  1. Hi everyone, Has anyone suddenly realised that they are heading for a disaster with Microsoft's decision to cap the pooled storage. We have found out today that our limit is 120TB and this limit will be enforced from August 1st. We are already 56TB over that limit! Our users have A5 for faculty, A5 for students use benefit, and A1. Actions I have taken: Reduce OneDrive retention period after a user is deleted from 365 days to 30 days. At the minute users OneDrive storage is capped at 5TB and I want to reduce that to 1TB or maybe even less starting from September, but people who are over 1TB right now will lose write access with their OneDrive going to read only. I want to reduce the number of shared mailboxes that we have, as these also count towards our pooled storage. Can anyone think of anything else that can help me reduce the 57TB surplus. Thanks,
  2. Is anyone else having problems with VMWare since Broadcom took over? Yesterday while working from home I noticed my VMWare said 'You do not have privileges to view this content'. My colleague in the office can login but only see one site, but we have two sites and its shared login for everyone. The Broadcom website is next to useless because I can't create a new case, and when speaking to someone on the phone from Broadcom she told me because I do not have an enterprise account. But she could not advise how to make my account into an enterprise one. Phoning for support is also useless as I am not down as a named contact so they won't speak to me. My line manager is off until Thursday and I don't know what to do. The situation is not urgent YET, but I feel pretty uneasy being unable to see our second site.
  3. Does anyone have any experience of using Microsoft Planner in Office 365? It works fine for staff, also our students can access it fine. The issue is when students click 'New plan' they get the error message 'Plan and Microsoft 365 group creation disabled. You are not a member of an existing group. To create a new Microsoft 365 Group, contact your organization's global admin' Both staff and students use A5 licence, and there isn't a 'Planner' admin panel for me to enable it for students. Any thoughts on this issue? And what is your experience using MS Planner? Thanks,
  4. Hi all, I am in the process of migrating all of my users videos from Stream Classic to Stream on SharePoint, given that classic retires after Easter. The first batch I am doing are the users with only 1 or 2 videos to start with to see how the process works; I am using the built in migration tool from Microsoft. Under Migration Status, the current batch of videos I processed having been saying 'finalising' for almost an hour now. Does it normally take this long? And what experience have other people had using the migration service?
  5. Hi all, We pay for a 300 Mbps connection from BT in our student accommodation. Yet even on a wired connection, with no other clients plugged in, and using fast.com as the speed test we are only seeing a maximum of 90 Mbps. The switches are gigabit ethernet so they should be able to handle faster speeds of 100+ We use Unifi to control the wireless access points. And PF Sense as the gateway/ firewall Of course, phoned BT and they say that they can't see any issues on their end. Any have any ideas?
  6. Hi all, I've been over there today and put my laptop on a static IP. This worked. I was able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not Google.com or our domain using its name etc. Definitely DHCP/ DNS issue. Thanks all,
  7. I can ping external IPs and DNS is working. I am able to pnig bbcnews.co.uk
  8. Yes there's a firewall which runs PF Sense
  9. I am the network administrator at a college, we have 2nd site which is our the university side of things. We have a student accommodation block at the uni which gives the students in there access to Wifi. Something strange has been happening for a week now, student's smart phones and tablets will connect just fine. But all laptops connect but say 'No internet, secured'. I have already tried the obvious- Restart routers Restart switches Forget and reconnect Tried ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release and ipconfig /flushdns Ran updates and firmware update on the routers My next port of call is a static IP. Going in there with a laptop on a static IP and see if that resolves the issue. Any more ideas or help anyone can come up with would be good? - - - Updated - - - Also, we use Unifi and PF Sense as the controllers
  10. Hi, we have a student at my college wanting to play a video continuously on loop as part of their summer show. The USB is plugged directly into the projector, I have found how to create a loop with a slideshow of images. Does anyone know of a way to play a video on loop? Thanks,
