I have a friend *cough* who might have a MacOS VM as a test lab machine. But that is purely internal tech use. Just to able to do so licence wise on anything else.

You could look at http:// https://github.com/munki/munki and Comodo one to manage your macs. It’s not as straight forward as a decent MDM or as powerful in Comodos case but a reasonable start. I’ve not really used an mdm with Mac OS but persuaded our primaries of the benefits of one for iOS management has been worth its weight in gold. So much easier to deploy and manage those with mdm.

Interesting. I setup one recently for a school and they made me jump through more hoops than the previous few schools. Not down to providing ofsted reports though.

Another vote for Schools ICTS. We refer all our internet customers to them and every school that has gone with them for sims support has nothing but praise for them. (And school saves money!)

Our schools seem happy with the Fujitsu we use. a555 models, usually upgraded to SSD. 15” dvd, hdmi and VGA as standard.

We have contact with arbor and from what I’ve shown to schools they like it very much. My answer would be ‘anything but sims’ though. Awful software with costly licensing (or re licensing) and looks like it’s written in basic in the 80’s.

In South Yorkshire we’ve missed most of the decent snow. Had a little covering one Sunday which was fun to walk the dog in - but gone by the morning. The company I work for introduced me to them. We put one in at a school where the fibre run was out of their budget. It’s worked flawlessly to link 2 buildings at a reasonable speed. Been over 2 years through wind and rain. I just put one in at a Community centre place yesterday. Installation was very straight forward. Line of sight - these were nanobeams and although they operate up to 300mbps the nics in them are only 10/100 links! You’d need the AC2 version for faster link. Our sister company set up an entire wireless isp where the MD lives - because only ADSL was available. So I can say they work great to numerous users. (we do have some different models from the ‘trunks’ now). In summary, perfectly adequate replacement for a cable when in a smaller budget or as a temporary measure.

Yeah web based versions work. iOS app needs an account. You can add it into any school EES agreement though (at no extra cost).

We tend to use meraki systems manager. It’s saved so much time for everybody when it comes to pushing out settings and apps etc. It’s about £5 per device per year. It will save you so much more than that on management and deployment time. 1. Supervise devices jawing AC2 2. Install meraki enrolment profile (via AC2 or individually) 3. Sit back and admire your work (or spend time fixing something else) Sign up for VPP and get an Mdm !

When I ran a (small) business ebuyer were very good, despite a not always great reputation. Occasionally I had to be quite firm but 99% time no issues. I’ve also used personally without problems including returns. A business account does have different (less?!) protection / T&C’s though. Still they seem to be being a bit unfair. I’d kick up a fuss but ultimately take your money elsewhere.

Might be worth changing the away settings to a more frugal setting. It means the house won’t be as warm when you get in - but it won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Having said that, the problems you are having don’t seem to be with tado, nest or any other system, but rather a result of the house/boiler. Insulation and a more modern boiler would likely be needed before a ‘smart’ system - and would likely see higher initial savings. At some cost outlay of course !

Both. We tend to use a couple of Echo’s (for a third to set up now). But we also have hue switches for most areas. I downloaded ihueconnect app (iOS - not sure if there’s an android version) which slows much more control over the switches.
