I think for a device that only costs £80 plus 2 drives is pretty good. Why do you think they are getting too old?? mines just going to sit at home with all my movies and music, a backup of work from a laptop.

Im going to buy one of these for my self. only thing is you need to buy 2 (if you want RAID) hard drives to go in it (or if your anything like us, you'll probably have a couple lying around).

I was given a subscription to PC Pro when I left my last job and it was really good. Don't think I'll be renewing though. I find there is a lot of information that is not what I want to know. Might try another though...

Is there a way to ensure that there is a leading zero in the time part?? When I ran the script this morning, at 8.57am, the file output was 20101117_ 857.jpg, is there a way of displaying 20101117_0857.jpg?? is quite important because the next time the script runs is 10am. this means that the 10am images appears before the 8.57am image because of the filename. Andydis, many thanks for this. Let me explain what i want to use this for and it might help you to understand (gets a bit complicated). I think I need a combination of VBS and a Batch to complete what I want. We are just about to start the building works for a new school (BSF). I have set up a webcam pointing at the works which takes a picture every 10 seconds and uploads it to our sharepoint website. The sharepoint site is hosted off site at out LA so I have had to map a drive to the folder on the sharepoint site and use YAWCAM to take a picture and save it it this shared network drive. This image is always overwritten. This means that I can insert an image into our site called Picture1.jpg and as YAWCAM overwrites the image every 10 seconds, the website also updates itself. This part of the process works very well. for those of you who want to see, go here. This image updates every 10 seconds. The next thing i want to do is create a timelapse of the event but dont want a picture every 10 seconds (over a 2 year period, i would have millions of images), only every 90 mins. So I want to copy the file from the sharepoint folder which is mapped locally on my machine. But because it always has the same filename, I need it to be renamed to Picture1.jpg. Then 90 mins later copy the latest image and rename it to Picture2.jpg. All of this needs to be done automatically so I might need a VBS to rename the files and a batch to run on the scheduled tasks on the machine where the webcam is attached. I understand this is quite complicated but im sure it can be done. Im just no good with scripts or creating them... TIA James

Show them. Take them to see all of your current servers and explain that you can condense them all down into one box, then tell them the benefits. Don't treat them like children, if they really are that interested in how it works, tell them in real terms, i feel that if you try to use analogies its often more confusing. If you start talking about 'these tables are less sturdy than this one bigger table' and 'filing cabinets that have one drawer and this filing cabinet that has more drawers' they are definitely going to glaze over. I would.

Hi All, I have a folder on the network and within it there is a single file, Picture.jpg. At regular intervals of about 90 mins, I need to copy the file to another location and rename it to Picture1.jpg. After another 90 mins, I need to copy and rename to Picture2.jpg. etc etc... Can this be done and if so... how?? Im sure some of you clever people can do this. Thanks in advance. James

Hi guys, The school is about to be rebuilt as part of the BSF process. I would like to use a usb webcam to take a photo every 10 minutes and upload it to our sharepoint website. I tried to use Microsoft's Webcam Timershot, and it works but when it sends the new photo, it always asks for confirmation to overwrite the old one. This cant happen because I can be clicking on yes every 10 minutes. I also had a problem with it deleting folders within my sharepoint site... very annoying. I have looked at Yawcam but I can't seem to find an option to upload to a website. (Cant use FTP so that's not an option.) Does anyone else do this? What software can I use? Many Thanks James

Watched the second one last night. Its the same as the first but less scary because you are always expecting something to happen like in the 1st one. There are a few times when I jumped but not a great sequel. wait for the dvd.

Jamie, Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that the site is a Share point web site. I had a bit of a development yesterday... I found that if I load up the developer options in IE and turn off quirks mode, it applies most of the css. I'm really new to all this stuff and not entirely sure I'm doing it correctly. There also seems to be two style sheets being used. I have uploaded the one that I have made the changes to, and also the default page of the site. so you can see the code in that also. Hi everyone, I have been playing around with the css for our website. This seems to have worked well in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. IE is another story. Please look at the screen shots to see what I mean. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening. Screen1 is IE. Basically, I have set a fixed with with a background image and this doesn't happen in IE. It fills the page on both sides. Cheers James
