we use ofsted rating scale, staff seem to like rating us with the same scale they get rated by. Have 1 question asking overall rating. If you really want to drill down to see if there is any patterns you could also include something like please rate us in the following areas: Quality of Advice Promtness Professionalism etc etc. Then have the open question with a comment box at the end "Do you have any additional comments about your experience or suggestions on how we can improve?"

Also seeing the same issue. Weird thing is you can add the site to the whitelist for flash content, it works, remove from list and it still works..... I read somewhere that during 2017 google are looking to block flash by default except on some top domains that still need it. Maybe what we are seeing is related to this?

We've found it becomes an issue with keeping up with updates in OS X. The move away from workgroup manager to profile manager has been a farce. If you are only updating a small amount of macs every 5 years. You basically have to pay for upgrades on all kinds of software, not because you want to buy simply because you have to as it will no longer install. We simply don't have the budget to go creative cloud, update logic, upgrade Sibelius and so on.We'd need to basically rip out all our mac infrustructure and start again. iMac keyboards are expensive to replace and easy to break.Every other version of SMb seems to have its quirks and breaks permissions or something else on home shares. I'm looking at a bill of £40k for our iMac update where as I have priced a comparable upgrade at £25k that could be deployed in 2 days using our current win 10 image with additional tweak. Having a low number of highly intergrated macs in our network simply doesn't make sense to me any more with all our other time pressures.

Windows 10 they made SCEP/Defender the same thing. so if you are using SCEP for windows 10 it is still called defender. then to just really confuse things they have the additional Advance Threat Protection under the Defender branding. which is not just about reporting anti virus and malware but monitoring user behavior to protect against remote attackers so compromised accounts can be detected faster.

We are in the process of deployment similar to what rob said. Key thing we have found is to also monitor key parts of your network throughout each phase. We had a situation where we didn't pickup a policy not applying correctly this caused a large spike in internet activity when we ramped up from 10 user base to our stage 2 where we doubled the amount of machines we had to in 1 go. We have duplicated our Computer OU structure to separate 10 and 7 clients. Which should also allow us to clear any old defunct computer accounts out at the end of the migration. The approach you take really depends on how complicated your policies, ou structure and quantity of machines you have. This is also a good time to look at your policies and give them a spring clean to see if you really need all those settings under windows 10.

As people have said already mdt and later on sccm.do not under estimate how much time you will need to develop windows 10. You will also need to start thinking about how you want to manage updates and upgrades across the organisation. We've just decided to focus on 2 versions at any one time. So our focus is getting rid of the few 8.1 and 10 1511 installs we have. In favour of windows 7 and 10 1607 as our supported o/s types. Once every where is 1607 will we start developing "1705" what ever it will be called. We are then going to try and stick to the windows servicing model with the largest install base being on current branch for business. As for upgrading machines some will then be managed using in place upgrades, and then in labs etc we'll stick with a wipe/install method. As for image design we do not have some items in the image. Those applications such as adobe PDF we deploy post install so that they get the latest version from our repository Or no version as the default position to ensure no security issues are present should a user use the machine before install completes.

We have been deploying windows 10 for a couple of weeks and one thing that is really bugging me is none of the login screen clocks are in sync. Login and check the time and it's in sync. Log out again and they are no longer in sync. Anyone seen this and fixed it?

imo get a maintenance plan in place to deploy a new os image deployed as you can no longer trust any of the current machines in your network.

always something simple.... seems we were blackholed by our hosting company due to high traffic from 1 IP address....... I guess we'll be looking for some new hosting

We are currently trying to diagnose a fault with accessing our external website and Internal VLE. Other internal and external sites are working fine and the problem is linked as its happened 4 months before but seemed to randomly go away after restarting the internal server running the VLE (HyperV VM) no idea if it was linked but doing the same this time hasn. The external website is up if we can open it outside of our network and cannot ping it internally/externally although I suspect this is by design. The internal vle pings fine and eventually loads. any ideas pulling hair out with this 1.

1st ensure you have a real printer queue for each of your printers under printers tab. Then the device(as listed under devices tab) needs to be enabled on your virtual queue under printers tab. Then under device tab > device name ensure the device is enabled for follow me printing. Then (same page) enable/allow all the virtual queues for release on each device. On this page you also have to tell the printer to release jobs a printer queue which points at itself. Hopefully you have named the printer queues for each device the same as the device name. This will then allow users to release jobs from the selected queues on the device they are logged into. If you don't setup the follow me printing correctly on the device tab you will find papercut will randomly choose a follow me printer! That's my experience of it

One thing you find very quickly is that automated sync tools show how good or bad your Mis data is.

This is setting a password in SMHK end users can customise their logins to something shorter than their normal account if they so wish.

The unique email address issue is a pain in the ass, this can be down to a few issues as I see it. 1) Bad parental contact data in the MIS database, Duplicate entries creating separate contact info for the same person across multiple children. Unique email address per "Contact". works fine if its a single contact assigned to multiple children. 2) As far as I can see it the email address can not be assigned to multiple schools, just like UPN data for students. 3) Parent email address has been assigned as an email address at the school for a teacher(most likely this is what you are seeing) 4) same as above but the other way round, we have 3 separate schools in the same town (primary, secondary, sixform) member of staff at the college logged into their account using the office 365 SSO and it actually signed them into their parent account at the primary school. As for the staying logged in part, I don't mind this, if anything its taught a lot of families here that they need separate accounts on a shared computer at home!!!

No idea why they do not have the report publically available to admins..... and no way of re-importing it, must cause them so much work each September. any CMIS schools out there? not sure if its how our timetabler does class groups/timetables but we have a lot of duplicate class groups, 7k-hums for example is assigned to 3 different teachers. who ever is the last to get it in the timetable seems to get the class assigned to them in SMHK. we've obviously been advised that groups cant be duplicates but it turns out we have 33% of duplicate groups across the school! Big headache trying to work out if its going to have a massive knock on effect come report writing time if we change the group naming scheme.

+1 for acoustic/classical? guitar instead of the normal organ if they let you. Although we picked hymes That were playable on a guitar some simply don't work! We had a local guy called Steve bean play at both the church and our venue. He must have played for a good 6 hours and was worth every penny.

2016 makes more sense especially if you are office365.

With office365 I would initially restrict via licences and add them as and when you need to. You need to satisfy senior leaders that you are able to respond to any safeguarding issues when using these services, so before enabling anything ensure you have a process in place to access things like onedrive, yammer etc. also be aware of office365 groups and planner as students by default can create their own groups. Also be quick at evaluating new features so monitor your admin feed on a regular basis. One last tip. Plan your changes in active directory carefully do not rename OU's. Create new OU's give it time to sync then move users in small batches testing between syncs. Give active directory and the sync tools lots of respect and time to process changes. My techie decided to clean up the staff ou and renamed it for some reason and it caused all the staff accounts to delete in o365!! We are still getting some randomness 3 weeks on but are getting through them slowly.

I think the reason why google are in so many schools is that it had a massive head start. We've had Googledocs for our staff for 7 years at the college (probably when it was released). Our primary which we took over 5 years ago has been using exchange online since it became free. The latest carrot has been Office 365 with its Pro Plus and we're started deploying this to students last September and it was a big hit, we've recently finished migrating our student email over to exchange online. Me personally and a lot of staff I have spoken to, love the integration between Microsoft online and full applications. When your online they don't have to hunt down where an option is and for more complicated edits its a simple click away.

We used obs and live streamed to YouTube. Worked a treat even if the camera we used was a little over kill...
