Ek Tha Tiger (Prime Video) India's top spy, Tiger, is sent to keep an eye on a professor based in Ireland who may be passing on secrets to those nasty Pakistanis. He doesn't count on falling in love with the professor's beautiful housekeeper. After watching and enjoying Pathaan last week, we thought we'd start at the beginning of the "YRF Spy Universe". This one was set up as a series for Salman Khan's "Tiger" that was later retrofitted into the universe. Not a great movie unless you're an older guy who wants to dream that Dad Bod, Dad Dancing and lack of social skills are no obstacle to a much younger woman who is a gorgeous as Katrina Kaif falling for you. From the trailers for Tiger Zindi Hai (Tiger 2), War and the upcoming Tiger 3 this seems very much like the original "Fast" movie for people who aren't obsessed with driving fastly and furiously: The starting point that may be worth catching up on if you became a fan later in the game of something that evolved into a much more fun series . Watching out of order will involve spoilers, though. Though if you ever wanted to see a Bollywood number set in Ireland, this movie has you covered. We will be giving both Tiger 2 and War a go, as well as Tiger 3 (due Diwali).

Finished ONE PIECE on Netflix, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not entirely sure why as I'm fairly sure that I'd find Monkey D. Luffy pretty annoying IRL and the world was a weird 18th century but with neon lights mix. Lots of fun - bring on Season 2!

The Flash (2023) (£5 rental most places) Distraught over reliving his mother's death and his father's likely continued (false) imprisonment for her murder, The Flash runs so fast that he discovers he can travel back in time, which means he could save his mum. But time travel works a bit differently in the (late) DCEU and things go very wrong. I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. There were some oddities, like Ezra Miller seemed to be playing Barry Allen as autistic in the early scenes and how Aquaman 2 will now fit in to the universe but it was generally quite fun with some nice cameos (some CG/AI) from past DC stars. It wasn't so good that I wished I'd seen it theatrically, though.

If you can't do it in DHCP, you can probably do it via your wireless console. You definitely can with Unifi.

I worry that the staff at this site never listen to the lyrics of the hits they play for the kids, but at least they wouldn't do this!

Just finished Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. It's a Grishaverse novel set in the same world as "Shadow and Bone" but pretty separate. The TV show melds the main trilogy with this duology and makes a few changes. As of the end of Season 2 the show has covered some of the start of this book. This novel sees The Crows, a criminal gang in Ketterdam (think a magic-infused 18th Century Rotterdam) hired to extract a scientist from an impenetrable fortress. I'm hoping that the heist in S2 wasn't their equivalent of this, as the heist in this book is much bigger in scope. Though given the lacklustre "battle" at the end of the season, maybe they shouldn't attempt the heist. Well worth a read if you like a bit of light fantasy. Although marketed as YA, and most of the characters are stated to be younger than their show counterparts, it never feels like a YA novel. I was given the fancy "Collectors Edition" at Christmas and have only just got around to it. I put it down and ordered the matching second part.

Finished National Treasure: Edge of History. Tolerably entertaining, but pretty disposable and too teen-orientated for my liking.

Seems a more reasonable price for likely usage - ordered one!

Well, I went for the Ryobi in the end, and fairly pleased. I do, of course, have a couple of more questions! It's fine with drilling and screwing in, but not so hot at unscrewing. This has been on screws that have been in decades, though. I have ended up using a manual driver to loosen and then my "normal" powered driver to finish. Is there a speed/torque setting that is best for such jobs? Also considering a reciprocating saw. Has anyone used https://www.cbspowertools.com/ ? Their prices seem too good to be true.

This was a timely reminder for me too. My "media" disk has done a few unexpected self-checks of late and , while it shows as fine in Crystal, I thought I'd better replace it. This turned out to be quite a job as (from Macrium's help) some external caddies can be problematical. Never had a problem with mine, but this is probably the first 4TB disk that I've used it with. Had all sorts of problems getting it to be recognised, but it's finally in and working well. Macrium did a reasonably fast job of the clone, too.

The Creator (Cinema) These days, I often see trailers and think "I'd watch that as a 2 hour film, but I'm not prepared to spend 6-10 hours on it". This was the opposite, not because it was the greatest thing ever, but because the world building felt like we didn't get enough time to see how things ended up that way. I suspect a lot of it was because it made for a cool visual, though. Anyway, it's a visually stunning film that's worth a look. Surprised it's doing OK at the box office, especially in the US, as it's pretty critical of their foreign policy (in case you didn't guess from the "Vietnam War" imagery). I just wish we'd had explanations as to why the "simulants" had holes in their heads, or required human models, and why Nomad used a visible-for-miles laser to guide missiles in or sometimes just for the hell of it during a stealth mission (and many more such nitpicks). Oh, and remember that this is from the director of "Rogue One". Pathaan (Prime Video) When a terrorist group looks set to strike at India, only super-agent Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) can stop them. OTT action movie that is fun if you can embrace the sheer ridiculousness of it all. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it (though I had to watch it in two sessions as I demolished our rotting shed on Saturday and just could not stay awake which probably didn't help). Those worried about musical numbers should be OK as there are only two: One that is more like a music promo with Deepika Padukone's introduction and a more traditional one that plays over the end credits. This is actually the fourth in the "YRF Spy Universe" - think Indian spy MCU minus the super-powers but with songs - and has a cameo from the other Khan (Salman) who stars in the first two instalments. The other entries are all on Prime, and I'll probably give them a go. If you only see one Shah Rukh Khan movie this year I'd make it "Jawan", but this one is fun too.

Was supposed to be seeing "Creator" last night as well, but was feeling a bit rough so our "date night" movie was... Love is in the Air (Netflix) The heir to a British investment capital firm sees a way to impress his dad by identifying a small Australian outfit that is ripe for asset stripping. He doesn't count on being sent to do the job, or falling for the owner's daughter who is the firm's pilot. Joshua "Galavant" Sasse adds another Aussie pop princess to his collection, this time in the leggy shape of Delta Goodrem and her fake eyelashes. (Can't believe they didn't work a karaoke scene in). Unless you want to marvel at the lovely scenery presented (they even make London look good) not really worth your time, but not the worst romcom I've ever seen either.

I've never used it to drain power, but HeavyLoad may help. (Use the "portable" version).

Might give them a go next time we have some. The lot we used to use suddenly got useless and the ones we tried next were so-so. We tried the same lot as @localzuk but they weren't interested.
