Thanks, Ill take a look at these today.

its already been built for us by the LA. All the schools have access to a particular site for their school. To start with we are using it internally as a shared calendar and documents, then I am taking over the reigns to develop the web part into something that looks half decent. As for the version, im not sure. how do I find out, until about 6 weeks ago, i'd never used sharepoint.

We are going to be having our website built in sharepoint. I know some of you will probably say that its not the best way but that's what's been decided by SLT so thats what I have to work with. I want to insert a photo slide-show similar to that of the one on the home page of the edugeek Joomla package with a Ken Burns Effect. I believe its called RokSlideShow. I dont have much experience in flash, I want something thats easy to use, free and wont take me a week to edit any new pictures I want to put in. Does anyone have any software that they know of that does the job. Cheers James

Its tomorrow. They have got the wrong date!!!

Has anyone ever had anything go wrong whilst doing a private job? Does it happen often? What were the repercussions? How did it get sorted?
-
Thanks everyone. Im defo looking into public liability. To be honest, the jobs that im gonna do arent going to be major rebuilds of servers, I am aiming at the small jobs in peoples homes.

I am going to start advertising my 'services' for private jobs outside of my normal working hours to earn a few more pennies. I have thought up prices, done a few leaflets to push through letterboxes. Ive got different tools for the jobs already. Is there anything else I need to do before I 'take the plunge'? Im sure other people here do the same and I would like your thoughts about this. one thing I am a bit unsure of is do I need insurance? or is it a bit overkill? What if something went t*ts up? Do you get customers to sign anything before work is started? Thanks James

You should put it in one of these

We have this problem here. Mostly with XP machines. If you rename the profile folder in their account to profile.old, the next time they log in the profile will be recreated. Make sure that you delete all old local profiles on the machine or the account will pick those up. It seems to work for us. James

I've done it twice! Once for the criminal court and once for the coroners court. It was so interesting. and as for your views on the UK legal system, as Witch says, now is your chance to see its inner workings and be a part of it. It might change your opinion.

Is this really your job??? Isn't this the responsibility of the person in charge of Health and Safety at your school?? It seems to me that we technicians are becoming more and more office typists who get asked to do things because people think 'I need something doing on the computer, Ill ask someone in IT because they can do it quicker than I can'.

Steps for Network Manager wanting to teach a class...
Admiral208 replied to ellisteph10's topic in General Chat
We have unqualified people teaching classes here when the class teacher has their PPA time. Personally I think its wrong because they get someone who isn't a teacher being responsible for a group of children. I have a lot of respect for teachers, they train for many years, and then any tom, dick or harry can come in and do the same thing. I know if it were my child i wouldn't want any old person teaching them. If the teacher is in the room at the same time, then I have no problem. For example if a teacher is not very good at spreadsheets, get someone who is, but I feel the teacher should be there at the same time. -
[video] You can only appreciate this if you're over 35.

Are you using powered video splitters? I had a case once where the projector would flicker really badly until I put in a powered splitter.

Hi All, I have recently installed Sibelius License Server V6 on one of our servers. It seems to be working fine except there are a loads of Events in the Event Viewer. Does anyone know what it means and how I can sort it?? ======================================== The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( SibeliusLicenceServerV6 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. ======================================== I have googled and there isn't really anything I can find. Nothing either on Sibelius site. Thanks James

SYNACK, thanks for this but the file isnt there. Does any one have a script that will work. I have created a .reg file, which works but the sound still comes out of the wrong device until I go into the sounds and Audio devices in the control panel. Then the computer seems to refresh itself and the sound comes out of the correct device. I am a complete novice at scripting but i'm sure someone out there must know how to do this with something I can run at Log on. Thanks James

Hi everyone. The music Dept. has just bought some M-Audio Fast Track USB recording devices. When the are plugged in, the default Audio Playback device changes from the internal sound card to the Fast Track device. Is there a script, or does anyone know how to change it when students don't have access to the control panel? Maybe a registry setting? Im sure this an be done... I just dont know how. Many thanks James

Sending to more than one shared email distribution list
Admiral208 replied to Admiral208's topic in Office Software
Its ok... panic over. I've sorted it now. There is an icon in the menu bar to send to all selected distribution lists. Its because we don't have our own exchange server. Exchange is run at county level for the whole of the region. Its a workaround that works for us. Thanks for the replies James -
Sending to more than one shared email distribution list
Admiral208 replied to Admiral208's topic in Office Software
Hi guys, Thanks but this doesn't work because the distribution lists are shared from another email account. which means they aren't in the list when you click 'To' and they aren't available when you click on the check names box.
