forgot to say they arrived safe and sound on thursday. Not got them fired up yet, I was expecting to need C19 plugs for the PSU's but as they are 1000w they use 13A inlets, but for some reason cisco decided to use C15 Hot plugs rather than C13's I could not find a single Hot IEC lead so have orderd up some remakeable ends on ebay. Where my office is, and the server room next to it. Would have been 3ft Deep in water in the old building when we were flooded. This morning I looked at a pile of 88 monitors that were delivered last night ( not that we knew about it until twenty to nine ). I looked at them again after we had hauled them across the building and 2 floors up to the only available storage location. We have 30 boxes of HP thin terminals blocking our tiny office! We can't see anything out of our office as we have no window. Rob

Can you run a steady ping on it, and then spot if that drops out and see if there are any warnings from the switches.. Enabling syslog and having a syslog server may also help. Rob

you could do a physical binary search you need to break the network down, connect 50% if the problem is not there try the other 50% , then break down the 50% with the issue, and 50% again... It sounds difficult but its not. Rob

Well I had to ring orange tonight to cancel the sim on the wifes lost/stolen S3 Mini... Took about 6 minuets to get answered and it was handled ok. £3.5 for a replacement sim though Hope the phone turns up as it's 18 months to the next free upgrade.. Rob

it's been crap for nearly a year. We get no voice/data in our office unless forcing to 2G ( i can do that but colleague can't) .. we just get voice by puttin up wall mounts for phones. My m8 on Three ( use Orange infrastructure aparantly ) relied on 3G for home broadband and it went down the pan at 4G, so he had to switch.

The only time i speak to them is to try and get back into my online account. I have online account with no paper bill. I never use it as I don't need to. When I use it to check for upgrades I find my account is restricted. I need my accoun tnumber from my bill to unrestrict it. My bill is online. My account is online and restricted... Go Figure!!! 3G here has been poor since 4G, same everywhere.. Considering leaving after 12 years if I can't get a 4G free at upgrade. Rob

I steer clear and stick with catalyst units, even second hand ones are better than most other stuff. Cisco sold Linksys to Belkin a few months back so if they are rebaged then expect the range to be poorly supported by cisco. Rob

It will learn a new address almost instantly, but that requires a broadcast. As every clinet sends a request any destination not in the ARP table will cause a broadcast. As this continues the switch will get bogged down sending, reciving and processsing arp entries and will grind to a halt very quickly. It's CPU will spend time on constant persistance ARP work and not data transfer.

Yep that's going to cause issues. Let the DC lookup domains that are outside the organisation, just have the DC's as your DNS servers for the clients. Rob

Why? Stick with a good L3 Switch, as effectivly it is a router with multiple ports. Unlike a router which ususaly has limited port capacity which can become a problem. Rob

The most likly thing is that the FAT has been wiped or is corrupt. I use photorec on linux to scan and restore the files.

or buy 30 spare PSU's or image on battery. Rob
