  1. Have any of you been asked / told to take your remaining holiday entitlement over the next few months? Basically our holidays run Sep-Sep and I have 16 days left, had an email asking me to take them before August and was quoted our contractual obligations about using holiday entitlement etc. I've emailed HR quoting the amended working time regulation which allows an employee to carry holidays over for 2 years.
  2. Breach on a Friday and breach in the school holidays - ICO don't care where you are or what you are doing....72 hours still applies
  3. I rang the ICO earlier (2 hours in a queue) and they confirmed that we don't need consent
  4. Hi All, We use SIMS In Touch to contact parents regarding behaviour, attendance, achievement and other general messages. I cannot remember if we ever obtained consent from parents as we cannot locate the forms, although most parents have a tick for consent in SIMS itself. Would we be covered under the following and be able to continue using it without sending a permissions form out: (e) processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller; (f) processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by a controller What has everybody else done? Thanks
  5. Ok so we have clear consent for everything in admission forms apart from photos, to which we didn't clearly specify where the photos would be used.
  6. Yes to bio-metrics and texts/emails but no to photos. I'll draft up a consent form then lol
  7. We have consent for bio-metrics, photos and text messaging on our admission forms when the students enter Year 7. So...do we need to re-issue consent forms to all Parents for the above or are we fine?
  8. Question - Even though we have consent for photos from Students via their admissions forms, do we need to gain consent again for GDPR?
  9. Hi James, We had a similar issue in our IT office as we have 5 16CH DVR's linked into monitors above the cabinet which were on show to students walking past and inside our office. These had to be turned off due to the nature of some live footage, and any CCTV footage has to be shown through the remote client.
  10. Believe me I have done several times every term, hard work.
  11. Question for you - what happens when your broadband feed dies? Your cloud services are rendered useless if not in a hybrid environment? The reason I ask is that we are being pushed to look at moving from Exchange to O365 but our current LA provided broadband feed is very unreliable, meaning a lot of possible downtime.
  12. We had a similar issue whereby it was resolving the IP address to the internal server path, so we had to create a record and mess with DNS zones to create an external path it could see in.
  13. Classroom control isnt a route I can go down easily, hence why im here. I've been in the job 8 years, and its now worse than ever and even though we have over 70 cameras we cant add them to IT rooms. I didnt think there would be any physical solution, but worth a try.
  14. Does anybody know of, or have experience with protecting workstations, keyboards, mice and monitors from vandalism? In the academy I work at we have a problem with keyboards being vandalised, mice being stolen, screens being written or and desktops being messed with. Is there an all in one solution out there to protect?
  15. It would have to be an interface that requires no login, requirements are buttons or a list of names to choose from. We didnt renew SLG some years ago.
