Yeah, they're definitely SID's of accounts that no longer exist.

Sounds like you're seeing a SID but without a screenshot I can't say for sure. If it is a SID you're seeing then you are correct in saying they are old/orphaned/deleted account that have been deleted.

What do you use to rivet them and what do they look like? We currently glue on acrylic to some of our older PCs that the 'little rascals' pull to bits so I'd be interested in seeing what they look like with rivets.

Microsoft purchased Sysinternals a few years back that used to have a product called ERD Commander that you could boot from to get a server back up and running, the ERD Commander is no longer made though... ...but it has been replaced by Microsoft MSDaRT (Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset) so download that and give it a try! Times before I've booted from that and the restarted the server without doing anything and it would then boot OK. If I remember correctly you can also enable the local admin account and reset it's password so you can log on in Safe Mode. Another thing to try, is can you connect to it via Remote Desktop?

Didnt work. Blank screen and had to reboot to get it to eventually display.

How expensive is it then?

We tried a few and ended up using Microsoft Word to do it. Just right-click the pdf file and choose open with > Microsoft Word.

I've had that happen so it's worth swapping the RAM over on the 2 machines just to prove it.

We cant see this option on our Windows 10 machines, we do have Automatic-Device-Join - is this the same thing?

Most of the VESA wall mounts I've seen use a security allen key to secure it in to place and so far none of the AIO's we've wall mounted have gone walkies.

I love Microsoft Licensing it's soooo easy to understand! Each time we renew they change how it's done and to add insult to injury there are multiple ways you can license all your software (all of which are correct) so you just pick the cheapest way - all you need is a large calculator, an excel spreadsheet and a packet of headache pills and a large wall to bang your head on!!!

The reason I 'think' it's free is because it costs £0 to install it on the server. However, you cannot use it unless you have paid for the correct amount of CALs. In effect the cost of SCCM must be built in to the cost of CALs which for businesses it's quite a bit, but for Education the cost of the CALs are not that bad. If I remember correctly, the cost of putting SQL on the SCCM server (as long as it's just for SCCM) is also 'free' (as long as you buy the CALs).

The margins are so tight it would take them years to break even if you dont buy much from them. We spend over 10x that amount on MS Licensing and we still only get around 28 days from all our suppliers! Have you tried looking for a second hand one on Amazon or eBay? You could swap the case over if that's the part that's broken? Might be cheaper than a new monitor again.

SCCM is free. It's just the CALs you have to buy (ours come as part of our Microsoft Licensing Agreement) I guess if you dont have them as part of your licensing and are a very large School/Academy then the cost may be too high which is a shame as we dont know how we'd live without it as it's great!

IT wont help you now but going forward you might want to consider doing a PDI (post delivery inspection) on all future deliveries to stop this from happening again. We always open up items like monitors within a few days of receiving them and security mark them, add them to the asset registers and when we're doing this you can clearly see if there is any damage or not. 28 days is the normal agreement you have with a supplier for things like damages or DOA (dead on arrival) items.

We have a Staff Standard Build and a Student Standard Build which consist of the OS with Office along with any programs everyone uses (and are either open source/free or site licenced) and then anything extra a room has (such as Minecraft EDU in 3 rooms) is part of a task sequence in SCCM. We used to add drivers to SCCM and let it handle installing them as part of the deployment but that was hit and miss on some of the laptops we have so I now add the drivers to the task sequence as a Program that silently installs. It works very well for us and by installing a load of software in to our standard builds it negates any issues with the task sequence occurring so not much to check after it's completed.

Does anyone know if the HP PCM (ProCurve Manager) software changed to something else as I can't find a current download for it. When I search Google for it all I can find is info on it from 2011, 2012 or 2014 and nothing recent so I'm wondering if HP have changed it's name. I was looking to run a trial of it to see what our HP Procurve switches are up to and to see what the software could do but I just cant find a current download which makes me wonder if it's had a name change or if HP have replaced it with something else?

We do the BCS ECDL here at our Academy and because of this we have to stick with outdated and clunky Operating Systems and Office products, namely Windows 8.1 and Office 2013! A year ago I contacted BCS to enquire if their software will work with Office 2016 and they said no but it would be very soon. FIFTEEN MONTHS later I got in touch with them again (today) and not only have they said they still don't fully support Office 2016 but they also said in their email that they don't support Windows 10 either!!! I am absolutely dumbfounded that the BCS has not been able to test their own software with an Operating System that has been out for nearly 2yrs now! How bad is their software that they can't make it supported by Windows 10?? They just keep telling people soon but can't give a date! Useless.

We watched that live last year and it looks great and I cant wait to see what it's like! Is there an actual release date yet other than 'some time during Spring'?
