I'd just get a second fibre switch if you're happy with the first. You might want to look at an X4012 to connect all of your switches to - you can stick another one or a X1026 next to it on the same bracket (they are half-width switches) if you needed some more ports. (the x4012 is 10gig and under £900 with a rack mounting bracket each)

Staff just call us and we reset it to a specific password that they have to change on logon. The only pupils who turn up here for password help do so at break/lunch Teachers used to be able to do it but would phone us to instruct them how every single time so we just gave up with that plan

Scottish students misuse teacher's email account

If it's like here they'll type their password into the username box while projecting their screen The whole year probably knew the answers - the cleverer ones probably put in a couple of "nearly-theres" so it didn't look too obvious. -
Does the network adapter show the name of the domain when it's not working? If it doesn't Windows' public firewall settings may be blocking communication for some reason (if you've not configured/disabled it)

Internet browsers randomly not loading.

The first thing I would do is check your dns server's ettings. Maybe change the external dns lookups to be your ISPs dns servers or google's (whichever they currently aren't) -
Have you updated the configuration version of the VMs to 7 (from 5) I thought it might encourage it to look for the new integration tools

For something that small I would hope most of my account managers would sort it out so they wouldn't risk losing business over such a small thing but it's entirely up to them.

We have 2x 23TB backup servers (separate locations) and DR is technically over three replica fileservers (dotted about the site) as restoring a fileserver from backup takes about 20 hours - they are to big for offsite backup unfortunately

I think you can double click on the quota and edit it for that user (technically that path)

We use airserver on the pc in the room for that. ios, chromeos and android can connect directly - windows devices need something like airparrot. (if the sender+target is wireless I'm fairly sure win10 can connect to win10 but not if either is on ethernet - this also gives interaction at the pc that affects the mobile device) We do have a lot of epson projectors that can receive wireless input but it's not really used
-
We wanted to discourage usb drive usage (although we aren't allowed to ban them yet) which is one of the reasons why we don't enforce it with any gusto. As our headmaster says - storage is cheap (the staff and students take up almost 5TB now and we've just bought a new 12TB fileserver)

We're all ricoh here. The only problem we had was massively underspeccing the first couple of reprographics printers but that's resolved now I believe (we weren't expecting to be printing up to a million sheets of paper on them each each year)

I think we use Trakax when necessary but we don't always have people courses that require video editing. We have windows movie maker on a few computers as well.

All of our students have individual logins. Those that can't cope typing their own name (most are fine except the really little ones and those known as something other than their first name) have the teacher/ta do it for them

Coreldraw on remoteapp wouldn't stay open with 1511 but it's fine on 1607 I think that's about it

We're most of the way along - I reckon we're 90% win10 client and 60% 2016 server now. Doing an inplace upgrade for 2012r2 to 2016 was an error in judgment from me (I'd not had issues with 2008r2 -> 2012 or 2012 -> 2012r2) that server had nothing but problems. All of the other 2016 servers I have set up from scratch have been fine. Only problems currently are the redirected folders problem with using server manager to install stuff and I can't get storage replica to work - it claims mismatching sector sizes of 512 for both ends so I'm hoping they'll be a fix for that. My first 2016 server was for KMS and it invalidated the licence of almost every windows 7 client I had - they may have fixed that but i got around it in the interim by reimaging, setting up a 2012r2 kms server for win7 and using active directory activation for win10

I seem to remember being shown sophos device control in their av could do that. I don't have it to check though.

I assumed that was a mistype. But if it is 0 then select the virtual disk and from the drop down menu select reconfigure and follow the wizard

If it's raid 10 you can't add them into the existing array.

We don't restrict staff although we do prompt them each year to check their home drives (i'm not sure many do anything) Students get 2GB til year 8 then 4gb for 9-11 and 6gb for 12-13 but it's a soft quota so they justget emailed to lower it. We review the largest home drives on an irregular basis and encourage the students to start deleting things.

Staff running\saving .exe - Do you allow it?
Sagima replied to maxrebo's topic in How do you do....it?
No exe in home drives. we allow zip though. If you're looking to stop ransomware though this page gives instructions on using fsrm - it's what we do https://fsrm.experiant.ca/ -
[sccm 2012] SCCM has the driver but it not using it
Sagima replied to nicholab's topic in O/S Deployment
You don't have to apply the package like that, although it does make sure the right drivers get installed. As I understand it as long as it has been packaged and popped on a distribution point sccm will find it from the category in the Apply Device Drivers task sequence -
They can do anything they currently do in notebook 11 which is all our staff wanted. They get to play with the extra features while it's in the first year's subscription but although they like to use smart response they don't think it's worth actually paying for the rest of the suite to use it.

[sccm 2012] SCCM has the driver but it not using it
Sagima replied to nicholab's topic in O/S Deployment
Drivers are just all of the drivers - sccm does f all with those as they are although you can categorise them Driver packages are what the drivers need to be (and on a distribution point) put in for sccm to actually use them -
It is layer 2+ so it does a bit of routing but I use my firewall for that so I can't attest to how easy that is to set up but the routing wizard is exactly where you'd expect it to be. Do note that it doesn't come with the rackmount kit - you'll need to order that separately. You can either get the brackets that fit or a sort of shelf that you can fit another x4012, x1018 or x1026 right next to it - a sort of modular switch setup when looking but they are separate devices to manage - they don't stack as one unit.
