Office 365 rule to only allow a parent to email a single member of staff?
pete replied to MrWu's topic in Cloud Services
A transport rule with something like "If sender is [email protected], redirect to staffmember@school" ..assuming the parent doesn't have N+1 email addresses/doesn't change their email address. -
We have attachment (message size) limits set to 60MB currently. We make it clear to staff that while we allow up to 60MB of attachments, not all schools or companies do and if the message bounces they need to split it into multiple messages or use a OneDrive link. But what do you have set for total message size?

What do the logs say on the switches? How are they configured?

I'd probably add a "File version X.X.X.X or Greater" check in there on Onedrive.exe.

We've done a few with external-grade APs. Typically we mount on 2-3 storey buildings as high as we can get, so theft isn't an issue. Your "small cage" will cause signal problems unless you go for heavy-duty plastic.

Soon to be discontinued by everyone (https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/10/browser-vendors-unite-to-end-support-for-20-year-old-tls-1-0/). TLS 1.2 is 11 years old this August.

Cheers guys. I had a quick play with a test account (you get to do one assessment). I'm not sold on the "it's anonymous" argument, because there's enough info on a profile (school, class, gender, dob, language, medical/behavioural) to make an educated guess.

Sorry, this isn't useful to you, but you're the only person on here mentioning the service and I've been tasked with due diligence. How are your lot finding Boxall Profile and (from a technical / data protection standpoint) does it do anything daft?
-
Yup, you're right - one of their 3rd party mailing service using [email protected] (firmstep.com) doesn't support it.

GDPR and sending media off to exam boards

I read the letter (assuming we got the same one) as the password being unique for each school. Now I'm going to have to track down our exams officer. You'd struggle to secure a prosecution unless it was wilful (not a "it's my house and it landed back-side up on the mat, so yes - I opened it and then realised"). And you'd still have a data breach to deal with. -
Password sync should be every 2 minutes (using Azure AD Connect). Syncing a new user (for example) is every 30 minutes.

*cough*LibreNMS*cough* (assuming your switches are vaguely sensible, it'll tell you what's connected via CDP/LLDP).

At £26/each if you need to reboot an unresponsive AP/IP camera, you're going to need a ladder and/or cabinet keys to physically unplug the cable (either at the cabinet or the ceiling tile). And the linked model doesn't support Gigabit, while most new APs do.
-
We use these (or the newer model) in Learning Support and I'd recommend them.

I have "normal keys" and "it's the holidays, nothing's unlocked, massive bunch of keys". Normal keys are on a Wunderkey (imagine a swiss army knife, but keys inside) with RFID fob for the alarm, a technic lego brick* and a gerber shard. *The key board at home is a triple-stacked lego base plate.

^ Which is why your bank (for example) always tells you the gist of changes to any terms of conditions in the body of the email. Sticking it on a website and not telling anyone won't hold up in court.

https://dbatools.io/ "dbatools is a free PowerShell module with over 500 SQL Server administration, best practice and migration commands included" ...and it's really quite good. I've been playing with it today to copy test databases about (before I use it on production ones).

As a data point I've used Barton Watchbands (leather straps are top grain) and the products are decent.

GSuite / GApps for Business on my own domain. They offered it for free for a while and anyone who took advantage of the offer back then can still use it without charges.

We've bought Eaton and APC and there's not been a lot in it (IME) in terms of reliability. We have an APC RM Symmetra powering the server room that's coming up for 9 years old. The batteries have been swapped three times now and it's been very reliable (though for the price, it should be).

I spotted them posting in /r/homelab about it yesterday. Just give them a nudge to fix the your / you're typo on the homelab page. (https://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/refurbished-servers/home-lab-servers) -
Does that mean you're willing to price match? Based on indicative pricing offered to other schools, you are not at all competitive.
