Just finished the 3rd Outlander book by Diana Gabaldon. A 1950's English nurse slips back 200 years to Jacobean Scotland and ends up meeting the love of her life, a minor Scots nobleman. Brilliantly imagined and detailed. I think the books are better written than Game of Thrones. The TV series was pretty close to the books and wasn't bad either.

I just saw this thread and thought it said Witch doesn't like Windows 10. I'm guessing she doesn't either.☺ Any new o's will have some odd issues but I look at the major things that get broken/fixed/broken again and feel glad there's only 1 win10 laptop so far. That just randomly loses printers and drives. Unimpressed.

I've seen this behaviour on a couple of old school Acer Extensa 5630's running Win 7 x32 after their wifi was upgraded to Unifi AC-Pro a couple of months ago. I've not seen it on the older Unifi AN-Pro's anywhere else. After wasting too long on this (drivers, deleting networks, resetting various things) , I just fitted a couple of miniUSB N wifi adapters as a bodge because I ran out of time. Would be curious what the internal 802.11G wifi adapters are as maybe that is the problem? They have various other win 7 x32 laptops which connect ok.

Interestingly I've seen this recently too as VSC has intermittent errors and this may be a cause. Physical Server2012r2 with RM CC4.5 Drive c: around 27% fragmented although it's supposed to be scheduled. Manual run has fixed it but I'm curious what is happening.

Hmm. PS2 sockets used to have a small fuse on the motherboard to prevent things like this. Curious as I thought USB would current limit in the same sort of way.

Also no chance for letters home being "forgotten" in the bottom of a school bag...

We've had the same problem on a few mounts. Some are quite corroded (sweaty classrooms?) We sometimes found a good quality mole grip can undo these if the Torx/Allen recess is rounded off. Can you tighten it up slightly first to unstick it? Also see if you can prise up the plastic collar and gently rock the fitting to free it up. Only if the fitting is really solidly mounted in the ceiling of course. Maybe a drop of WD40 on the thread only if you can see it. Good luck. May the edugeek force (torque) be with you...

Hi, bit late but just going to add that we had to give authorised users read permissions to c:\readingassistantv4data folder. to get it to work. This is also the folder to copy/backup to save user data. We setup a robocopy job to backup those folder occasionally (it's only on 4 PC's here, but is used a fair bit) Annoying that it needs the disk in the drive to work, but I guess it's one of those that needs "Windows 98 or higher and 1GB RAM " to run... We also found that screen size was too small. To fix it, login to reader as a teacher user, click default and set video to full screen and save

Back in that school today. Will try and have another look! From memory I think we had to change permissions on the folder but I'll try and check unless we have another mad day.

Yes that's what we do. Our main Backup is a nightly Attix cloud backup with a weekly veeam endpoint backup to a qnap nas in a different building. The free veeam endpoint backup seems excellent. We've also been looking at duplicati. This has options for encryption and backup to cloud providers such as Google and Amazon. Also sounds a bit like Ducati so reminds me of my old GT750 (digression..)

We had that problem. This fixed it for us. https://www.qnap.com/i/uk/qa/con_show.php?op=showone&cid=230 You could also setup iscsi which also worked for us. We used vee am endpoint backup in the end.

Yes. We have it working ok on W7 x64 and x86 previously and on CC4 . I think we had to look at permissions to get it working though.

Another vote for the TC2. Fits on a standard 1G back box for a nice neat install.
