I'm getting very tired of the AA. As I do Peugeot diagnostics part time I'm getting lots more reports of the AA reading the fault code on their reader and basically just making a guess. It would be like us replacing a power supply on a desktop on the basis of a teacher's comments that it wouldn't turn on - completely ignoring the fact it might be the power socket switched off, fuse blown, cable unplugged or even a faulty power button. They'd condemned the ABS system on one car because it wasn't responding on the diagnostics. It was a dirty fuse. They've suggested to another owner that the high pressure fuel pump was faulty. It turned out to be bad fuel in an area of the North East. Peugeot knew about it. The SMMT knew about it. Why didn't the AA? They might be OK to pick you off the motorway, or help if you've got a flat battery, but I wouldn't trust one of their diagnostics.

Ditto at my old school. But the equipment was OK and worked without a problem. We just over-rode their videos and presentations with our own.

I'm in the same position, Millgate have provided a very good alternative quote to the manufacturer, so I'd suggest giving them a call.

Its sellers I'm having a problem with at the moment - three purchases from private sellers (not businesses) and all lousy: First was the F1 2013 game for the XBOX. Listed as being the more expensive "classic" version with the extra tracks. When it arrived it wasn't. Seller claimed it was Ebay's fault because it wouldn't let her update the listing. Got my money back but had to go through Paypal to get my return postage refunded. Second was an XBOX controller - missing the cable. Seller claimed they didn't know it was missing (all they sold was retro gaming stuff) and as far as they were concerned was complete. completely ignored me and the resolution centre. Ebay gave me a full refund and let me keep it. Final one was another stab at buying the F1 game again. This time the seller lived two miles away, he was quick to reply to my questions and happy for me to collect and pay either cash or Paypal. When the auction ended he changed his mind and said he wanted paying by Paypal. This caused problems because of the integrated postage. I said that I'd pay the full amount and he could give me the postage cash back. Once I'd paid he stopped responding or answering his phone. Ebay made me wait a week before cancelling the transaction, they wouldn't even give me his address so I could pop round and give him a smack, erm I mean discuss it in person. But Ebay business sellers - mainly ones for selling car accessories - completely faultless.

You missed off the "according to a report", so yet again its just speculation. It goes on to say "Brawn and Mercedes have failed to reach an agreement on a role in which he would have been happy to stay at the team." This is nothing new, Brawn said to the BBC a few weeks ago that discussions would be ongoing right until the very last race. I think the only real accurate F1 speculation which has any credibility is from Eddie Jordan.

I've been using Orange for years and have been very happy with the service and what you get for the money. I stick a tenner credit on at the start of a month, which gives me 300 texts and 1Gb of internet. I always get a good 3G signal. At the start of the second month I just let the £10 credit pay for calls, texts and internet, then stick on another tenner at the start on month 3, so I'm essentially paying a fiver a month. They used to do the phone fund (£1 off a new phone for every £10 you top up), and when combined with the public sector staff discount can give you a great chunk off the cost of a new phone.

F1 fans have changed a lot this year, and its not for the better. There's so much unjustified hate around just because of Vettel's success. Thankfully this has died out at more recent non Ferrari fan dominated tracks. The BBC were saying that he's the only driver who puts in a staggering amount of time with the car, the team, the technicians and even going to Pirelli to see how the tyres are made and how they change and "cure" over time and under different conditions. But some people aren't seeing or caring about that, they just throw around stupid accusations like the team are making illegal mods. Its like beating up the school swot for getting an A in his exams because he studied more.

We find the same with digital or video cameras. We opted for some very simple second hand Nikon Coolpix digital cameras which cost under a fiver each from Ebay, and Sony flip camcorders from the Argos Ebay outlet.

Yep, totally incompetent and refuse to acknowledge they make mistakes. Last year they sent me a tax bill for over £2000 and demanded payment as part of a self assessment tax return. I'm on PAYE as an employee so don't need to do SA. Cue lots of phone calls (most of the time spent on hold): Duration: 14 minutes Duration: 26 minutes Duration: 6 minutes Duration: 28 minutes Duration: 54 minutes Duration: 6 minutes Duration: 36 minutes which got me nowhere. They wouldn't give me any information at all, suggesting I "talk to my accountant". I didn't even have one. They said I did. They grudgingly gave me their details, an outfit in Newtown, mid Wales (quite some way away from where I live). Meanwhile the threats demanding payment continued, along with the daily penalty of £10 a day. The accountant confirmed that I wasn't his client, did a bit of digging but couldn't come up with any reason why. All he said was "do not pay, you'll never get the money back". He suggested sending copies of all my wage slips and P60's going back years to HMRC. After having to do it twice to two different addresses I finally got a written apology and explanation - they'd put someone else's NI number onto my tax details, someone with the same name as me, similar DOB but who did self assessment.

Ah, that old chestnut, based on this news report if I'm not mistaken: BBC News - School playing fields: 31 sales approved Totally ignoring the number that Labour sold, a number on the list were closed years ago. For example Gorsthills School at the bottom of that list on the BBC link was closed in 2007 (under Labour), the building has been demolished, and the land is surplus to requirements and has been laid idle for years. Or that the DfE later said that 14 of the fields were at schools that had closed, four were sites that became surplus when existing schools amalgamated and one was surplus marginal grassland on the school site, with the proceeds invested in the school library and better sports changing facilities. The fact they're called "playing fields" is a joke, they're nothing like. And I'd rather see them used for houses than green belt land. Closer to home, my school has some playing fields which are too far from the school to be practically used. They must be at least a quarter of a mile away and are just laid idle. By the time you've got the kids changed and out there, you'd only have ten minutes of play before bringing them back.

I know where you're coming from, Sheffield has the same problem. It tries a bit to promote itself then goes and tells tourists to go out of the city and visit the Peak District, and as a result lives in the shadow of its more successful brother, Leeds.

I agree. We rarely have issues with our PCs, so it wouldn't matter if we had 50 or 500. The bulk of our work is from teachers and their continued struggle to remember how to use their laptop and projector.

Is it a business worth investing in? Aside from the letters market which has long been declining, for parcels they have long been outperformed by private couriers. They need to address the price differences and flexibility between them and their rivals, the convenience of dropping your parcel off at a local convenience store and collecting them from the same place. There's also this recent Ebay - Argos tie in too. Having a parcel delivered to your home is nice, providing the postie actually carries it and not a pre-filled in "sorry you were out" card that he delivers with the utmost of stealth so you can't catch him!
