Another more "<30 minutes" than 20, but I saw the first episode of Still Up on Apple last night and quite enjoyed it. Two insomniac friends, one of whom is agoraphobic help each other through the sleepless nights, so far by phone. Stars Antonia Thomas (Misfits, Sunshine On Leith), Craig Roberts (Submarine) and Blake Harrison (Inbetweeners).

I will reluctantly concede that iPads have great battery life and seem to be better treated by the staff/pupils. But I think you've identified why many have a problem with them in that SMT are a bit like Underpants Gnomes. No thought is given to how things are going to work, whether more kit is needed, training for IT (is there ever thought given to that?), even whether the iPads will do what they think they will do. Heck, my iPad school has never though about storing/charging/booking. On a personal level, I'm also not a fan of the misjudged air of superiority that a lot of Apple owners have, their insistence on using Apple terminology over generic terms, and the way "only iPads or Macs can do X" when it's something pretty much any machine can do (and often has done before it was available on anything Apple).

So the Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and Subjugation of Humanity finally got to the real Ilya Kuryakin (sorry, Armie, your film was U.N.C.L.E. in name only) . I have a collection of some of the "movies" (2-part episodes) and also "The 15 Years Later Affair" on disk. Not to mention a version of the theme on my Spotify list - not the one in this intro. I also remember him as "The Invisible Man" and Alan Breck Stewart in "Kidnapped".

Yep, having iPads was bad enough, let alone spending hundreds on a device to manage them. We just use ASM/Mosyle Free. Not the best solution but the head's favourite price. That said, though I have to fight for any other improvements, they love throwing money at Apple.

Thanks for the clarification! As to the OP, the free version needs more "manual" input than I'd like, but... it's free! Plus the guy who helped with the setup was super helpful. Were using Lightspeed before Mosyle; not impressed. People sing the praises of Jamf, but it's not free.

Maybe we got in before that limit. I'm not going to ask them if they want any money!

Shotgun Wedding (Prime Video) Darcy and Tom are having his dream wedding in Bali, but things move from shaky to scary when pirates take their guests hostage. Can the couple work out their differences and save their families? Action/comedy/romance that feels that could have been much more fun if it had had a tighter script and better director. As it stands, it's merely "OK".

Re Wilderness, like many series I see advertised, I probably would have watched it as a movie or maybe a two/three episode special but 6+ episodes? Too long. Also, who would cheat on Jenna Coleman? Re Ads, they're nearly all at it unless you pay a premium and/or you have to pay a premium for 4k. Seems like a hugely retrograde step to me, but I'm not a corporate bean counter. There's way more stuff that I'd like to see and just don't have the time for so I'd rather have less content (=lower costs) than pay to watch ads. Plus won't it push people to "ad free" sources meaning even less money coming in? Possibly "Not Dead Yet" on Disney. Only one season at present. Not a "must see", but pleasant enough. Have you tried "What We Do In the Shadows" and Wellington Paranormal"?

Almost 3 yr old Ulefone Armor 7e, which will get replaced when it breaks/gets slow or apps stop functioning/aren't compatible. Would be happy to get another from them. Cost £200 as I don't see the point in spending huge amounts on a phone. As annoying as Apple are re standards, I have to say their Lightning connector (a single "tongue" that fits into a receptacle) seems a better design than even USB C, which seems designed to break in the device as it's a receptacle that fits around a thin "tongue" in the device.

I am still struggling to find a way that will allow passwords to be set and fixed en masse. It looks like I should be able to use Azure AD/Entra ID to sync our on premises AD to achieve this, but I'm not sure if this is an extra cost. Anyone know? I can get this far without being asked to upgrade etc. It looks like you need Server 2016 or later for this anyway (don't judge), so we'd need to upgrade the server(s). I'm pretty sure that I can't just use a 2016/19/22 iso to do this as we probably need to pay for an upgraded license - or do we?

The way I read it, Channels is a one-way thing that's a bit like a no-reply bcc'd email. The owner can send out stuff to the list, but all they can do is view it without knowing who else it has been sent to.

I was kinda assuming that channels will work similarly to groups in terms of muting/self-removal. Muting the "christening" group I was recently part of certainly saved my phone from from dissolving in saccharine.

Once Upon A Crime (Netflix) In a land where beauty is prized above all else Red Riding Hood comes across Cinderella and, with the help of a couple of witches, they both head to the ball. On the way, their carriage appears to hit someone, but Red (who has Holmesian powers of deduction) works out that the man was already dead. They cover the body and head to the ball, but when the corpse is discovered and they must try to keep from being accused as the killers while attempting to work out who the real killer is before midnight. Japanese live action adaptation of a manga, this features that overly broad humour of such things and some actors who appear to be graduates of the Rita Repulsa School for the Performing Arts. When it calms down a bit once the murder is revealed it improves somewhat, but I wasn't happy with the reveal of who the murderer was and their motive. At least the "Beauty and the Beast" like subplot didn't end with "the beast" being totally physically transformed. I wasn't impressed and would suggest that if you want revisionist fairy tales, check out Bill Willingham's "Fables" comics or Leigh Bardugo's "The Language of Thorns".

Re the "Spam Overload" potential, it's pretty easy to mute or remove yourself from groups so it might be more "user friendly" to do so if people don't want constant notifications.

I very rarely use text messages* these days, and emails only tend to be to businesses. *Initially because Virgin used to charge extra if you used an emoji (let alone sent a picture) and charged for group texts.

I think it's a non-issue in that WhatsApp is what people use, not because they have weighed up the options, but because it's what everyone else uses. I love RSS, but most people haven't heard of it.

I don't have a Facebook account (a departed cat set one up for a couple of looks on MarketPlace) for many reasons but I do use WhatsApp. I'd be happier with Signal but it both lacks penetration and (maybe it's better now?) never seemed reliable for the couple of months I was testing it. Not everyone has drunk the Apple Kool-Aid.
