Therein lies the rub. Access to the firewall is mainly via the LA, who have unblocked a lot of things. It was working over Easter, and they haven't made any changes. It's been kicked up a level, so I'm waiting for a callback.

Not that as the first pad I looked at needed an update, but installed the app via my phone. The second iPad wouldn't install the app, even after an upgrade to 16.5, unless I used by phone. It was happy to UNinstall apps via the school's connection, though!

His day gets worse when he is told that he will have to transport a murderer and his transportation officer. Worse still when the storm blows the plane's electrics and even worse again when the road he lands on turns out to be on an island controlled by a murderous militia. Looks like he picked a bad day to stop smoking! As unoriginal as its title, but a passable action flick. Glad I didn't pay for it, though!

Finally moved all our iPads over to Mosyle, and things have been fairly calm. A few niggles, like most of them showing as "Location not enabled" when I know I enabled it on all of them and the update/app update status rarely seeming to be accurate, but they were working fine... Until it was time to install a new app. Has anyone had problems recently? It works fine via my phone, but not with the school's Wi-Fi/filter even though they all picked up and installed apps a few weeks ago. I can uninstall without any problem, just not install. Anyone aware of any changes that have happened recently? I get "The iOS is responding 'rejected: not supported'"

That article reminded me of another of my pet hates on Smart Motorways: The way people ignore the "lane closed" notice. The sort of people whose favoured lane is #4 will often be seen speeding up lane 1 as it's empty because everyone else is following the signage.

I find that frustrating, especially when you decide that you'll overtake as they're mainly doing a few mph below the limit and it wakes them up and they decide to speed up while you're trying to pass.

One of my schools is off a stretch of road that has those "either side of the road" square "humps" with the limit going down to 20mph near the shops/school. The vast majority of drivers just steam up the gap between the humps (unless there is oncoming traffic) at 40mph.

Wow! Jeremy Clarkson's head must be exploding. I can see pre-limiter "fast" car prices holding their value for a few years...

As a "YOU ARE OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. PLEASE SLOW DOWN" warning would be simple to implement with existing tech, but be seen as an invasion of privacy/threat to many driver's self esteem, I wouldn't hold your breath!

Thanks for the clarifications, folks. Just to make my position clear: I would like to drive at the speed limit where it is safe to do so, but this stretch seems to be ignored by most drivers. It's particularly frustrating on my way to work as you would have to fight your way out to lane 3 or 4 to get past people driving at 60 in lanes 1 and 2, and then get back to lane 1 unless you want someone trying to kiss your rear bumper for you having the temerity to slow down to the displayed speed limit. I normally just stay in lane 1 as it's less stressful, even though it's slower.

Good point. You'd think they'd sync the overheads, though. It's a couple of minutes*, if that, work. *I assume.

If you just want to disable, you could use logon hours.

There is a stretch on a local motorway where work has been ongoing for a while and it has metal temporary speed limit start/end signs. However, the overhead signage never seems to back this up. The site manager claims this is because the overheads only kick in when work is actually in progress (normally overnight) and it is permitted to ignore the temporary signs, but I can't find anything to confirm this. Anyone got a reliable source? Also, why do so many people drive well under the speed limit in lanes 2 and 3 when it is both safe to drive at the speed limit and the lanes to the left are clear? This wasn't so noticeable when it was a three-lane motorway!

Sounds like either a sitcom or a documentary, but is actually a high-school superhero/fantasy show with Michelle Yeoh.

Mme LeMarchand was looking after her aunt this weekend, so I watched all four currently available episodes. Found it a really good watch. Not read the books, but suspect they're jumbling them together, much like "Shadow & Bone", to maintain better cast continuity. I'm hoping that we do get an explanation of what's going on (and that there's a reason for the "retro" décor of the place) and that we don't get a "saggy bit in the middle". Most of all, I hope it doesn't end on a big cliffhanger. Very promising so far.

If anyone who wants to watch this has yet to do so, do it sooner rather than later as it looks like Disney have both cancelled the show and will be pulling it to avoid paying residuals. My opinion on the show was: P.S. While moves like this make short-term financial sense, surely people who want to keep their favourite shows will turn to "other" sources? If people start doing that then they'll know how to do such things on release, and be less likely to subscribe to a service and it will be a bit of a downward spiral.

Crater (Disney+) In 2257 the moon is a mining base that provides fuel for the 75 year journey to Omega, where humanity is migrating to. When his father is killed in a mining accident it means Caleb automatically qualifies for transport to Omega, but he promised his father that he would visit a particular crater on the surface. Together with four friends, he sets off on an adventure that will change all their lives. It's "Stand By Me" meets "The Goonies" on the moon with a surprisingly political edge. Skews a bit young for the undertones, but older viewers may be nitpicking about some of the physics. The ending isn't quite what you'd expect, and probably not what younger ones would want. Not bad, but not a "must see".

It's still very popular at my Junior School. though I doubt that's who the movie is aimed at!
