Hi we are currently looking to implement a new VMware enviroment including a san. When we have migrated to virtual we will be left with a few servers,. I was wanting to host the servers off-site and with a nas os on them. What is the best way to automate backups to the remote location, to the nas. Has anyone got any suggestions for software etc. Thanks:)

If your server has wss on which I have it works really well because it works with backup exec 11d remote agent and dont have to backup cifs shares this would be quite hard to setup. Windows storage server does not have all the services etc that server 2003 r2 has.

Hi we have 7 servers in our school. The page file is different on all servers. For our Sims server we have 4gig of ram and the page file is set to 2gig. Please could somebody tell me what to set the page file to if we have 4gig of ram in our server? Should I let windows handle it or set it manual? Should I set memory usage for programs or system cache? Thanks

Hi we currently use roaming profiles at our school. We have the desktop and my documents folders redirected with Ranger software. I have a problem with slow logins. I think this is down to application data that was 56mb, due to java in the user’s application data. If I use mandatory profiles the users will encounter problems when login into different machines with software on them. Please can anybody give me any advice? Regards

Hi we are running backup exec on a backup server. Each server backs up over the network to the backup server disc. The problem we are having is that is taking far too long to backup. For a full backup this takes over the weekend and is sometimes still running on Monday morning. The daily differential is run every night, this takes from 6-6 to complete. Can anyone think why this is so long? 50 hours for just under a terabyte, on the network Thanks

I would go with lenovo, you do get what you pay for. I would also look at the warrenty. Lenovo are a very good make and are rebadged IBM and IBM are the best.

Hi please can I have some advice. We are currently running our network on FS726T netgear switch. The netgear website says it is suitable for small to medium sized business. Our school currently has 1700 users and 600pc/laptops, would you consider this to be a medium sized business. Do you think we should upgrade to layer 2 switches? Thanks

Hi we currently have 7 server’s at our school. I am looking to buy a Nas/San server. I have asked netapp for a price. It was far too expensive. This is going to be used for all student and staff home area’s and for roaming profiles. Any recommendations for a file server?.. Thanks
