I got the scraping to work last night for movies on my home nas. I used SMB rather than the option for windows shares. dont know if that makes a difference or not.

This is exactly what I found. I was using OpenELEC for a bit and I found it to be sluggish and not very good. I managed to download and install raspbmc last night by about 2am so didnt get much chance to set it up or download the addons but I was really impressed. It seemed quicker and much more responsive.

Sounds possible. We use sharepoint for requesting absence. The user fills in the custom form, it an email then goes to the appropriate people, they approve it then an email goes back to the creator saying if it has been approved or not. EDIT: Make sure you create the workflows in sharepoint designer. you get much more functionality than if you try to create it in the browser.

I had an email from them to say it had been shipped with Parcel Force using their 24 hour service. It came with a tracking number so you can trace where it is.

Hi folks, I have edited the hosts file on my macbook running Lion 10.7.4 but whatever changes I make they are ignored. After a lot of googling I have found that the hosts file is 2nd in the list when resolving addresses. It uses the my DNS server 1st. There are a lot of suggestions on the web about putting the modifications at the top of the hosts file and making sure the file is still in the correct format but nothing seems to work. There is also a suggestion to install a local DNS server on the machine but I dont want to do that. Can anyone shed any light on whats going wrong. Has anyone successfully modified the hosts file on their mac? Thanks James

had to check but, no. They are not. ive even tried explicitly denying the delete permission and I can still delete the file.

I have a desire s and I have trouble tethering to my macbook. I can tether to my windows laptop without any problems. Its an unusual role reversal where it works first time on windows and not with an apple device. I gave up in the end... Sorry, not much of a helpful post.

I think I am missing something really obvious here... I am trying to make a file 'read only' in a folder. I have modified the permissions as follows... - removed inheritance of permissions from parent folder. - given the staff group read/read & execute only. Am i right in thinking this is enough? when I test it, a staff user can still delete the file. What am I missing? thanks James

Thanks This is where I am now... I have set up the permissions but the problem is if I 'accidently' drag and drop \\server_name\public\staff\subfolder1 over the top of \\server_name\public\staff\subfolder2 (as though I wanted to move it), all of the contents of subfolder1 move into subfolder2 but subfolder1 is duplicated and left empty in its original location. Any suggestions?

deny delete also means that the users cannot delete files and folders. The only thing I can think of so far is to create shortcuts to the folders and make the folders hidden. That way you cannot drag a shortcut onto another but its messy and I don't really like it.

This is what i have already done. The subfolders with modify permissions are the problem. Once I create a second subfolder, I can drag it into the first subfolder.

Thanks. I have already set the share permissions to full control and I have already tried what you suggested. The problem is that if I set the permissions to modify on the subfolders within the Staff folder, if one gets dragged onto the other, it still moves the contents of the folder but leaves an empty folder at the root. This is my real problem.

Im sure this has been asked before but I cannot find a good enough solution anywhere. I am looking into the permissions of our shared network drives. The structure is this.. \\server_name\Public\Staff \\server_name\Public\Students \\server_name\Public\Office Staff get the Staff folder mapped as T: through GPP. the security for this folder is that staff have modify permissions. This is not good enough because if a member of staff wants to delete or move a folder with the drive, they can. What im looking for is within the Staff folder, they can read only the list of subfolders and then they have modify within those subfolders. Like I say Ive searched and searched but cannot find a suitable solution. Has anyone got this set up or is there a different way? Thanks James

I used to do a full backup every night but that was starting to take too long to complete and I found it was still running in the morning when I came into work. Ive now changed to a full backup on a Friday night and differential backups during the week. We use backup exec 12.5 and the job rate of the full backup is about 1gb/min. The backup rate for the differential backup is only 200mb/min. Is this normal for differential backups to be slower? Thanks James

As mentioned above, the normal fee is a pack of beer. i feel that if i take money from them, I have become their single point of contact if anything goes wrong in the future. If I charge £20 per hour, to that person, I am a business and they have no problem complaining to me when they mess it up again. A pack of beer indicates that its a favor.

@DSapseid I dont know if its just me but IMO the scrolling images move way too fast. I was trying to read the text and about 3 words in, it went to the next picture.

Came in this morning to find that our cachepilot has stopped working. It used to use LDAP to authenticate users but now when you try to access a web page, it asks for a username and password. When use the test URL function, it shows this information which I didn't used to before. The difference is where it says No cache file for external groups. Anyone got any ideas? Getting a bit desperate now.
