Hi Rebecca, We usually go via KCOM (our ticket is I860035). Unfortunately (as @robk alludes to), the KCOM helldesk are limited by the information they can coax out of BT, so we (and they) are never quite whether the problem has actually been investigated or if BT have simply rebooted something in the hope it might fix it.

G Suite - view Google Docs / Drive sharing across all user accounts?
pete replied to pete's topic in Cloud Services
Yeah, been through there and tightened up what I can. We've inherited two organisations that work together but have two separate G Suite tenancies. They're also sharing other stuff (info for parents, for example) publicly. So I have to unpick it while breaking as little as possible. Both tenancies look pretty slapped together without much thought put into them. We inherited it from an MSP who inherited it from another MSP that set it up. --- Vault is turned on, but there's no retention set. -
G Suite - view Google Docs / Drive sharing across all user accounts?
pete replied to pete's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks guys, that helps. I assume if you want audit logs beyond six months it's one or more of: Give Google money for the functionality They don't exist (cos you have to increase retention before they were deleted) Use the API / GAM? ? -
Schools that are open for students (hub sites for children of key workers) should be a priority - if that's the case for any affected schools, go back to BT and let them know the school is open.

*Looks at tumbleweeds in sub-forum - decides to chance it and post anyway* We're seeing connectivity drops on a regular (not-quite-daily) basis at two of our sites in Lincolnshire. Both are affected at the same time. We raised a previous ticket and the finger was pointed at BT kit past the local exchange, but it's still an issue. Is anyone else seeing similar drops?

Is it still visible using Student Teacher View? (Focus > Student > Student Teacher View) I know that'll only show the primary contact but for class/form tutor use that's normally sufficient. Anything beyond that (here at least) tends to be more urgent and involves the office or someone with sufficient permissions.

[sims] Can someone test Options Online using Office 365 for authentication?
pete replied to pete's topic in MIS Systems
...and it's apparently back now. -
Would someone who's got access to Options Online (as an admin/teacher/parent) and signed up using Office 365 mind logging in and see if you have any success? https://www.sims-options.co.uk Testing it as me (Options Online admin rights) or any of our other Options herding staff, we get either a grey screen (usually implies permissions not set) or a pink "Not authorized" warning. Other parts of Capita (such as https://admin.sims.co.uk) that can use Office 365 are unaffected, even when using incognito tabs to check it's not cached credentials allowing it to work. I'm unsure if it's Office 365 straining under the load, or something on Capita's end.

If you're using Azure AD Connect, it'll whine in the event logs if it's having issues syncing a particular user's credentials. If they use an icognito tab / private browsing, does Teams start working? If it does, they've got stale cached credentials (though why it only affects Teams and not email, I don't know).

Coronavirus: General discussion (see opening post for rules)
pete replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
We're finding that Kerboodle is being awfully unreliable with password changes this year. Reset and account creation links frequently don't work or the site locks up (whether tested via home/4G/school). -
If you're running RemoteApp only, publish a RemoteApp that calls the *.appref-ms file in a .cmd file. There're no requirement for them to have logged in with a full desktop that way. In the below screenshot we've copied the link from someone's desktop, created a C:\Program Files\Sage 200 folder and placed the shortcut and .cmd in there. edit: it also handles update to the application without issue.

We've got some FS.com and 10Gtek modules and both brands perform without issues.

We noticed that we've barely had any deliveries today (averages 30-50 packages / day) I've got dispatch confirmations for orders, but nothing turning up. Has anyone else noticed this? I can understand stuff turning up late due to stock issues, but these are in stock. If couriers aren't wanting to visit schools or be a transmission vector by going school-to-school, a heads-up would be nice.

Disaster recovery - recover to Azure?
pete replied to localzuk's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
IIRC you're providing central services for multiple schools, right? Which skews it more towards "pay money to get things up and available". In terms of costs, what does your insurance policy say about spend on stop-gap services to maintain availability? If it was a flood (for example), then a flood cleanup company's bills would be covered by the insurance. -
Our (1500 students and ~250 staff across 4 sites) printing costs aren't as keen as @PrimaryNetMan (who's your supplier?), but the per-click pricing in the OP seems way over the odds compared to ours.

Our other criteria is "Groups should have school-appropriate sufficiently descriptive names".

Could anyone collecting data using Microsoft Forms at the moment check if they had any responses submitted on 29-02-20 please? We've noticed a gap combined with someone saying they definitely filled in a form properly. At the moment I'm 60/40 between user error/developer error.

Student Email Account & Parental Access
pete replied to jaminben's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
My first question would be "What problem are you trying to solve?" We wouldn't give a member of the public access to organisation IT systems. They're neither a student or an employee. In the case of a student in hospital without WiFi and a looming deadline (for example), we'd likely email the work across to the parent. -
Subject Access Request - Whats reasonable
pete replied to titch's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
It's also worth pointing the solictors to your retention policies. Person A may still have an email but person B may have deleted a related email and it's fallen outside retention. (our policies are set as "must exist for at least X time" for audit purposes, YPMV) -
Try looking for Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" or similar in the message header (apply this rule if a message header matches text patterns) for outgoing mail.

Whats your procedure for allowing guests on your network
pete replied to maxrebo's topic in Wireless Networks
"Use the segregated guest network". Student teachers are issued a work laptop from the teaching school for the duration of their stay, so there's not much call for it.
