For testing I have upgraded 2 computers from 1803 to 1090 through windows update. Computer specs are i7, SSD and 8gb ram. On both performance is sluggish and computer seems a lot slower when opening programs etc. I'm yet to do a clean install on a computer to see how that performs but for now I will be delaying the upgrade as some pcs are of lower spec. Has anyone else experienced this?

we are on empsn there is zero cost to us for the connection for 100mb line. another school in our trust are on 200mb and connection gets partly funded so cost is about £500 per year for the connection.

whats the reason for wanting to move away from swgfl. do you not get your connection at a reduced price with the LEA? we are on the JANET network and top slice get discounted on our price and not found anyone who can beat it.

It's a Dell MD3220i with 2 arrays split 50/50 on total capacity.

Does anyone know if it's supported or possible to have a SAN split into 2 arrays so that one array is linked to a windows server and the other half esxi? each array has 2 paths to it. I want to migrate from ESXi to hyper-v re-using the hardware so plan would be to move all vms to 1 esxi host and one data array, crash the server install windows and iscsi target it to the array, move servers from esxi to hyper-v and do the same with the other host. Otherwise, any other suggestions on how to do this?

Do you get them to type that in when they want to access with BYOD? do you give them a leaflet/guide on connecting? I inherited the site with lightspeed so don't know how old their system is. Is your rocket not inline between LAN and router but in proxy mode?

the only issue we do have is once the use has authenticated they don't always get the captive portal page because they have to go to a non https site for it to then come up so going to google.com won't always redirect them I'm trying to get Relay setup to see if this is an alternative solution and works better for BYOD on a separate VLAN as the bottlerocket doesnt support this (or at least the model we have)

Which lightspeed have you got - the bottle rocket on site? I wanted to set it up on a guest vlan for BYOD but it doesn't support it, so currently i have a security group i add users to, clients connect to the SSID which then authenticates the user through RADIUS , they get an IP and then get the captive portal login page. Set this up without lightspeed support and not seen that issue.

Are the 2 networks on different subnets/ip ranges?

I'd be interested in what the best tools are for moving from esxi to hyperv. I've got a site which is on esxi 5.5 don't want to update it anymore but want to move the VMs over to another server which is hyperv then re-build the servers as hyper-v hosts and then move then vm's back

Put it this way, a tenancy i manage , a user contacted me to say i've got a load of un-deliverable emails in my inbox - i went into the users sent items and it listed all the emails that were being sent on office 365. has a user ever told me this on exchange no. i don't yet know of anyone on exchange that has been hit by a virus which mails all users ? all schools i know which have been attacked or had ransomware through email links have been on o365. what do you do if your 365 gets infected and have no backups? cost of backups then comes in. 365 is not a backup solution.

are you enforcing retention policies to delete emails on your users? did you see Teams went down this week - microsoft forgot to renewal an SSL certificate! says it all really, reliant upon external companies running your infrastructure. things like that don't happen internally.

No, i'm not using MFA only time our email has been down is in the first 2 years i started when our email server and services were outsourced, the raid failed and the company lost all the data. since i started and took it all on in-house i still have emails from 2006 so i have history of communications when people say do you remember when.. exchange is robust because unlike MS its not being tinkered with all the time with changes being made.
