    Yes we use duplicati. It backs up our 30 or so encrypted staff laptops to their own gdrive daily. It has saved their bacon a few times and let's us quickly restore their data to a new laptop. Occasionally Duplicati breaks a backup but it's quick enough to reinstall the profile. Duplicati monitoring website https://www.duplicati-monitoring.com/ sends a daily report of all the backups. Brilliant. Having said that we use VEEAM free to backup to our NAS boxen as it's more solid.

    We've had an email informing us that 3 Chromebooks have been allocated but no idea what I have to do with them.

    Working from home and getting overtime that's exactly what's happening for me! I've gone from 9 hours a week to almost full time!

    I tried this today and it worked from my school Gmail account perfectly. Still a bit bemused at using a Gmail account on a Microsoft product!

    Work with SLT to devise a new folder structure and then get everyone to move what they want to the new structure. We also sync our folders back to the local drive so we have a local copy/backup as well. We set a clear date for it to be archived. I'm getting requests from staff at home who want stuff off the old drive which can be when they aren't sure exactly where it is! Overall it's worked very well and got staff using Google docs etc to edit shared docs.

    We setup a couple of test classrooms for staff to login as teacher in one and pupil in the other. They can try things and gain confidence before doing things for real.

    Just watched war of the world's on nowtv. The joint French/UK version. So much better than the recent BBC effort.

    Our head mentioned that we have been offered 3 - luckily he sensibly chose chromebooks. Yes!

    I watched it earlier - well presented and very useful, and a few things to check on our own g-suite setup. Interesting to see the advanced features of the enterprise version, but we can't really justify the extra cost. I'm sure we would have managed with MS instead, but I really like the relative simplicity of g-suite; it has been reasonably straightforward to look after during lockdown, although we do use RM UNify as a front end for SSO.

    We found deleting allowed sites for Google hangouts and meet in chrome settings forced it to ask again which then worked.

    Our administrator emailed earlier to say she has managed to upload a CSV successfully for the first time today and is pouring herself a large gin. It comes to something when it's a surprise that a basic function actually works. She has had to manually add them before which wasted hours of time.

    Does that model have a keyboard shortcut eg Fn F10? Might be worth turning it off, check device manager and then turn back on. We've had all kinds of odd problems with webcams and different solutions.

    I've forgotten what colour my car is! Haven't seen it for four weeks. I hope it's not lonely out there. I've noticed loads more cyclists from high speed Billy Whizz to Dad and wobbly child in tow.

    In some ways Chromebooks could be a good fit provided that every use case would work through chrome/android.

    Still got my draytek 2820 in tobacco yellow from the fag smoking office it was in! Draytek even release firmware updates for it occasionally. Not bad for an end of life product from 2011.

    I've had success fixing a couple of these in chrome settings, privacy,site settings. Open Camera delete Google chat and meet web links. Do the same for microphone. Next time it should ask for permissions anew and it works!

    09:55 and the admin login page won't even load reliably. All the signs of a server buckling under load. This is really not good enough. People will go hungry because of this.

    Still the smae problem of orders "pending". Our administrator contacted the helpline and apparently they are "upgrading their system" and it should all be ok after the weekend. Looks like that Intel celeron server with 2GB RAM wasn't powerful enough after all....
