Shows seem to be getting longer these days, and what used to be a "20 minute" show is now around half an hour. Bearing that in mind... Extraordinary (Disney+). Nearly everyone gets a superpower (albeit a fairly rubbish one) around their 18th except Jen. The first episode literally made me spit out my drink and is the best but the rest are pretty funny too. Probably NSFW stuff in the trailer. Colin from Accounts (iPlayer and Sky). After Ashley flashes Gordon, causing him to hit a dog, the two of them have to look after the pooch together. Funny in a "Sharon Horgan" sort of way. More NSFW stuff in trailer. Star Trek: Lower Decks (Prime Video?). Surprisingly good comedic Trek spin-off. Yonderland (Sky). From the "Horrible Histories" peeps. Utterly mad comedy fantasy with Debbie, The Chosen Mum, saving a land full of mainly idiots. Ghosts UK/US. Speaking of the HH crew... The Baby (Sky). Dark comedy about an evil baby. Bottles it at the end, but if you have ever thought about anti-natalism... Probably NSFW stuff in the trailer. I'm sure there are more, but how could I not include... Galavant (Disney+ and other places everywhere apart from the UK). Great comedy/fantasy/musical with loads of Brit guest stars. Despite only 2 short seasons, it had a great ending. Naughty words and jokes in song.

Not from Paramount's POV, as having the all Trek shows must be one of their biggest draws. That said, they need to get a new one going as the next season of DIS is the final one, which will leave just SNW and LD as "current".

Having just watched the film of "The Treatment" I'd say the first and second "Jack Caffery" books by Mo Hayder: Birdman and The Treatment. Be warned, the crimes portrayed are very strong stuff. I've read the next two books but they didn't grip me the same way, or enough to finish the series.

Those laughs are gonna have to last through the next three eps.

I think you can do it with Powershell but, if it's just one folder, a quick fix would be to get the student to share the folder.

I'd shop around. Depending on your age and other factors you should be able to remortgage somewhere else. Make appointments at a few of the local banks and see what's on offer. It will likely mean a longer stretch to pay off the mortgage and cost more in the long run, but might ease the outgoings in the short term. IANAFinancialAdvisor.

The Treatment/De Behandeling (Disc, but widely available to rent) and Ritual/Ritueel/Ritualmord (Disc, may be streamable in certain European countries) Trailers have language and subject matter NSFW (Yeah, those red armbands are a bit iffy) Based on the second and third books in Mo Hayder's "Jack Caffrey" series, these two Belgian productions were released in 2014 and 2022 but retain the same director and star (though he is bumped to second billing in the sequel) - who looks like Arthur "Rory" Darvill's tougher brother in 2014 but has put on a few pounds and gone greyer by 2022, looking more the way I envisaged the character. An upcoming BBC adaptation of the seventh last book in the series (and the last of the author's novels published in her lifetime) casts Ukweli Roach, who is always the decent/nice guy in the shows I've seen him in so I'm currently struggling to see him in the part. I've read the first four of the books, the first two before publication (I was in bookselling at the time and had proofs) and the others more recently, but still a few years ago, so my memories of them may be a bit off. Anyway, The Treatment has Inspector Nick Cafmeyer called in when a family are found near death. The father and mother have been chained up whilst their young boy has been taken. Nick's own brother was also taken when they were children and the prime suspect, a convicted paedophile, delights in torturing Nick with conflicting horrible stories about what happened to Bjorn. As the case continues, it becomes clear that maybe the two disappearances are connected and that the perpetrator may not be done yet... This is an hugely tense and engrossing film, but not for the faint-hearted as the perpetrator's MO is incredibly sick, in many ways more sick than that in the first book (and there's a very good reason why that one has yet to be filmed). To the best of my memory, it's pretty close to the book apart from the switch to the land of waffles, though I can't remember one of the red herrings (which needed a bit more of an explanation, though maybe I missed a subtitle) nor one of the perp's... foibles. The final shot features a scene that I also don't remember in the book, which makes it even bleaker. Worth catching if you have the stomach for it and this sort of thing is in your wheelhouse but it is very upsetting. Ritual sees Nick in a new location (he moves from London to Bristol in the books) but at times he is almost the secondary character as the film mainly concentrates on "Kiki" a police diver whose discovery of a severed hand starts an investigation into what seems to be ritualistic killings by Africans living on the edges of society. I wasn't as impressed by the book, nor this film. That probably wasn't helped by the subs only being in French or Dutch. I managed to find subs online in French that I got (surprisingly well) auto-translated, BUT I wish I had persevered and tried to get the Dutch subs to translate as the large portions of dialogue in French didn't have subs to be translated! Whilst the main beats of the book are followed, I thought Kiki's car problems were from the next book, and that the perp's motivations were different. Here, there is a lot of examination of Belgium's colonial past and current involvement in its old colonies. Not bad, but doesn't hold a candle to its predecessor. Also Kiki's surrogate dad, especially given his dapper style and very precise beard, kept reminding me of the older guy who now seems to have been dropped as a model from the Joe Browns catalogue - which threw me a bit.

Lightspeed: Wasn't very impressed. Switched to... Mosyle (free): Does what we need and they were a great help with the set up. Seems to be a bit laggy on updating information, but it's free! If we were going "all in" on iPads (I hope not!) I'd consider the paid version. The favourite seems to be JAMF, but I've not tried it.

Finished Season 6 of Black Mirror. Got to say that they should have stuck with the original plan of it being "Red Mirror" as only two of the five (1 & 3) had the show's USP of "technology, twisted". The third ep was pretty bleak and was one of those "But why didn't they?" type eps. Four and five were basically horror eps. I felt four was a bit lacking, but five at least was darkly amusing. Basically, the only one I positively enjoyed was the first, E5 was watchable and E2 OK - not keen on the other two. Was back to Westworld last night (S3). Impressed that they do seem to be progressing the plot rather than the reset that many shows go for, at least so far.

I had a play with mine recently and it would only seem to record stuff delivered via the aerial.

We just use a Powerpoint + Showpoint (our version is when you could just download it https://www.presentationpoint.com/downloads/request-to-download-showpoint/). Doesn't allow for the sophistication you need, though.

Sorry! Meant to reply yesterday. You've probably done the research now but you could convert the physical machine to a virtual one (P2V) and then update the virtual one to whatever OS you want, check if stuff still works and, if it does, use sysprep to prepare the system for use on a new machine.* However, unless you already have Hyper-V set up along with WDS (Windows Distribution System?) or similar and Volume Licensing, it's a lot of setting up and a bit of a learning curve! (But useful in the future). IIRC there are paid solutions that claim to be able to restore to different hardware. I'd also recommend another library solution. My schools use Libresoft, which is much better and cloud-based so will work on pretty much any device. I have had it on a "Kiosk" OS (Porteus) but, for various reasons, have moved to Windows + OpenKiosk for the "Library" machines. Other library systems are available. *We no longer use "images" but just install Windows using WDS and software gets added in automatically later, so this may not be the correct order.
