Yes. By coincidence one of my schools has an old Bretford trolley and lost the safety device. Bretford helpfully suggested a timer unit with safety relay. Wasn't ridiculously expensive considering the timer will save some electricity too. PM me and I will send details. If it's not Bretford maybe there are parts on ebay.

Worth a check for BIOS upgrades? Some of the RM Ones had all kinds of weird problems which were to RAM but got fixed with an upgrade. If it will do it, see if it will take RAM in the other slot. Also, can you try pxe from a boot menu or in bios setup rather than F12 right at startup. Good luck!

Agreed. I charge around £28 an hour or £180 per day plus travel mileage. I have several thousand pounds worth of tools and kit to fix problems quickly too. Less of a problem with software only support I guess.

Forgot to mention CPC. Great for small but annoying things like screws, cables batteries adapters tools cards etc. Not always so good on whole items like PCS laptops etc but sometimes good value end of line printers etc. Preston people can even collect from their trade counter.

I like the RM ebooks library. Good buying, management and control and fits around school needs not a random corporation's ideas.(looking at you Amazon, Apple etc) Borrowing or buying is a great option and nice that kids can read at home too. Useful CPD stuff for staff too. App for android, don't know about ithing. Some titles are free (read Moonfleet on my phone to see if it was possible. A. Yes, just about.)

We've just done this and used this shop.inteset.com/windows-kiosk-software We spent ages faffing about with all kinds of group policies etc but in the end this just works. We lock the laptop to the table with Kensington lock but it's a 7 year old Tosh with a dead battery so no harm done if it walks.

Are they using Chrome by any chance? I've seen a problem with Chrome not opening Easy mail attachments. Also IE11 with Easy mail seems to need compatibility mode for some things.

I echo this. Our experience has been disappointing. 7 months before it was done and then randomly live without telling us. Loads of content missing and generally inflexible. I was staggered to find how much it cost and we provided all the photos too. Ongoing issue with the old Web address giving broken links instead of forwarding. Not impressed. I knocked up a personal website with Serif Web plus for £50 which I reckon is just as good.

+1 that. We've just had our hall lighting renewed and used a decent local AV company for the kit and setups and our local electricians to do the mains rewire. They've worked here before so know the setup and did a great job. Saved £600 as the original cabling was still to spec. We found this AV firm by asking other schools for recommendations.

We have the same problem. Some USB keyboards seem to work ok so we keep one that does to plug in the front USB port when we need to access pxe or BIOS. On the positive side it does stop the kids getting into the BIOS setup!

Another +1 for crashplan. The free version will still backup to a local device or machine which is handy for people just wanting a USB backup or two. Cloud version I've found excellent.

Mrs. South hamster has an Epson stylus pro 3880 which does up to A2. Stunning quality especially with really good paper like Canson. It can print with no borders but it is problematic. I'd say about 10-20% either smear or get caught. With the price of ink and paper she prints a 3mm border which usually works fine. Dont know if Epson do an A1 printer but the 3880 is pretty solidly built.

I also saw this on Monday. I think we used compatibly mode to fix it. There's always chrome or Firefox of course. Since Google went to SSL search we have seen quite a few odd things happen but they usually get resolved fairly quickly. We are on CC4.5 with non transparent SWGFL proxy if that helps.

We like to have on site NBD warranty for staff laptops for quick repair and data security. We find i3's are fine and still want DVD players.
