  1. We've just started rolling out Microsoft Small Basic and we have an small issue that if you try and run your code after opening the program is crashes and stops working. If you save the program first and then run it, it works OK. The reason it does this is because when you havent saved your program it compiles the .exe that runs in the temp folder. We have implemented a Group Policy that prevents .exe files from running in certain temp folders (as per other threads on here) to prevent Ransomware from running! Is there a way of telling Microsoft Small Basic to use a different Temp folder location - I dont want to change the system wide temp folder as that would defeat the whole issue of trying to block Ransonware! I've searched through the Registry and cant see anything specific to Microsoft Small Basic and what Temp Folder it uses so I wondered if there was an entry that could be added to force MSB to use a different folder as it's temp folder? I've also noticed a file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Small Basic folder called SB.exe.config but it doesnt have anything in it so not sure if an entry of some sort can go in there to force it to use a different Temp Folder? Any ideas/suggestions appreciated!
  2. It works very well for us and with the very latest version of SCCM it installs a lot quicker than before. I put a couple of things in the Task Sequence that keep changing versions such as Impero so the latest version we've added to SCCM gets installed as part of the task sequence along with some Task Sequences having specific software for just that computer suite it's being installed in to.
  3. We have a 'Golden Image' where I have basically created a new VM on my PC, installed the OS (8.1u1 or 10) and then installed all the 'Standard Software' that is found on both Staff and Student computers from Office to 7-Zip etc. Once everything is installed I let SCCM do it's stuff by running the Manual Capture (I don't bother using a Task Sequence as I couldn't get that to work straight away and the Manual Capture just works). Once the captured Image has been added to SCCM you can then create a Task Sequence so you can use PXE boot to deploy it.
  4. You need to scan the computer the user uses for Malware/Ransomware as it could be that the infected machine has done something to the files but not tried to transmit/distribute itself on to the memory stick.
  5. I said that too them and they genuinely thought that if BT used them then they must be great! They were then updated to what BT are really like!!!
  6. We have a 'free' printer from them that is basically an A3 MFD. We got them to disable the scanner so they cant use it as a photocopier and our DT department have been fine with it. The only catch is the contract you sign with them is that the printer is free (and so is support and maintenance on the devices) as long as you only purchase the genuine toners from LaserLife themselves.
  7. They're not resistors - they're cable joiners! Looks like they cut the cables a bit too short and instead of starting again they got a scrap bit of wire and joined them together! The only time I've seen these was when we had a an issue with a wireless link we've got and instead of doing what I asked and run a whole new cable, our cablers run half a new cable and used this things to splice it to an old one! Needless to say it caused issues with the link and had to be replaced and when I queried it with them (and told them off) they said that BT use them so didnt see the problem!
  8. When I've had this problem I found that if I logged on as a different user it worked and then when I logged back on as the original user after doing all the updates it then worked! All the other 'fixes' didnt work for us, this was the only way I could get them to work.
  9. We've got ours set at 19 degrees. It depends on how many server racks you've got as in the 'olden day' everyone just concentrated on chilling the room whereas large server rooms with a few racks have cold spots and hotspots as air flow is just as important as temperature and by having hot and cold spots you cause the air to move around and moving air is cooler than air that is sitting still.
  10. Only once the SIMS Administrator says everything has worked OK!
  11. Same server! I always check the backups are working too, just in case! I also check that the last test restore for our SIMS server worked as well!
  12. Works OK for me in Edge, Internet Explorer and Chrome.
  13. Windows Updates? No. SIMS Updates? OH YES! For Windows Updates I just do them as we'd soon run out of storage space if I checkpointed/snapshoted them all - if updating SCCM, SIMS or something like that then that's the only time I take a snapshot/checkpoint.
  14. The first 2 words in your text are the same as what I'm typing and it's that, that it's failing on. Syntax Error: Unknown field 'date'
  15. I'm trying to establish if an email was sent from a students email address via OWA on Exchange 2010 - either internally or externally. I know the IP address of logons are stored in the IIS logs so I need some help in extracting the information I need in to a CSV file please! I've gotten the W3SVC1 logs from exchange. I have downloaded, installed and used LogParser to merge all the log files in to a single log file called merge.log but none of the commands I can find to extract the information I need work! LogParser "SELECT date, time, c-ip, cs-uri-stem, cs(User-Agent) FROM c:\w3svc1\mergedlog\merge.log TO Output.csv WHERE cs-uri-stem LIKE '%Username%'" When I run this command it just says Syntax Error: unknown field type 'date' Anybody successfully done this - if so what command did you use?
  16. They've always struggled with emails - which for a telecoms company is a bit strange. From personal experiences, if you ring up for a website to be unblocked this gets treated as a higher priority than a high or critical priority that has been logged in writing (with screenshots) as an email as the easier jobs get done first and it feels like they sit on the harder ones (or maybe not enough 2nd or 3rd line people to deal with them, no idea.
  17. If it was me I would find some specialist printer companies and ask for 2 things: 1) What would they recommend to do the job and 2) Can you have a loan one to try out? Then ask the department if they like it or not and go from there.
  18. Just updating to 5.4.38 now to see if it will fix our issue that Impero themselves do not know what's causing it! Clutching at straws and counting down 10 months until the contract is up and then I'll never have to deal with this software again! Incidents get closed with no resolution and if you make a complaint you get ignored and they don't care about losing customers which is just gobsmacking! I'll let you know if we get any different issues like we have done with all the recent upgrades (one problem fixed and another one created)! There's more bugs in this than in I'm A Celebrity!
  19. Anybody seen our missing bandwidth?? Most of it's been nicked as we have bugger all again for most of the morning.

    HP spares

We get some of our HP Printer spares from Athema. They're refurbished so not as expensive as brand new and if it's an older printer you might not even find a new one. They accept a PO for payment which makes it easy as well. Refurbished Printers | Remanufactured Toners | Buy Used Computer
  21. We had this for a few days earlier on in the year, after a few phones were confiscated the issue went away!
  22. As we have HP printers then that kind of rules out a drivers issue! Maybe. Possibly. No idea! It's been going on so long now!
  23. Currently the SB Portal shows us using 59.57Mbps download and 3.55Mbps upload - a SpeedTest shows 6.6Mbps download and 86Mbps upload - where's the 133.83Mbps and 110.45Mbps that we're paying for? #missingbroadband #somethingsnotrightbutcantputmyfingeronit It's now gone down to less than zero again!
  24. Out of interest, what devices do you have? We have HP Laser Printers so would be interested to see if you have the same make or different?
