Has anyone in Lincolnshire had an invite to place the order yet? (we've seen nothing at MAT level)

Try Gavin at Active Networks, based in Sleaford. 0800 612 6051 [email protected]

It depends how much they paid: https://learn-umbrella.cisco.com/datasheets/cisco-umbrella-package-comparison-2 The basic version (DNS Security Essentials) allows adding custom lists, but there's not much differentiation from bare OpenDNS beyond the umbrella reporting backend (that we won't have access) for potential issues. But if you spend more, you can get full custom filtering.

Yeah, I'm still chasing them about the ability to top up the data caps. 3GB/month isn't going to cut it given most subjects are trying to do a couple of live lessons per week.
-
That conflicts with the response I got (today) when querying data caps on 4G: The form factor will be as a Myfi style device with SIM pre-installed The SIM will only be provided with a 4G hotspot. DfE have contracted a 6 month data contract with a 3GB monthly data limit. The 4G service is filtered. It will be possible for a responsible body to redistribute the data allowances between devices if required.

They're usually pushed out as an executable that replaces a couple of files and Pulsar.exe. Was it a zip file, or did you extract the .exe? SCCM or . Capita's installers are pretty generic - there's little that can't be pushed out in the usual manner.
-
Haven't seen the patch in question, but you can push most Capita workstation patches/updates out with the /s switch using SCCM/powershell/whatever.

This is for me to pair with a GiffGaff SIM. I'm after decent battery life, works while charging and reliable. I've looked at the Huawei units such as this ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Huawei-Low-Cost-Super-Fast-Portable-Warranty/dp/B07Z5LWMNZ/ ) and provided you're willing to rtfm, they seem OK. Has anyone bought anything recently for them or a whole bunch of students that they can recommend?

90% GDPR compliance for home workers - I doubt it!

90% of people surveyed didn't have access to personal data when out of the office? -
You can simply archive the VM just in case. But I'd migrate any data that you need (retention and destruction schedule is your friend) into Bromcom.
-
^ I did it under Sharepoint and then clarified it was Forms.

Yup, multiple users seeing runtime errors. I've raised a report, but a few more won't hurt.

Load testing Moodle - 1000+ online users
pete replied to barnabythebear's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Are all those users going to hit the system at once and stay using it for the whole day, or it is more staggered? And do you know the tasks they'll be doing? Is it very interactive with lots of traffic back and forth, or more "read this page, click, read next page, agree to form"? There's plugins such as this: https://moodle.org/plugins/report_benchmark which might reveal any problems, but it won't give you an indicator of how it handles 1000 users at once. -
FYI, the Summer Census has been cancelled: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-reducing-burdens-on-educational-and-care-settings/reducing-burdens-on-educational-and-care-settings They're still deciding if Autumn will go ahead.

Governors have a school email account and are encouraged to use them for school/trust business by the clerks. It's partly for accountability and audit, but mostly for GDPR compliance and some semblance of order.
-
Can you get to the IIS default page? What do the webserver logs say? Is it seeing any traffic from the outside?

^ I've got a 7 year old 1810-24G bolted to a shelving unit next to me in the home office and I can't hear it. It's not fancy, but it's reliable.

Is refurb/ebay an option (assuming it's not a power-hungry screaming monster)? And is the 8-port form-factor a necessity, or would a refurb 24-port be fine provided it's quiet? (example refurb pricing below) https://www.techbuyer.com/networking/switches/hp-procurve/hp-procurve-switches?price=0-121.51898734177215

An NHS IT project, designed by Palantir (of all people) that reports back to a central database? That doesn't even work? On my phone? Nope. I'd rather they realised their mistake and redid it than create a false sense of security via a poorly designed app.

We (Trust) had the LA (Lincolnshire) email late yesterday re the social care laptops. Our schools are filling in the info now.

Blindsight by Peter Watts available here (author's website) for free: https://www.rifters.com/real/Blindsight.htm or on Amazon (get Echopraxia, which has a second related book) The Death and Life of Schneider Wrack by Nate Crowley (don't read while eating)
-
^ Not a sausage. We did get a contact from the county council asking who they should talk to regarding the social care laptops. That email indicated lead times of weeks, but it's not clear if that referred to council or the scheme as a whole.
-
^ Same as @Liam, IIRC. Be aware you need student email addresses in SIMS for it to work, if you don't already have that.
