I did notice my fuel gauge moving fast cruising around 140mph on the M6 Toll last week My engine must be a prostitute, it sucks like one. 2.0i Turbo petrol guzzles round town, i get 250-300 miles off £80

Robocopy "C:\" "D:\BackupFolder" /MIR should do it, but add your timeouts to it.

Why not create a few small VBS Scripts? Then create a small Visual basic program linking to those scripts. So you could have a Science button, and when clicked would call the following script. Set WshNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network") WshNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection "\\server\ScienceMono" WshNetwork.AddWindowsPrinterConnection "\\server\ScienceColour" WshNetwork.SetDefaultPrinter "\\Server\ScienceMono"

Is the demo on the Capita website the old or the new webparts? I hope its the old ones because slow is not the word! No way would we buy somthing that poor.

Anybody else finding it harder and harder to get laptops that come with either XP or have XP Drivers on the website for them? I'm currently looking around, and saw those Dell Inspiron's that come in different colours. Great i thought, 1 colour for 1 laptop trolley, another colour for another one etc so they can be quickly see which trolley they belong in. Comes with Vista. No problem i thought, just do the usual, format, install XP so i checked the dell site first, and no XP Drivers for that model so contact Dell, tell them i'm interested in these, but i need XP support, reply is a big fat NO, cannot be bought with XP, will not provide XP Drivers. Quite like the HP 530's, got a few as staff laptops. Again come with Vista but we just format and install XP, but they are not suitable for in a laptop trolley as the soundcards in them do not agree with Dance Ejay and thats with every driver i can find. So anybody got any recommendations for some laptops that the maker has XP drivers available for ? Also a larger capacity battery would be good!

Please, NO NO NO more SIMS updates EVER. They cause chaos, staff hate them and i get the abuse when PARS takes longer to load to do a register because a SIMS update has to be done first. Evil Evil Software.

Thanks, that has cured it!

By Pre-Logon i mean being able to logon to a domain, have Wireless connected at the logon screen. Its just WEP here (have a lot of very early Intergrated Wireless cards here, that do not support TKIP, WPA etc, just WEP, as i found out when i tried to set it up using 4 years ago using RADIUS). Infact its these same bastard cards that will not pre logon with wireless

If you are thinking of PARS i will say you cannot fault there tech support. Best i've ever used of any product. They are in the UK, never have to wait to talk to somebody, and very helpful, and quick with the patchs if there is a problem.

Found it now Its here with a 31 day full trial for those who are interested in it VisiWave Wireless LAN Site Survey Tool
-
Yep, as it shows you the different strenghs of signals. Just like the mobile phone coverage maps. This is annoying, i've googled and googled, can i find it
-
I cannot remember the name of the software, but i've used the trial once before and maybe somebody knows what its called. You import a map of your school, then you walk around the school or site clicking where you are on the map, and it takes a wireless survey, you do this all over and it gives you this coverage map. Any ideas what it was ?

We have some old X Staff laptops, Acer Travelmate 250's, about 4.5 years old with AMBIT Mini PCI Wireless cards in them. Nothing wrong with them except batterys are dead really, so i thought i'd try and get them working as a odd few laptops for students, but they need to be plugged in when used, which is feasable. Problem is they will not initialise the wireless card pre logon! We've got 100's of laptops on trollys, but these will not work in the same way for some reason. I've got the "Always wait for network at startup" selected, and i'm using the Wireless Zero Configuration Service. Its only when you logon do you see it try and grab an IP Address. What can i do?

Do you have a link to this game. Might add it to the games available to the kids.

Computers are multitasking devices. So they are there for games too. We have games on all our PC's and run Games Clubs during dinner to give them somthing to do. Overkill is not the word, those people need the sack, they are so out of touch its unreal!

That one makes me laugh, "It makes me smile when I hear of IT innovation being stifled in schools. Just talk to the countless teachers who have had their ideas rejected because of endless firewall issues, security risks or apparent incompatibilities" This person will be in for a shock in a BSF School.

That looks a lot better than Netop School 3.0 which we currently use. How much does it cost?

Here is the batch file i have a computer startup script, set in the OU Group Policy for those computers. NET USE L: \\mydomain.local\netlogon /persistent:no L:\delprof.exe /q L:\Scripts\robocopy.exe "L:\Desktops\music" "c:\documents and settings\Default User" /MIR net use /delete * /y So it maps the drive to my netlogon on my domain controllers (good place as its load balanced) then it runs delprof to delete all profiles on the pc then it syncs the profile i want with the local one then it disconnects the L:\ drive You'll need to download robocopy and delprof So for me my folder structure is L:\delprof.exe L:\robocopy.exe L:\Desktops\Music\ L:\Desktops\Art\ L:\Desktops\Room6\ etc

You would have to change the way you do Mandatory Profiles. Here we have a startup script the copys from a network location the profile to C:\Documents and Settings\Default User , so when a student logs on the profile is copied from there. Different locations can have different settings, looks and feel. Plus is a lot faster performance wise when students logon, since its all off the local disk not the network.

Ours do all that build walls, put benching in, move doors, and the electrics as well ,change consumer units, new sockets. We do the network cabling.

Help! Can't disconnect standalone laptop from a network share.
Quackers replied to Andie's topic in Wireless Networks
click start, run, the type without quotes 'control userpasswords2' then click on the Advanced Tab, then Manage Passwords. Delete the one for that network location if its listed. -
Black trousers, shirt, tie. i've been mistaken for a student a few times. I've still got my tie on now and i've been home 4 hours almost, feel most comfortable in a suit/shirt tie outfit.
