  1. BBC News - Fantasy author Pratchett dies aged 66
  2. Me too. I frequent various car forums and the general consensus is that this series is the worst so far. I think they were planning for a one week ban - that would have seen viewing figures surge for the following episode. But the BBC has called their bluff and cancelled the remainder. I say get guest presenters in like HIGNFY. Or better still, replace him with Guy Martin.
  3. Punched for not having his tea ready: Oisin Tymon named as producer in Jeremy Clarkson row – see the snap | Metro News
  4. We're having the exact same problem with the same projector. We put it down to power / earthing issues. At first unplugging the laptop charger helped. Then using a travel adaptor. But the problem has resurfaced.
  5. +1 to Luke at Millgate, a very nice person (and company) to deal with.

I like the Amy Winehouse UK tenner: http://lintel.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c5d3b53ef01a3fce1caff970b-800wi
  7. Two USB (Cipher Lab and Metrologic Voyager CG) and one PS2 (Metrologic MS9520)
  8. No MiFare's I'm afraid. The handheld readers should be able to read barcodes.
  9. For sale, a box of remnants of our old card based catering system - a mixed selection of scanners and card readers, a couple are boxed and unused. Not interested in making any silly money on them, just happy to help someone out who might still be using this tech. http://nwex.co.uk/temp/sale/cardreaders.jpg
  10. Three Netgear ProSafe Smart Wireless Controllers WFS709TP (one master and two slaves) and around 50 APs (I think they're WAGL102), with a number of power supplies and spare aerials. A couple of the APs are as new and boxed. No idea how much its worth as a bundle, there are a couple of controllers on Ebay at the moment, one for £70, one for £144. Access points can go from anything from a fiver to £20 each on Ebay. More pics and info can be provided if required. http://nwex.co.uk/temp/sale/netgear.jpg
  11. Never heard of him, is this why he's stomping his feet, to get a bit of free publicity?
  12. Another vote for Humax. I have an old Duoviso PVR-9200T freeview recorder and its still going strong.
  13. A decent switch should have good support. 4 hour response is typical. Make sure the configs are backed up regularly and you won't lose more than half a day, which I think is acceptable.
  14. Depends what's being burnt doesn't it?
  15. Doesn't matter how robust the equipment is, the problem needs dealing with from the other side - supervision and duty of care, cite H&S if you need to (exposed wires, sharp edges etc. ) Although it took a little time and effort on our part we narrowed damage down to one class and one teacher and they were warned that if the teacher didn't do more their department would be billed for the damage, with possible loss of access to the IT rooms if it persisted, not to mention lesson observations into his classroom management skills. I had an advantage though, I was an IT teacher in the past with my own classroom, so teachers couldn't give it the old "you're not a teacher so you don't know what its like".
  16. How did you get on with this?
  17. Showing I'm skint so working perfectly for me.
  18. They even got shut of their technical bloke in the pits, Gary Anderson. The BBC have dumbed the show down. https://f1broadcasting.wordpress.com/2014/02/10/anderson-bbc-believe-that-viewers-not-interested-in-technical-analysis/

  20. Not a bad haul for us this year and we're only part way into the week and already eaten some of it. The bag was full of bars of cadbury's chocolate and hob nobs! http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c134/gibbo501/IMG_20141217_095915472.jpg

I was surprised to see Jean Eric Verge racing in the Formula E at the weekend, he didn't hang about.

    Beards

Maybe its a hipster beard. They like to add fancy costs to everything - from real ale (£1.69 for a pint of good local ale from the Spoons, or £4 for a trendy one in Brewdog) to £3.20 for a bowl of cereal.

Bottas tweeted (gloated) that they'd been having some problems with it. I don't think there could have been any decision McLaren made that would have made people happy. OK, they have the big names, big former winners. But that's it, former winners. I don't think we'll see them as world champions again. The only happy medium would have been the 3 car team.
  24. Check Tesco Extra stores, some have a home brew section.
  25. I was reading the reviews for the £99 Tesco Blaupunkt TV - yes that world leader in factory fit car stereos has decided to lend their name to some third party manufactured TVs - and many said the picture was OK but the sound was terrible!
