Epson Eb-595Wi / Epson EB-585 Projectors + Whiteboards
Sagima replied to garethEds's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We got a couple with TK Team whiteboard 79" - don't get one of those as it's a pita to wipe pen off of (it just smears). The ones we have on most are 80" generic semi matte magnetic ones that the caretakers got from their suppliers and they are fine. Over the summer we bought an 89" one from magiboards.com for about £200 Semi Matt Dry Wipe Projection Whiteboards fro projection and dry wipe (up a bit in price now) -
Don't we just make bootable usb sticks these days?

Is your DHCP server virtual?
-
RemoteApp rather than Remote Desktop would be my vote (and is how we do it here)
-
Are you absolutely sure you don't have spanning tree enabled - it really seems like the sort of thing that happens when it isn't set up properly.
-
I was going to use LanSchool to open the files simultaneously - do you have something similar or something that allows en-masse remote control? (impero / ab tutor). good luck

Ah I don't have that many windows 7 computers to test with although I think I might try it with windows 10 tomorrow and see if I get the same problem. Can you try and open them from a share on another server or PC? Ideally one not running 2012r2 if you have it. I would try disabling av on the client and server one at a time (then both) just for a coupe of minutes as if it solves it completely you might be able to get a fix from sophos.

Are there dhcp addresses free to issue?

I have been tasked with updating Both Hyper-V servers (from 2012r2) SQL Server (from 2008r2) and to SQL 2016 (from 2008R2) (also physical to virtual and from four instances to 1 or 2 instances) Both fileservers (from 2012R2) Both Domain controllers (from 2012R2) Both DPM servers (from 2012R2) and DPM itself from 2012R2 to 2016 pretty much next week (two-week half term here) - I might put some off til christmas. My manager has a ot of faith in either microsoft or me

Done that, popped it into the VAT wizard and no luck (comes up as invalid). Thought there might be a patch but I couldn't find one with google.

Is there anything special I need to do to activate Server 2016 against my 2012R2 KMS server?

We've been using WorkFolders here for just over a year now as a replacement to Offline Files and as a compliment to RemoteApp explorer for teachers who want to use their own devices. In the first 12 months we had not a single problem with it but over the last two months we've had three people (all byod teachers) who had it error to to an invalid header. The not-obvious-to-me solution to this is to put their domain account into the windows credentials part of control panel.

Just the one episode left of Lovejoy to watch this evening and then I will have completed the whole six series. Up to series 7 of the remastered X Files now - pretty much everything after the film has been disappointing. Even mulder and scully seem to be a bit tired of it The series I am enjoying the most at the moment is American Horror Story (season 6) but my other half is rationing that to one episode a week (the way we used to watch tv in the 90s!) Going to have a look at designated survivor now though

We watched The Scorch Trials on Saturday. I'm not sure I really know what's going on in the film. I'm not sure I really managed to follow the previous one (The Maze Runner) either. I don't remember why we thought to watch the first one but I do remember enjoying it enough that we though we'd watch the second one. In both films I felt like I was somehow missing the point. It's about some teenagers (mostly played by people in their mid-20s) who seem to think that a company would spend billions of dollars setting up and staffing at least two enormous mazes full of traps and mechanical scorpion things, making sure they had food and clean water and eventually rescuing them from it when they manage to escape into what appears to be some sort of post-apocalyptic earth just to wind them up. In this film they/we discover that there are also zombies running around the place contaminating people with some wort of zombie-flu that those, seemingly quite, ungrateful kids were also being protected from. Turns out that their protectors and benefactors (from whom they escape again) are just trying to save everyone's lives (literally everyone in the whole world) but because these dozen or so 20-somethings won't stop escaping from their relatively safe surroundings of clean beds, food and water they are probably all going to die (or they'll be some twist at the end where the zombies are actually trying to save everyone by biting them. (The company seems to have about 30 other kids less hell-bent on ruining everything so I'm not sure why these ones are really worth the effort) I get the impression that the whole film series could have been avoided if, rather than building elaborate complexes they just offered each kid 10 million, a playstation and an apartment each. They'd have probably been more than happy for some light experimentation to discover the cure to the zombie plague. Anyhow the second film was rubbish. The first film is quite good. I don't know if they'll bother with a third but if they do watch them all then and see if it makes any more sense when they are viewed with less time inbetween. Although if you have anything better to do (like mowing the lawn or having the car washed) don't worry about them.

Pre-ordered £40 from gmg (cheapest version). Love civ 5 (getting rid of stacking and moving to hexes were great ideas). Loved civs 2-4 as well (I don't think I've ever played the first one) Was a bit torn as whether to wait til Christmas as i'm likely to finish my current game (Pillars of eternity) this week and then I need to find something that will take up no more than 8-10 days of my time to complete and really the next game to play is the blood and wine expansion to witcher3. Now I'm wondering if I'm going to regret not pre-purchasing the dlc packs in the deluxe version

Their accidental damage warranty covered us with wine spilled on it and with tea poured over it by a staff member's child (so they claim). I don't think we ever used it more than it cost us though. Now we don't buy staff devices (in theory)

We watched Silent Hill at the weekend. It's a film based on the computer game of the same name. I haven't played the computer game, I had vaguely heard of it. I'm assuming they just reshot all of the cut scenes from the game with short action sequences because that is what it felt like I was watching. Not entirely sure why they even bothered with Sean Bean (or the male policeman) - they're in it for about 15 minutes but if they weren't in it at all it really wouldn't have made much/any difference. To be honest the female police officer could have been dropped with little change to the script. Alice Krige seemed to be the only adult who put any effort into acting although I imagine quite a bit of what everyone else had to react to was cgi (I've seen her in four things and in half of those she was playing the borg queen which might have made her more comfortable with acting/reacting with imaginary cgi thingys) The girl had quite a bit to do and she did it reasonably well. She wasn't in it that much but as she was the focus of the film she carried the whole thing Don't watch it if you haven't - you'll never get those two hours back! If you liked the computer game I can only imagine how bad you might think the film is!

We have environmental monitoring network cards on our apc ups's in our three server rooms and they warn us via email if the temperature exceeds 25C or drops below 10C - air con should keep it at 22C. (The basement server room's ups also monitors the humidity)
