We're down sizing our Music department due to lack of up take (some old macs running Logic) but my plan was to replace with PC, with Sibelius / Reaper etc. due to costs and network integration. @ICTDirect_Dave did a piece a thread a while ago on here which spec'ed up a good refurb solution for it - you might want to have a chat.

+1 for the Ziggi's £70 on amazon good images, decent software and arm for getting over the document makes them good for the classroom.

Had the same problems - VeryPC flex's sorted that out, however we bought some security screws just to make sure. Give Colin a shout he was great to us (other VeryPC employees are available....).

Yup got around 90 Lenovos Tiny's with the All in One Monitor, works great with no issues here. One thing to bear in mind for classroom use is that the VGA port is used by the AIO monitor meaning that you'll need a display port to vga adapter if you want to hook it up to a projector.

You can buy the base they use from amazon (I think its called Swvel or something similar), stick it on tripod and attach a tablet of choice to the top. You loose the online editing facilities but we found it to restrictive anyway, so did everything local on the iPad and then edited on PC after.

Our LEA recommended https://www.nvaccess.org You need to configure it a bit to be usable but it can do the job and its free.

I think you can add another domain suffix and add their email address to the GP object to get around that. Did it a while ago but I think you turn on advanced settings to add the suffix part. A sync should then soft match based on their email and username with the correct suffix. You can always wipe the immutable ID of the O365 account if the existing account wont match up.

We went from CC4 -> Vanilla 2 years ago. From £4,000 a year maintenance to zip. Less problems, less frustrations and more freedom. But we had the knowledge internally to manage the system, not every school is in that boat, however from using CC4 for 3 years I personally could not recommend it and would always look to a vanilla solution if possible.

Just started getting something similar on our Attendance officers machine: Transaction (Process ID 51) was deadlocked on thread | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. Only getting it when adding the attendance marks of students - did you find a resolution for this?

I've just started looking at this recently - Virgin Business seem good value for good speeds, has anyone got any experience of using Virgin or is there reasons that schools dont use them?

Hi I am weighing up the options on some of our suites and I may be able to sell 32 of our 3 year old Lenovo Tiny Machines. Lenovo M72E i3 4Gb RAM 120 Gb HD Vesa mounted to the back of Lenovo 19" monitors (included) Kbd / Mouse All in great condition. This would be a school to school transaction- ideally looking to sell a job lot - an instant IT Suite! Worth around £300 each but happy to take £7.5k for the lot. I can see it being a viable practice for Curric. in the next few years - O365 / Gafe/ Whatever comes next on Chromebook / Tablet devices. You would still need an onside curric server on site if you want specialist machines for art / dt etc. Very fast, reliable connection + backup link essential. Majority of what students do (here at least) is web access, word, excel and powerpoint - all can be replaced by cloud. For the "business" side of the school I cant see it currently being a replacement just yet due to the packages being used and the impact on the school if the link goes down. If the teacher cant get documents they can go back to chalk and talk. If the MIS system is unavailable then you may need to close due to fire regs, registers etc. (BTW we don't have a Curric / admin split Im just talking concepts).

We dropped Moodle a few years ago - staff not interested and was just used as a way to share files for students - you can replace that with Google Docs / Classroom, Office 365 etc. We are O365 and Im waiting to to see how Microsoft Classroom stacks up against Google before committing to either.

Yes - Server 2012 FSRM with staff read only up until their faculties / departments.

Faculties / Departments folders only. How they sort it from there is up to them File perms prevent users from creating additional folders / files outside of given folder, each department gets a 10Gb quota limit as standard, larger ones 50Gb, Art & Music 100Gb.

I've not had a major problem but others have - there are a few threads knocking about with Impero reps in there too if you need a chat. But yes the product doesnt seem as solid as it used to be - its gone from a "no brainer recommendation" to a "try it first" for me.

Can you not just say that you found them abandoned - when checking though you found multiple build errors, which you were correcting until someone claimed them? And that you were going to email out once all issues were resolved....

Hi Iain thanks for that. I have a call scheduled with our LEA to look into it so if I get any more info out of that I'll add it in here.

We have this installed and was working fine but it looks like it now wants to update the android emulator part and its saying that It cannot download the update for our onsite machines. It works fine at home, but not onsite - is there a way to side load the update? I've tried copying the .android files and the whole program files\app inventor folder from a working one over but it still comes up that the emmulator is out out date, then errors out with: Unable to load update from the App Inventor Server. Any ideas anyone?
