I've seen lots of electrical faults get posted this past month on the Pug forum I frequent, just about all of them have been battery related, coinciding with the colder damp weather. It might only have 43k and FSH but it's still almost ten years old and parts wear by age as well as mileage.

I've had the same with a Pug 205 CTI, MX-5 and a couple of MGFs. They usually come from people like you describe, and they have no idea of the fun and freedom these cars give you.

I was having this discussion with someone yesterday about stop-start technology and how that's going to be an expensive thing to repair several years down the line when the car is out of warranty and is on it's third or fourth owner. I've gone back to an old Pug 306 diesel. It was an absolute pleasure to do a full service on it at the weekend, not have to worry about MAF sensors, climate control, dual mass flywheels, diesel particulate filters and the like. The ride is smooth and quiet and it still returns the same MPG as the 2007 307 I've replaced.

I didn't think much of last night's. And the bit where Lister was missing mankind seemed odd, considering they have / had the telepad device which took them to ancient Earth just a couple of weeks before, and various other places. Even in last week's episode there was a human woman. This series seems to be experiencing "Star Trek Movie syndrome" - all the even numbered ones are better than the odd!
