  1. Morning all. our music teacher wants to access a site called musictheory.net. With the lessons page, there are a number of different sounds to play. however, they wont play. ive installed latest flash, shockwave, quicktime, audio codecs and it still wont work. Could someone check it out for me and see if it plays for them. go to the site, lessons, then go to the major scale. click the arrow in the bottom right of the screen until the yellow bar highlights "C major is: C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C.". to the left of this is a small speaker icon which you can press to hear sound (supposed to anyway) cheers James
  2. Glad its working now.
  3. Some kind of quality control must have picked up on this. Its like that task from the apprentice when he was attaching the legs to a little trampoline... YouTube - THE APPRENTICE - AN AMUSING & CLASSIC MOMENT THAT DID NOT IMPRESS SIR ALAN
  4. I would pronounce it Ram-sys and RAM (ramdom access memory) and SYS (SYStem). almost with a silent E
  5. If the RPC server is unavailable, you could for a short time turn off the firewall or add an exception. That helped me once when I had an RPC message.

  7. Thanks Tom, I'll take a look in the morning
  8. that says to me that the batch file didnt execute properly. make sure you are running the file as an admin. try logging in as local admin and running just the part of the batch file to delete the reg keys.
  9. Did you run this tool? What were the results? did you make sure that you ran the batch file as an admin? manually delete the SusClientID reg key. reboot. wuauclt /detectnow
  10. Do you clone the machines? pop that into a batch file and run on a computer. see if it makes a difference.
  11. have a look at the WSUS Client Diagnostics Tool here. might throw some light on the situation.
  12. Hi all, we currently use sharepoint as our website. Its good because it means that I dont have to worry about putting all the content on the site. this can be done by one of the ladies in the office. For our 'News' section, I would like to use a Content Query Web Part on the homepage to display the headlines of these news items. This is ok and I have set up the query and its displaying the results as expected. heres the problem - i would like to display the results one after another i.e. on the same line. currently, the results are in a bullet point style i.e one under the other. Does anyone know how to change this? many Thanks James
  13. Works fine on my HTC hero. Posting from it now.
  14. Have you made sure that IIS is running and that the WSUS site is started? That was a mistake I made. go to one of the clients and type wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow at the command line. That will force the client to show in WSUS
  15. if you're already running a site from the machine anyway, why cant you just add additional sites?
  16. install xampp on the server and create sites that way. edit: are they going to be public sites??
  17. So to confirm, the problem is that at random intervals, the server freezes. is there nothing in the event log?
  18. another vote for webhelpdesk. Ad integration and send users email updates. doddle to set up.
  19. At my old school, we had 3 of these and they are brilliant!! We used to enter competitions held at HP in Bristol. The kids had to program the robots to complete different challenges and compete against other schools. As trips go, thats a good one!!
  20. When i went 2 years ago, I took nothing. First stand i stopped at gave me a bag and a mug. It was then my sole mission in life (for that day at least) to fill the bag with freebies. the bar code will be scanned at the different stands rather than taking your details, they scan you.
  21. Is this happening because someone has sent something to print, or as a result of this happening, can users not print. What happens first? user prints or something happens to the server?
  22. Can you send jobs to the printers from the server? maybe you could try updating the printer drivers?
  23. This happened to me once. It turned out that it was a user sending a lot of photos to be printed. The print job was being sent to the server and the disk space went down to a couple of KB's. This meant that it took ages for me to log in to the server. Once I realised what was causing the problem I was able to cancel the print jobs from the users workstation to free up the space. But you have said that you have a lot of HD space. Do you have the drive partitioned? that was our main problem. Our drive was partitioned into a C and D. The D had loads of space bu the C (where all the print jobs were sent) only had about 1.5 GB free. not much when you send 2 GB worth of photos to print... EDIT: Just realised you said it was 2008. Our server was running 2003 at the time. Im sure the same applies though.
  24. The stat i put it is rated at 89 degrees. The factory fitted one is 90 degrees. Ive read that there is a bleeding screw just behind the carb. Do you know if its easy to do? I might just let it heat up and leave the filler cap off. Do you think that will do the same thing? Good luck with the MOT. I left mine about 6 weeks before i realized that it had expired. oops. Wont be doing that again!
