I just came across this now - and it works great - thanks to all involved. @einjelhart I put the script as a start up script as per the instructions in the file , when you click on the browse button within the policy Policies-->Scripts-->Startup-->Properties-->Add-->Browse, you can paste the script into that location, select it and hit open.

The wife did ITIL training at Stratum but thats all the way down in Cardiff, dont know if thats of any use to you. There was a lot of night reading, was very full on and there was an exam she had to pass. It was tough but she seemed to really enjoy it. (She then went on and did PRINCE which was a similar structure).

Sadly more and more students believe internet access = wifi, I often get reports that the Wifi is down or not working on their computer.

I use AnyVideoConverter - convert to MP4 at the same time.

1. I took us away from RM last summer - I found RM bloated and actually prevented me from managing the network the way I wanted. Dont regret it but takes a bit of planning and testing. I did it on my own over the 6 week period in a school of 1200 students and 150 staff. 2. A Hypervisor is the server/ system that runs the virtualisation (Microsoft HyperV , VmWare, Citrix Xen etc). Its the system behind the scenes on which you run you virtual servers. 3. Ours cost were £15k for a SAN ( 2tb of fast storage available for os and 4 tb available for slower data with 2 x hots of each), £3k for hosts (bought 2) Intel Xen E5-26200 @2GhZ - with 16G RAM including VMWare I would certainly look at both moving away from RM and saving the money (as long as you can still run your network effectively!) and virtualisation for central servers.

At what point do we all draw the E-Safety line with our Policy
CamelMan replied to Tech-head's topic in School ICT Policies
For us it depends on the situation - however if you take the tech out of it, if a student was being bullied in the evening - the school would still get involved to care for the student. The tech changes the details and makes it easier but whats happening would still probably fall somewhere between school and parents - Id imagine that something along the lines of "School would assist where possible, support the student and liase with parents" might be a policy line applicable. -
Does anyone know of a company that loans Macbooks for a period of time? Its not something that I've come across before but a colleage in another school has asked - they need it for a student to do an exam (they actually need two) due to her special needs but it will only be used for a few weeks.

Ultima Underworld Wolfenstien / Doom / Duke Vampire the Mask. Syndicate Xwing / Wing Commander series Frontier Elite XCom Enemy Unknown Settlers too many to list!
-
No - just push out the XNA msi first and the Kodu should install fine. Teachers have been using it alot for the last few weeks and no reports of problems.

We've gone O365 a bit concerned about being charged but we'll wait and see - there is always Google. Can you not use Sims in this case (we have Intouch which might be why we can do it)?

Google Classroom vs Office 365 Teacher Dashboard
CamelMan replied to CamelMan's topic in Cloud Services
Thanks for that - out of interest is there a reason you use Google Drive rather than Onedrive - they looked pretty much the same when we looked at them? -
We are an Office 365 school but I've been toying with the idea of Google Classroom to help staff get resources to students etc (we dropped the VLE approach a few years ago due to lack of use). I believe you can sign up to Google Classroom with non Gmail accounts (as I would want to keep the accounts the same) however is the passwords sync from AD -> Office365 -> Google a viable solution (or Ad -> both). I've also come across the Teacher Dashboard plugin for O365 - has anyone implemented it successful and has anyone been able to compare it to Google Classroom (pros' cons etc both seem to do similar things). Any feedback appreciated!

We used cable ties to stop theft but that only slowed them down, bought a load of this type of machine: The Novatech Pro NAI20 And thats stopped the mouse & keyboard theft and moving around (connections are hidden behind a panel that we used security screws on). In terms of malicious damage (breaking panels / monitors / buttons etc) it really is a supervision issue, or work really hard checking them after each session find a few culprits and throw the book at them as a deterrant!

Is there a statututory requirement to have a VLE (primary)
CamelMan replied to grinch's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Agreed - we dropped ours as it was simply not being used correctly despite a few staff actively pushing it for years. Cant see why it would be a legal requirement and VLE's are used in different ways across sites, so would be strange if it was. -
Havent got the pics to hand but Im a fellow Blackstar ID TVP user (60 single speaker version, just sold my Fender Mustang III), PRS SE, Fender Tele Modern Player and Epi SG400 guitars.

Hey Leon - you dont work there do you? iamleon recommending IAMCloud, there is a Leon M working there as Director of Marketing?
-
Thanks it looks a bit full on for what Im looking at for this - but will keep it in mind. (Edit: in response to the IAM Cloud suggestions - the reply didnt follow the post!)

They are in the cloud if i understand the question correctly - our Office 365 environment is running as a self contained unit. Really all I want is to link it up to our new domain for password authentication which we had previously, but I dont want to screw up anything existing!
-
Pretty much yes - will need to setup the syncing software, and connect for example jonesDavid123 on our new domain to the existing [email protected] The actual account names will be the same. I looked into this briefly before and it was something along the lines of creating a soft mapping to a user element other than the unique one that O365 usually use. Edit: If someone has a link to a guide or something then that would be appreciated too!!
-
Does anyone have any recommendations on a decent company to help setup our password sync and potentially single sign on? I put a new domain in over the summer and disabled the link to the old one (so all the O365 exist in cloud). Im looking at getting it set back up now but I need to link our new accounts to the existing ones in the cloud without endangering the email or documents there. Just can find the time to sit down and focus on it at the moment and Im getting sick on the kids who cant remember their passwords!! We're in South Wales so someone local-ish would be helpful and greatly appreciated!

Just came to do this and found this: Kodu Forum | New Update (December 21, 2015 -- Version 1.4.111.0) Link to msi at the bottom of the page - just testing now.... EDIT: Works fine but you also need to roll out the XNA msi: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20914
