That's it failing. It should give you the option to stop recording. Its not just the kids. It fails for me as an admin even using the unfiltered staff proxy. Does anyone use this site in the south west grid?

hi guys. can someone test something for me please... anyone in the swgfl, can you access a site called voki.com, click on create at the top of the page. In the section that loads, click on the microphone to try and record some audio. When I try it, it fails with an error. Everything else on the site works, but i cannot record audio. thanks James

Ive got this but its not very user friendly. Its great if you want to watch a film or scroll through tv shows, but as soon as the doorbell rings or you need to get up and do something and you have to quickly pause what your watching, you have to grab your phone, unlock it, load the app, find the Now Playing section... by that time, youve missed a minute of what youre watching and then you have to fuss around with trying to rewind it on your phone when you get back. Its far too clunky and there are too many key presses for my liking. I want a physical remote that I can quickly press the buttons and so can my girlfriend without having to ask me how this funny app works on her phone.

Hi guys, Ive got my raspberry pi with raspbmc installed and set up perfectly. It works like a charm. to make it a bit more user friendly for my other half, i bought a cheap remote contol off amazon. i plugged it in and it worked for about 10 minutes and then the battery died. So I bought new batteries and they died in about 20 mins. obviously a faulty remote so I need to sort that out, but thats for another time. I also have a media centre remote like this one. Its not this exact one but is very similar. On the back it says RC6 ir. I do not have the receiver for this. My question is should I be able to use the remote with the ir receiver from amazon? If yes, how?? Thanks

Bingo!! Thanks steve. This is all on test folders anyway. Ive just tried it and it seems to work. Ill test it properly now and then I will make the changes to a script which will hopefully automate this folder creation. Thanks again

Exactly. I want to protect subfolder1 and Folder1 from being deleted.

Thanks guys. so when i said they have modify permissions, what I actually meant was they have special permissions which I thought was equivalent to modify. It appears that the permissions are not quite the same. They are set to allow delete subfolders and files rather than delete, like you would get in Modify. Ive set it like this to protect Folder1 from being deleted also. Any suggestions?

Im trying to set up some folders with customised permissions in order to create a work 'hand in' area. It works perfectly except for one thing. This is the basic folder structure where the problem lies... Folder1 - studentuser1 has modify permission for subfolders and files. --subfolder1 - Inheritance has been broken. studentuser1 has read and execute. Delete is denied. Here's the problem. Studentuser1 can still delete subfolder1 if its empty. If there is a file in there, they cannot delete the file and therefore the folder. I thought that an explicit deny took precedence over an explicit allow. Am I missing something really obvious?? How do I stop studentuser1 from deleting subfolder1 whilst allowing them to create and delete files and folders in Folder1? Thanks James

Morning everyone. we have got 10 licenses for writing with symbols 2000. When you install it on a machine it takes a license off the disk and then you are supposed to uninstall it using the disk to reclaim the license. As you have probably guessed, I cannot uninstall it properly as I've reimaged the machines in question. Does anyone know how to reset the disk or bypass the check. Like I said, I do have the license, I just cant use the disk. TIA. James

I did the same with our new school building here. I used Yawcam with a laptop and a webcam. It was easy enough to set up and then you have all your images to create a timelapse. James

ive just bought one and as already mentioned, I had a bit of trouble convincing them that we own the sch.uk domain but after a few phone calls with their support, it was ok in the end.

Hi everyone, we have got a Tandberg TTC7-14 video conferencing kit with HD camera that never gets used in school and I would like to try and use it in an interesting way. Can someone recommend anything that we can use it for? I know that we are probably limited in our choices but its just sat there at the moment doing nothing. Cheers James

we use a paper based system for paper based reprographics (can I have this page of a book 20 times) and email for electronic submissions. I did trial a sharepoint solution not long ago but nothing was as simple or effective or simple as email.

ive used this trick a few times now on a few bits of kit. Always get a few funny looks when I go to the cookery room and ask to borrow an oven for half hour with a circuit board in my hand.

The machines have been cloned, but they would have been resid'd and renamed before being joined to the domain and added to SOLUS.

Im trying to deploy the SOLUS3 agent to a number of workstations and im having a few problems. I have installed it on 90% of the machines but there are some that arent working. There are 2 error messages appearing in SOLUS3 on different machines. (all XP SP3) 1. Error occurred obtaining data from the remote computer 2. Agent installation timed out (not sure of the exact message, im not sat in from of the server atm) So ive done some searching and performed a number of things to try and fix it but it still will not deploy - ive made sure that the firewall is disabled on the client and the server. - ive checked the WMI service is running - checked the properties of the WMI control and ensured that the administrators group has all permissions ticked. - checked the event logs of both client and server but there are no entries. - updated the client fully - cleared the dns cache on the server and client. - restarted the client and server Im running out of ideas now and need to get this fixed asap. Are there any logs recorded anywhere? how can I access them? can I install the agent manually to see if I get any errors? Can someone help me please!! Thanks James
