks for my website username and password which I can enter and voila, I have a mapped drive to the internet location where I can drop in files that students can access from the internet. Heres the problem... We use GPP to map drives. I have tried to map the drive for all staff but if fails because there is no username or password. It just fails to appear in My Computer. How do i map the drive for staff without authentication so when they click on the z: drive, it will ask them for their username and password. I hope i have explained clearly enough. Thanks James

OK, so the policy was applying to computers outside of the OU before you applied item level targeting to the GPO? You made it sound like the error was caused because you had item level targeting applied. can you run a group policy result in the GPMC to see where the computer is getting the shutdown task from.
