  1. Because Facebook closes duplicate or fake accounts. Also against their terms of service. Pourquoi?
  2. Would configuring the Pi to be a PiHole to filter all adverts work? That way you could use AppleTV and not worry about SmartTube
  3. We had people's personal accounts linked as admins and ensured there was always more than one person as admin, at least one person from IT on there as well. This was fine until I left and the Marketing person didn't add anyone to replace me and then managed to remove herself. Luckily, they also hadn't removed me, so I sorted it (begrudgingly)
  4. Hurrah! Great news. I've tried to enjoy the US one and it is OK but is just missing something from the original.
  5. As Brucey used to say, "good game, good game". Arrived at the right answer in the wrong way on a couple. But good fun.
  6. You will have problem doing LDAPS then. You need a directory to authenticate against. EDIT: In regard to your second post, if you aren't using AD then yes MRBS and a directory service can be on the same server. If this is a Windows environment, I would not recommend putting MRBS on the DC.
  7. I'd agree with colly72, with everything we have to do, adding tasks such as web host security and patching, ignoring the actual website maintenance, would need to have a very good reason.
  8. Do you have AD on your test network?
  9. Make it second week. First week will be getting your head round people and places!
  10. Head of IT Services. It was Head of IT but I kept being mistaken for a teacher, so I got Services added. Role is to manage team, set strategy, implement policy, tender systems, run projects and everything down to resetting passwords, just because.
  11. It will totally end that way, it is the logical conclusion, but that isn't a bad thing. I was Octopus Agile for a while and you just think about your usage a bit, pre-heat the oven before the peak slot, put appliances on overnight. Nothing could get anywhere near the price I was paying.
  12. Candles, boardgames, hot chocolate. Proper sleep over
  13. I can't remember which one, but I had a quick look at Senso and Impero and one had the ability to set on times and days, which stopped the device being discoverable and one had the option for the pupil to open the app or connect. So the teacher would have to get the pupils to join but at least the personal devices wouldn't be permanently connected. I think it was Impero that did the on times, as one issue I had was how to remove their devices from the system if they leave. So, you can have classroom management but there will be an element of collaboration needed. I'm more of the view that staff need to adjust their tools to include managing pupils using devices. One good tip a teacher here uses is the hands up action. They yell it and pupils have to put up their hands, shows pupils that are playing games but also stops all activity and focusses the pupils to the teacher. Not sure 6th Formers will be as receptive to that, but it is an option. Also some teachers get the pupils to use the devices in a flatter profile so the screens aren't a barrier. I always relate it to a pupil having a magazine in a class, how do they deal with it how do they notice the pupil is reading that rather than the textbook. Not perfect but close enough.
  14. I've had iSAMS in 2 schools now. Moving from any old school MIS it is head and shoulders above them. In my opinion it is a good system. My only annoyance is they need to pull their finger out on some major updating of modules, some things have been coming soon for a long time. But I think COVID and being taken over knocked their roadmap out. Things have started picking up and these are extra functionality rather than missing features. I've not noticed any major issues since IRIS took over.
  15. Does the phone system work? To give context, my last 3CX install never passed firewall tests but worked flawlessly. I'd keep going back to resolve the issues but the test just did not like our setup. It annoyed the heck out of me but worked.
  16. Really unhelpful I'm afraid but a finger? Pretty cheap and they tend not to be lost... Well, except that one time, but we aren't allowed to talk about that.
  17. One of us, one of us!!
  18. What are your reservations?
  19. You've not come across Yorkshire Burritos? The Subway Christmas offering looks good, comes with gravy dip. Though the Brie melt, though less christmassy, looks nicer!
  20. It's great. I've had it turned on for a while now and it really concentrates the mind.
  21. If you are unsure ignore/reject it. If it is important someone will come to you with a confused look wondering why they can't login to an app or have had a rejected message. Do the requests not come with a username?
  22. Sorry I think I am misunderstanding here but is that no need for VLAN beyond the core?
  23. Has the new version released yet? I had been waiting about 2 years for it to release at my last place. And that is coming up on a year ago.
  24. Depends on what you choose. Intune can do all that.
  25. Haven't used NetGear in a long while but they were always a bit bargain bucket, lacking in features. That may have changed. I'd ask about realistic lead times and if they say there are no problems, laugh and walk away from that company. Then get an order in ASAP so you are in the queue.
