Lightspeed Rocket - Lifetime setting
Admiral208 replied to bodminman's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
The tier is set up so that users only have to authenticate if they are unknown. If they log on to a domain machine, they are a known user because the light speed agent is installed and they don't have to manually authenticate. Its handled automatically by the agent. -
Lightspeed Rocket - Lifetime setting
Admiral208 replied to bodminman's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have it set up to request authentication if the user is unknown. The lifetime is set to 45 mins. If a student tries to access the web on an ipad or other unknown device, they have to authenticate. The lifetime then runs out after 45 mins ready for the next lesson. If the user is at a domain desktop/laptop, the lightspeed client deals with authentication and it will last for as long as they are logged in. -
Hi All, If we have a single copy of Logic Pro X, can I take the samples and loops and deploy them to other macs to use in Garage Band? Is that allowed and has anyone done it? Thanks

In the past, ive used vnc to achive this. All you need to do is connect your mac to the rasp pi with a network cable.
-
youve got a link just for internet radio??
-
To be fair, it does say failed. You pointed that out yourself. It also says partially successful which is also correct. I see your point though, its not very clear.
-
It successfully deployed the installation package but it failed to install it??

Yes, im sure you can do it with clonezilla but ive only ever used ping as ive used the software before. Ping does allow you to save and restore over a network but it also lets you save to local partitions. Perhaps you should test out the software first before you spend the time trying to get the recovery partition working.

Ive done this in the past using a program called PING (Partimage is not Ghost) look here towards the bottom is instructions on how to use lilo boot menu to boot to PING and therefore restore an image. takes a bit of setting up but as you said you don't mind that... here it is.

They are all networked already. What software are you using to schedule the shutdowns? Do you have a link? What youre describing is exactly what I need. Thanks

Hi All, I want to be able to turn off all our network projectors (Epson EB-470) around the school using a scheduled task. Ive looked into PJLink but can't seem to find much info on how it works. Does anyone else use this? How can you schedule it? Is there a better way? Thanks James

I've tried this but the user still gets the workgroup settings from the original workgroup. Are there any settings I'm missing to get the outcome you mention.

Bump anyone?

Hi everyone. We have a few workgroups setup here, one for staff and one for students. Users are added to these workgroups by adding the Windows global security groups to them. eg 'DOMAIN\Staff' windows security group is added to the 'General Staff' apple workgroup. I want to set up a new workgroup, 'Power Users' with some different settings that allow greater access and therefore less restrictions in the workgroup. I would like to add these users individually by name to the workgroup from AD. However, these users are also members of the 'DOMAIN\Staff' security group. Here's my question. How do I stop this user from picking up the settings from the 'General Staff' workgroup and only get settings from the 'Power Users' workgroup. i cannot remove the users from the 'DOMAIN\Staff' group as this controls different things when they log into a windows pc so please dont suggest that... Thanks. James

[php] stop students accessing parts of intranet
Admiral208 replied to Admiral208's topic in Web Development
I was looking at windows authentication yesterday. When I enabled it, it would ask me to log in when I navigate to the page but even if I entered my admin details, it would not allow me view the content. How do I automatically pass the username or security group to IIS to allow or disallow this part of the page. Would I include your script on the page that's being displayed or the page I am calling? not had much to do with php until now... -

Hi Guys. we have a small php site which is our intranet. on our home page, I want have this line <?php include 'support.php' ?> which is basically a page with a small pop up in the corner with a link to a web page. My question is how can I stop this loading when a student access the page? I only want staff to see the php include. The site is in IIS on server 2008r2. Thanks James

How about this. Crafty Syntax Live Help I found it the other day looking for something else. It looks a bit old school and I have never used it but thought it looked like it might be useful.

Hi everyone. How do I remove drivers from the management console? I want to update a wireless driver, ive added it to the RMMC but after I rebuild the laptop, it still picks up the old driver. When I right click on the old driver, delete is greyed out. Many Thanks James
