Hello all, we have been slowly bringing our printing under control. but have done as much as we can without enforcing quota's. We are moving from safecom to papercut over the summer with a new printing fleet. We have increased the number of colour printers in our fleet with the aim of reducing queue's at the centre of our building where students have access to the only colour printer(other than the graphics rooms). How do you go about charging for colour printing (free mono printing) ? what levels of credit do you give and how do you manage heavy colour printing teams. small quota with top-up cards purchased by the team or do students just get a £XX budget and they have to make sure they can print within this? any advice greatly received as this is going to be a big change for the school as previously it was pretty much restricted by physical access to a machine!

We just replaced our Mac suite for pc's, Adobe cs 5 master suite doesn't install so Adobe and their crazy pricing backed us in a corner. Cs5 does what we need it to do at the moment....

Really? You don't use parent pay on your own personal account, they've had an annoying auto play video every time you login! -
ParentPay - Anyone else adversely affected by the payment changes?

Same thoughts here, apparently they are holding less money in the new system.... My suspicion lies with they wanted to share code between their 2 payment platforms parent pay has taken on the same functionality as their sister site nimbl, which deals with pocket money on a bank card and mum and dad top up the 'my account' and transfer funds to the child accounts. -

do you not have separate user and admin accounts? your admin accounts shouldn't be in the same OU as your users you are applying policies to. As you are only using accounts with admin rights to do admin tasks and not day to day tasks like browsing the internet or checking email, you don't need to aply the SRP to your admin accounts. so you should therefore have no issues installing software on those accounts.

I know teslacrypt follows shortcuts, so probably not going to help removing network drives.

The encrypted files are not the infection. The infection is at a desktop or most likely a laptop. Pull the cable from the file server, go lockdown and get hunting. Change wireless settings or create a new wifi network for "clean" devices. Make sure you use READ ONLY media for your security tool kit don't risk spreading via a sub stick

Shadow copies are deleted server side I can confirm this

As you can't sysprep upgraded machines we'll all be creating new images from scratch every year. I see this as a good thing as it should improve reliability as performance of an image always decreases with more and more updates. Selecting ltsb or education versions wint be a problem as Documenting/automating the process as much as possible will be key.

In the new admin panel preview there is a report that does this. Tells you what type of devices Mac PC iOS android but not names of devices

40 mins lunch here with 60 minute "Lunch" period. KS3 go to tutorial at the start for 20 mins and KS4 have 20 mins at the end. There is a 20 minute overlap in the middle where we have 900 students at lunch, its not too bad as KS3 essentially join the queue as the queue disappears. The key to a short lunch is a 100% cashless system with some grab and go areas away from the normal canteen area.

Use of personal devices for photographing children - Safeguarding risk
gaz350b replied to elsiegee40's topic in e-Safety
laws don't stop people from doing all kinds of stuff.... So why would a policy stop someone from taking inappropriate images wether it be on a personal or school device. Move it off the device and delete.... Most people wouldn't even notice. Might aswell ban all cameras. -
