Sending to more than one shared email distribution list
Admiral208 posted a topic in Office Software
Hi everyone. This is probably a really easy thing to but but I cant figure it out!! We share set of distribution lists across the whole school. To send an email to one of these distribution lists we right click on the heading of the list and Create>New Message to contact. This is fine and works perfectly. How do I then add another distribution list in the 'To' field. If I follow the same procedure, I end up with a second new email message. Any help much appreciated. James -

anyone?? -
I have just installed the Edugeek Joomla package in WAMP and the first install screen shows these error messages: Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in C:\wamp\www\Jooma2\libraries\pattemplate\patTemplate.php on line 1424 Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in C:\wamp\www\Jooma2\libraries\pattemplate\patErrorManager.php on line 202 I have attached a screen shot as well. Does anyone know what the problem is here?? Thanks in advance James EDIT: I have also tried to install the standard version of Joomla as downloaded from the website. It installed ok but now there is a message saying "Error loading feed data" when I log in to the admin section.

Sometimes, if you flash the bios with an updated version, that will reset the password.

As previously mentioned, I normally have a spec in mind, a bit of research on the net tells me what I can expect for the money in the budget and I will look for someone to beat that price. It helps to have a regular supplier of equipment as I find they give you better deals. If you explain to them what you want and what you need then they can give you a good price. once I have decided on what i want and how many I then find at least 2 other quotes for similar equipment for audit, to show that we aren't fiddling the system and paying off the receptionists cousin who builds laptops for a living!! i don't set deadlines but do tell them I need them soon. I would only ever tell a company about another price if i thought it would make a difference i.e. they're going to price match it and throw in some extra support. But if one company is offering a lower price, go with them. hope that helps James

Hi All, We have relocated a few of our old IT Suite machines inton classroooms and they will be now standalone machine not connected to the network. I have taken them out of the domain and into a Workgroup and created a new local user. However, when i log in as his new local user, i get a message saying Program Manager \\PCNAME\NW_Profiles\Administrator\Desktop is not available. You might not have permission to use this network resource. How can i stop this happening? Cheers James

It can be done. You have to upload your video into the teacher resources and then right click on the file to 'copy link address' and paste into where it says VALUE"" between the speech marks. Thy this EDIT: Forgot to say paste this whole block into the page source code where you want it. James

Any Ideas anyone??

Hi all, At home, i have a desktop that runs Vista Home Premium and a laptop from work that runs XP Pro. I installed a Lexmark z735 printer on the Vista Machine, downloaded the most recent drivers from the web and it works perfectly ok. I would also like to print to this printer from the XP Laptop too. So i shared the printer and tried to install it as a network printer on the XP Laptop. It picked it up in the list, and installed without any errors. Now, when i go to print from the laptop the job would be sent, i could see it in the print queues on both machines but nothing comes out of the printer. After a bit of net searching, someone suggested that the problem was permissions of the \system32\spool folder, so i changed that to everyone having full control. That didnt work. Somebody mentioned the Print Processor, so i changed that from LEMF to RAW and it worked... once. I rebooted the machine to make sure everything was ok and now it doesnt work again. Now when i print from the XP laptop, the job just sits in the queue and doesnt go anywhere. I get Event ID 6161 in the event log but after reading the Microsoft article, i get nowhere. Does anyone have any ideas, or have you managed to do this yourself?? Cheers James

Hi all, I am having real problems with a web site the Maths co-ordinator wants to use. It is called I-Progress and uses Adobe Shockwave to run. I have installed the latest version (11.5.2r602). When it loads, IE8 just hangs. The really annoying thing is that it DOES work on about 40% of the computers here. I just cant get the rest to work. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, checked permissions, the MSI definitely works. It happens in Firefox and Chrome On a machine that doesn't work, the Admin account will load it up no problems, the student account wont. On a machine that does work, anyone can load it. I have looked at the registry for all shockwave entries and couldn't find any differences. Does anyone else use this I-Progress? I am really stuck with this, I have absolutely no ideas! It appears to be just this web site that's the problem, but it also appears to be some of the machines that are the problem, I cant pinpoint what's wrong. Someone must be able to help!! Please!! James

for some of the teachers here, I would start at real basics. Breathe in... Breathe out... Left foot forward... right foot forward...

Hi all, We have here two trollies full of 32 laptops for our students to use. until recently, they were unusabe because there was no wireless on site. The Governors have decided that we are allowed two access points in one classroom as long as they are situated 1 meter above the height of the ceiling! their argument is that they are worried about any 'waves' or 'radiation' coming from them and making the children grow a 2nd head!!! I have suggested that it would be a good idea to attach an access point to each of the trollies to allow them to be fully mobile. My question is this... is there any information that i can give them or is there a way of measuring something to show that these access points are safe and that we wont be creating the next generation of X-men?? Cheers James

Hi everyone. Im having a bit of an update on the schools website and i would like to include a number of 360 degree photographs of different areas of the school. The ones that you can drag left and right to see everthing around. Is there a way of doing this with a digital camera and some software, do i need any special hardware? I was hoping for something thats cheap (free) and easy to use. Anythin will do. Many Thanks James

Take a look at PING (Partimage Is Not Ghost) Once you have set up on machine the way you want it, if all of the machines are the same, then you can create an image of the original computer on a shared network folder, then send it out to the other computers either using PXE or a bootable CD. I think there is also an option to save the Image onto a DVD and then the other machines dont have to be near a network point. If the machines arent the same then you will have to use Sysprep as Stig says. Just another option. James

Noka E71/75 or HTC Touch pro 2
Admiral208 replied to networkingNut's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Have you thought about the HTC Hero. I have had one now for about 6 weeks and its brilliant. It runs Android which is google's open OS and has about a million different things you can do with it. the Android 'Market' where you can download apps is huge, it has everything you could ever need. It has a touch screen QWERTY keyboard which is really easy to use, it displays full internet pages which are really easy to navigate. The only downside is that the current version of Android doesn't support Bluetooth file sharing, which you would really expect from any phone nowadays, and the price. I think its quite expensive. I was able to get mine as an upgade so i only paid £140 for it. Definitly worth a look!! James
