I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed so far given what MS have announced today. Hopefully they're holding back on some of the more exciting features.

I've been keeping an eye of the info regarding this as I'm tempted to upgrade from my current GTX 470. The initial rumours suggest that the GTX780 will be a cut-down TITAN and the GTX770 will be a tarted up GTX 680. The fly in the ointment is that with the GTX780 being based on the £900 TITAN card I suspect Nvidia will likely price it a good deal higher than their existing GTX680 which retails for around £350-400. Hmm, Intel's new Haswell CPU's are out in June so I'm thinking a whole system upgrade could be on the cards this year. Better get saving

Does it let you add a list of printers for each workstation using the GPO policy or just the one default printer?

Personally given the issues I've experienced with IE10 on Windows8 at home I'd steer clear of it for now. It doesn't really have any stand-out features beyond what IE9 offers and seems to break a lot of websites in my experience.

Just finished the PC version. As everyone else has said it's definitely worth playing and the plot, script, artwork and production values are awesome. There was something about the combat itself that wasn't as satisfying as it could be IMO but in overall it's really good.

When I think back to how much I spent on the first 2x CD Reader drive I bought in the nineties everything else seems cheap in comparison I've never actually got round to upgrading the DVD drive in my PC to a Blu-Ray model though when I build a new desktop it'll definitely be on the shopping list.

+1 TBH. If you want a tablet buy an iPad as there's nothing else out there just now. This might change but everything I've seen running Windows8 Pro so far has been rubbish and seriously overpriced. We bought a couple of Samsung Ativ Smart tablets (Windows 8 PRo/atom)and the build quality on them is terrible. The docking connector doesnt even fit properly and it loses the connection when you touch the screen whilst typing! Atom CPU, 2Gb RAM, 64Gb storage and 32-bit Windows. Can't believe they're charging £750 for them! Unless you need Windows and tablet functionality combined on one device it would probably be better and cheaper to buy an iPad and a £300-400 laptop!

I'm slightly concerned that someone has gone to the effort of thinking that through but I'd agree that it definitely sounds like the best order to watch them in!

I've been playing this for about 10 hours and I'm quite enjoying it. In some ways the gameplay's a bit derivative what with it being based on a 3 year old RTS and the plot twists are blindingly obvious but it's got the usual level of Blizzard polish, balance and production. Will have to give the multiplayer another go with the new units. Has anyone else been playing it? What's your thoughts?

It's interesting to hear youre comments regarding adding printers using GPP. We've been experiencing exactly the same problem you've described where sometimes printers simply aren't added which is causing our users a lot of frustration as they cant rely on the default printer being the correct one. It's a shame GPP don't seem to work reliably for printers as it's much neater than having to fall back to custom scripts. Seems like a very archaic approach for something that you'd think MS would have cracked by now but I guess if it works then don't knock it! @Brpilot99 : We might also need to have a play with the built in Print Manager as this seemed more sucessful than GPP but not quite as flexible as we'd like.

I'd personally be too afraid to contemlate deploying it on a network just now. I've found so many pages on Windows8/IE10 that still dont display properly on my home computer. Definitely getting blocked for the moment on WSUS.

I suppose strictly speaking these "negative" interest rates would only be on offer to banks who borrow from the BOE. I guess the idea would be to prevent banks hoarding currency and theoretically encouraging them to lend out more. Savings accounts would presumably still pay you a positive interest rate as this is typically a couple of percent higher than the base rate so I doubt it would lead to a bank run though it would probably encourage people to spend rather than hold cash. It does sound like a slightly crazy idea though! Of course you could already argue if a savings account is only paying you 1-2% and 'official/rigged' rate of inflation is 3% then holding money in a savings account is effectively costing you money.

We already have plenty of laptop style Android devices which are cheap and have access to a huge number of installable apps . Why would anyone want a £1000 laptop with an OS less flexible than the one in their phone? Quoted battery life is also a paltry 5 hours which is miserly for a stripped down cloud based laptop. I can see why you might want to spend a grand on the MacBook or a Surface Pro but Google must be crazy to think anyone will spend that kind of money on a Chromebook? I just don't get why Google keep persisting with ChromeOS

I used to have that same case actually. Personally I wasn't a fan of it. I found the that airflow was pretty poor and it got really hot inside. It also lacked internal space for working on it. Currently using a Coolermaster HAF 922 which I would recommend.

I noticed in another thread Microsoft Forefront TMG is now being retired. They haven't commented on UAG yet but the fact that it's taken over 6 months after release for MS to get round to making Windows 8 work with it makes me suspect it's probably not long for this world either.

Granted the performance of the Core i5 is well beyond what low powered ARM and Atom based CPU's can muster but I personally only use a laptop/tablet as a portable device for carrying around. It would never replace my desktop as my primary computer so I'd happily trade performance for improved battery life and less weight.

Thanks for the info. I've never tried using Google Docs or Office365 before though it's on my to-do list!

We're looking at the options here and trying to decide how much space to allocate pupils/staff next term plus whether there's any merit in giving them both local and cloud storage. Which clould provider did you use if you don't mind me asking?

As expected I'm disapointed with the 4 hours battery life which is enough to put me off it. It's a shame as I really liked the form factor/design of the SurfaceRT and would have been tempted by it with a more power efficient x86 CPU under the hood. Hopefully later in the year when MS refresh the line we'll see a haswell based Surface pro with a better battery life. Or possibly a Tegra4 based RT model with a larger store/app selection.

We're using Zendesk. £20 for an annual sub for up to 3 support staff. Honestly, given the ready made off the shelf options out there avaiable for free or next to nothing it just doesn't make sense to re-invent the wheel IMO by doing something in house.
