We've never had issues with it randomly closing, the only issue we get it at first login it doesnt always run the papercut client - same with printers, sometimes they don't map, and a log off and back resolves is. Happens on 2 networks i manage so know it's a bug somewhere!

I'm about to connect our second site back to to the same leased line provider as main site. Once that has been done i'll have ACL's lifted on the provider's firewalls so i have ip site-to-site access. Initially i'll be creating a forest trust and a shared network drive for sharing resources across the trust, but will allow for all sorts of internal communications without traversing the internet.

Today i've gone to add another APP to our remoteapp server, and found that I got an error . I have screenshot below the error message in server manager, the error when trying to start the remote desktop management service, and the event log error. Do you use WDS along with MDT? I've had a brief look at this online.

What does everyone use/do for computer repairs/imaging these days? I typically clean install windows 10 and common software i.e office etc and then make an image using Acronis for each motherboard type as includes all the drivers for each model otherwise restoring the image can result in BSOD if restored to different hardware. This way is quick an easy - i can reimage a machine and get on the network again in 15 minutes. However with the now windows 10 build updates, i'm looking for an alternative way to update base images for when machines crash or need reimaging: Looking to: - Build a base windows 10 image on a VM - Install base software i.e office, adobe suite, etc. - Make a copy of the image that can be restored to any hardware and incorporate any necessary drivers required for each board. I always do clean install of windows and sql then do sims migration server to server.

I used to set a scheduled batch file to shutdown the machines one by one. I now have a GPO assigned to all clients with a scheduled task so they all shut down at the same time every night and it's free.

As far as I'm aware when using remote apps it uses all associations on the sever so if you have office installed on the server and set the defaults for xml as office handler it should open remote word for all users. I've never had any users complain they cannot open the files remotely by having this setup.

Windows 10 will just be called windows generically on future devices. there are no plans for 11 12 13 etc. it will just be updated builds.

Free alternative - create GPO's with scheduled tasks in for each time. Assign GPOs to computer root and use item- level targeting to target groups of computers either by adding computers to a group or adding PC names and then relevant task will created on the pcs.

Same problem here - after an upgrade i was changing timezones to open gates, this would be ok, but then when i removed the settings, gates would still open! Paxton told me it is always best to do a reinstate after any changes even if the server and controller are always online! I think they should built it into the save process that it auto pushes the settings to the controller after a change, shouldnt need to reinstate!

We had to open youtube for all to access 'educational resources' however as always the use gets abused by students watching gaming videos, etc. restricted mode is enabled and our filtering has CAC (Cloud Application Control) so we can see reports of search words used in youtube, google etc and what videos's they've watched, posted comments etc.

Why so huge? Have you ran a foldersize to see what it is in the profile. Use folder redirection. I'm surprised the user doesnt complain its slow to login.

I've been running my own personal email server from home to manage my emails for the last 16 years. Never had any issues with receiving SPAM crud to my email address claiming account been hacked etc. I moved to office 365 about 6 months ago and i'm getting emails claiming 'your account has been hacked', Important - i have recorded you' etc. if you want me to delete these files then pay me in litecoin. Just goes to show how unsafe 365 is, and seems that most companies getting hit with viruses are on 365 also. Glad we're still on exchange locally.

Every desktop and server always gets a clean install at upgrades. I always warn staff that anything they've saved to the local disk will be wiped, so don't take responsibility for anything which is lost. Staff can save to the desktop, but i carry out checks now and again to see how big profiles are and if need be advise staff to remove any files.

Indeed. when we went 10gb HP wouldn't come in and advise on kit and setup. Dlink came in drew it all out with devices required and had 2 case studies done over the years. Also when I report firmware bugs I get Taiwan remoting on determining the issue and then they give me a custom fixed firmware before it's released to public! can't fault their service.

I've always used the dlink loopback detection and been flawless. all.switch ports are monitored as soon as a look back occurs it disables the 2 ports sends the switch and port details to systlog server and emails me the details. rechecks every 10 seconds and if look back cleared enabled ports of not they remain disabled until it clears.

sorry 2006 for definite. it was our first phase 10gb install with core switch and 10gb to IT rooms.
