  1. I'm just speculating here, but I'm guessing your existing Ubiquiti kit was to WiFi 5 or AC standard, whereas when I look at the Fortinet 231G I notice it supports WiFi 6 or AX standard. I'd be tempted to deliberately disable AX for now on the controller, as few devices support the standard. I'd also set the security level to WPA2 rather than WPA2/WPA3 mixed, if this is currently set.
  2. I've observed similar behaviour recently with some Android based interactive panels/screens. Performing a firmware upgrade and a reboot resolved this in my case. Similarly iOS and Windows devices were connecting to WiFi (Unifi) without any issues. It just sounds like your issue is the other way round.
  3. I'm not sure why this would be anymore of a risk than other neighbouring WiFi connections? Anyhow - is there any reason why connecting via Ethernet isn't an option, unless it's just not practical or no Ethernet port on the devices being used? Seeing as it's a BT router, you should be able to reset it to factory defaults and login to the router using the credentials on the small plastic card that's included. Optionally you can change WiFi parameters on the router web interface, however WPA2 is absolutely fine. A timer plug or similar for the router could be used so the WiFi is not available out of hours (optionally).
  4. I wonder if this is temporary or permanent? Did they specify what the real reason was?
  5. I'm surprised, as you could buy TSOHost hosting linking to that domain for example!?
  6. Same TSOHost, but point my domains to O365 nameservers, so all DNS changes are performed within O365 Admin. You do have to put the request in manually to their helpdesk, as manually adding/specifying the domain won't allow .sch.uk by default. Their support is spot on to be honest with tickets turned around quickly.
  7. I would recommend Cloud Key Gen 2 over Windows/Windows Server installations. Definitely worth the investment.
  8. You can buy native DP > HDMI cables - I'd also suggest upgrading graphics drivers beforehand.
  9. Morning all, I resolved this issue for a user earlier this week - I reset Internet Options > Advanced to defaults, then uninstall Chrome on the workstation and re-install/update and it worked.
  10. Thanks Kieran - so when switching on an LX, what exactly happens, or does it connect straight to an HDMI output (a Windows PC), in this case?
  11. Hi all, Has anyone used a Promethean LX panel in an education setting? The specifications seem high for the low price and we're using a Windows device plugged in, rather than the on-board features/OS. TIA.
  12. There's a GPO for this - Computer Config > Policies > Admin Templates > System > Logon - Assign a default domain for logon Enter the required name in the field. All users thereafter will need to logon using [email protected] Entering jbloggs as before will no longer work. This is the cleanest/quickest way, however from experience I've had resistance from some users, despite requiring to enter the above in O365 for example (don't ask).
  13. I've managed to get to the bottom of this... naively I thought having either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge would be sufficient to allow PDF previews in Explorer, but you still require another application such as Adobe Acrobat Reader or Foxit Reader, which both include the shell extensions required to allow PDF previews in Explorer. Newer versions of Microsoft Powertoys also allows PDF previews by including the shell extensions - almost standalone, but not quite. In the end I installed Foxit Reader for just the users that required it, but kept Google Chrome as the default PDF viewer.
  14. Morning all, When uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader (in my case using a script), then rebooting the device, thereafter the Windows Explorer PDF Preview Handler appears broken. PDFs are no longer displayed/previewed, despite Google Chrome already being the default browser with all its defaults. This is controlled/managed centrally via GPO using an answer file. When double clicking a PDF, it opens/displays in Google Chrome without any issues. I've tried - - Rebooting the device again - Restarting the Explorer process when logged on - Resetting Explorer to defaults in Control Panel - Re-installing Google Chrome in situ - Resetting Google Chrome to defaults - Checking Google Chrome is up-to-date I've observed the following registry entry was missing - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PreviewHandlers Name: {3A84F9C2-6164-485C-A7D9-4B27F8AC009E} Data: Microsoft PDF Previewer Added this in manually, restarted Explorer again and it still doesn't display. I can re-create the issue on my VM, but I'm at a loss as to what else to try, unless further registry entries are missing? I don't know whether this is a Microsoft issue, or is it poor coding from Adobe, leaving Windows in a broken state? All thoughts/opinions welcome!
  15. I've not observed any issues with v7.4.162 at multiple sites - all CKs.
  16. Have a look here for granular MIS market stats.
  17. I like both, but the fact you've mentioned timetabling, I'm guessing this is for a Secondary school? It's more so about what's the best fit, rather which is the best MIS, as in all honesty there's very little between them functionality wise.
  18. I can only conclude it's GPOs and/or a roaming profile causing this issue.
  19. I presume you're using Chrome or Edge and that they're both up-to-date? I can't say I've observed sticking accounts after deleting the browser cache!
  20. Try deleting the browser cache/cookies - this should clear it. It's most likely because the other account hasn't properly signed out. If multiple accounts are required on a single logon, browser profiles are the way to go. Similarly in lockdown, where a family had 2 or 3 children and they all in turn needed to sign in. Browser profiles resolved this too keeping their sessions segregated.
  21. Same ^^^ If you haven't already, navigate to your Unifi Controller and select your WiFi name. Scroll down and under Advanced, and untick Band Steering. The System log is the last but one icon, bottom left > AP
  22. A quick Google and you can only recall emails sent from Gmail within the first 30 seconds... although it's changeable up to 1 hour. The link I posted above does work with O365, but only if the message hasn't been read/opened by the recipient. I guess the bigger issue is how has this happened twice? I'm guessing renaming groups may be a consideration, as this is going to create a lot of work!
  23. You can recall emails using the O365 Teacher account in Microsoft Outlook (not OWA).
  24. I presume your WiFi solution is dual band?
  25. Isn't this the whole point of Edugeek? Everyday's a school day!
