  1. Not sure if it matters but I would always install on a server that shares out printers.
  2. Yes you as an admin can assign on their behalf or they can do it themselves via the links I posted earlier
  3. We signed up last year, for free, getting a domain and standard E1 licenses for free. You still have to run the dirsync utility to sync your Active Directory users up
  4. the point of this is so staff and students self enroll so admins dont have to.
  5. Students http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=506946 Teachers/Staff http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=512196
  6. We got last week 1,000,000 students licenses and 500,000 faculty licenses just by someone using there school email address to attempt to signup. If any one wants to add these licenses to the office 365 organisation/domain then I can post the links for student activation and teacher/faculty activation. Use any organisational email to do this. You only need to attempt this once for student and once for faculty.
  7. It's an accounting and print management solution. Used for restricting print jobs and reporting on print costs etc... Used now in over 50,000 organisations worldwide!
  8. We use presto with iOS security turned on for each printer so that the credentials are passed to papercut.
  9. On the sims management interface on your sims server, certain parts of the service don't like windows auth for the SQL db connection, changing it to the SA account or another SQL user worked a treat.
  10. All sorted now Thanks for the help!! :-)
  11. here you go: Case reference: 1503-3301715
  12. Hi folks, Just a quick on to ask for help if they have experienced any issues with the registering teachers on the Teacher Provisioning Portal? We currently get this error "Error - Unfortunately there has been a problem with trying to retrieve data. Please try again. If the problem continues, please contact your SIMS support team." We are waiting on a call back from SIMS with help but I thought I would seek other help first. We can provision devices OK, it just seems that the teacher data is not retrievable. We have checked our smoothwall and it is talking to capita and/or azure ok so cant see why. Strange thing is that when I created an external user using the sims tool, then login to the SQL management studio with it, I cant view any data tables, its as if there is no permission... Any help would be appreciated, Thanks
  13. Who cares if its blue and black end of! Now try search wiki for spinning dancer and see if you can get her to spin anti clockwise even though she is turning clockwise!! Some people can't see her spinning clockwise STRANGE!! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinning_Dancer#/media/File:Spinning_Dancer.gif
  14. I didn't like the web UI for PMP so I wrote my own in ASP and works on all servers. But in the summer we went to papercut so all that hard work went to waste, oh well. Main reason for papercut were 100% accuracy on printing costs and jobs, works with presto to allow air printing.
  15. I've just mentioned this in my previous post, Presto is an AirPrint solution by Collobos.
  16. ops, sorry SIMS, didn't see that bit. Got totally engrossed in the full details that it totally went over my head. What I am surprised with is the person who sent it to me never mentioned not to share. Lesson learned for everyone here, ready it, read it again, even the small print.
  17. We tried but went for presto for air printing. Only cost £200.
  18. This should answer your questions about security and data transport etc, its everything you need to know... SIMS-Teacher-App-Technical_Overview_Jan2015.pdf
  19. I think SIMS are going to take some business from Groupcall because we were quoted £2950 + VAT per year.
  20. Just a quick heads up to says SIMS are charging based on two subscriptions for customer WITHOUT SLG (SIMS Learning Gateway) 1 Year = £2 per pupil per year, but capped at £2500 per year 3 Year = £1.80 per pupil per year, capped same as above No other hidden costs, no software to install on your server, Association code sent to your school for staff to connect their iPad to your SIMS DB (SIMS app will connect to a SIMS Microsoft Azure site for activation). If you have new pupils starting the school halfway through the year, you will not pay for them until the next renewal of your subscription, a little grace period, thanks SIMS. Dont undercut on the number of pupils to save money as SIMS check school pupil numbers via Edubase. Rollout date for this is 9th Feb 2015 (Thanks to the lovely lady @ SIMS for providing me with this info)
  21. We have it working, we had to SSH into smoothwall and take a look at the raw live outgoings to find that it uses a few IP addresses that you need to add to smoothy. I'll take a look on Monday what we have done and post back.
  22. Hi, I can receive a Wol packet to a PC. So I know the network is ok. If I send a WOL to a PC within 10 seconds of it being shutdown, it turns on, but if I WOL any longer after that it won't turn on? Any ideas? I have the latest drivers etc, does anyone else have/had the same issue with HP machines?
  23. Don't think you can, I was only bothered about the photos/videos which you can access via Google+ They were all there nice and safe, used google keep for notes, google contacts and Google email and Google drive. So all the important stuff was on the cloud. I guess if you logged into another android phone with your Google account and see if offers you the chance to restore...
  24. When you factory restore your phone and go through the post-install questions and signin with you google account it will ask you if you if you ant to restore a backup.
  25. Cheers folks, I checked and everything is backed up on google, and I mean everything. So I reset the phone and restored the backup. The update just appeared last night for the nexus 5 on Vodafone. 13.3MB in size, so very minor update.
